At the hospital Dr. Evans informs Nikki that Michael is going to be okay. Gloria walks up and Nikki recognizes her from somewhere. The two of them start to talk and Gloria is shocked to hear that Lance is dead. Nikki then tells Gloria what happened at her apartment. When Gloria asks Nikki who did all of this, Nikki informs her that all she knows is that his name is Eddie. Eddie holds a gun to Michelle in the living room and tells her that she has no choice but to tell him where to find the evidence in the house. Michelle tells him that she would be a fool to do that because he will kill her for sure. Luke sneaks in and spies on them just as Eddie tells her that her time is up. Manny sneaks up behind Luke and hits him over the head. When he drags Luke in front of Michelle, she tells them that the safe is in the bedroom.
Gloria tells Nikki that she has a past with Eddie and that he is a crook. Nikki is horrified to hear that Lance was laundering all of this money and that Michelle has been brought into the mix. As Eddie orders Michelle to open the safe Gloria interrupts him with a phone call and tells him that she needs to see him immediately. Eddie tells her not to call back and hangs up on her. Gloria hears Michelle scream before he hangs up and informs Nikki that they are at Lance's house. Michelle opens the safe and grabs the papers….and a gun. When Eddie takes the evidence, she points the gun at him and tells him to drop his gun….now!
Michelle and Luke arrive at the hospital and Gloria is happy to see that they are okay. Michelle and Gloria hug for a moment and the she tells Gloria that Eddie is going to be put away for a long time. Luke thanks Gloria for telling the police where they were at and goes in to see Michael. Luke tells him that Michelle ended up shooting one of the men. Michael tells his best friend that she is definitely a keeper! Michelle breaks down in the waiting room and tells Nikki that everybody has their lives but her and that she can't force Luke into taking her to New York with him. Nikki drags Luke over to see her and tells them that she is tired of them not being able to work things out. Michelle tells him that she is tired of it too and that she is ending it for good. Michelle storms out of the waiting room and Luke chases after her. When he catches up to her she tells him that she doesn't want him to go to New York without her. He then tells her that he agrees. For the first time they say “I love you” to each other and kiss.
Maria's Final Bow
Gloria settles in at her new job and in her new relationship. She tells Dr. Evans that Alec is doing much better and that she can't believe that someone like him is in her life. Gloria goes to visit Alec and is glad to hear that he likes Dr. Evans. Dr. Evans informs them that he is finished with his therapy. Gloria is shocked when Alec tells them that Eddie came by to see him this morning. He tells Gloria and Dr. Evans that Eddie wanted to say goodbye because tonight he is going away for good. Lance cautiously enters his house. He frantically packs some things in a bag, puts some papers in the safe, grabs a gun and runs out the door.
Breaking Point
Gloria unloads money from the safe at Eddie's office into a laundry bag. Just as she closes the safe the Fed's walk in and want to know who she is! Gloria tells them that she is Eddie's secretary and that he owes her a lot of money. She points to the empty safe and tells them that Eddie must have gotten there first. She insists that she will do whatever to help but that she has not heard anything from Eddie…..the father of her recovering child.
Rodney is captured by Eddie's men as he runs on his daily jog. Gloria takes Eddie the money and tells him that she doesn't want to be involved in this mess. He tells her that it is best that she not know where he is going. He gives her his new cell number and requests that she call him if anything ever happens to Alec. He gives her $500,000 to ensure that the Alec and her are taken care of. He gets a phone call and leaves.
Safe Haven
Dr. Evans and Gloria make plans to go and look at some of the prospective apartments for her and Alec. They go to look at a place and then stop for lunch. Gloria answers her cell phone and hears Eddie on the other end. He tells her that he needs to see her now because he is in big trouble. She tries to tell him that she can't right now, but he tells her that she owes him and if she doesn't come he will show up and get what he needs!
Gloria meets Eddie in a parking lot. Eddie tells her that he is desperate right now and the he just wants to make sure that she and Alec will be ok. He tells her that there is a safe at the junkyard and that he needs just enough money to get out of town. He tells her that she and Alec can have the rest. She agrees to go and get him some money but tells him that she really doesn't want to be involved. Later she sits with Dr. Evans and tells him that Eddie didn't want anything….but to say goodbye. She opens up to him and informs him that there are a lot of things about her life that she regrets. She insists that she is really trying to change things. He assures her that he doesn't care about any of that and that he only wants to be with her.
Nothing Ventured...Nothing Capital Gained
Dr. Evans stops by to give Alec a gift. He takes Gloria outside and informs her that it is safe to say that he will make a full recovery. He then tells her that he had a great time last night. She insists that she did as well…..and the 2 of them kiss for the first time. She goes into see Alec again and asks him if he likes Dr. Evans. Alec wants to know if they are going to get married. She assures him that it is too soon for that and that he is the main man in her life. Dr. Evans and Gloria make plans to go out again tomorrow night. She accepts his offer but requests that they keep their dates just between the two of them…..for now.
Dr. Evans goes to Gloria's at her place for their date. He asks her what Alec's father was like and she informs him that she has made some terrible mistakes in her life and that she will tell him about them one day. He reminds her that we all have made mistakes. Lance makes it through the day to see another shift change. The door opens and the officer walks in with his hands held high. The officer that was on duty is shot and killed by Manny. Lance begs them not to kill him….and they inform him that it is his lucky day. He looks at the officer on Eddie's payroll and shoots him. As he falls to the ground he reminds him that he wanted it to look real. Manny tells Lance that Eddie is going to be so glad to see him!
