EJ leaves the mansion, Brady learns about Nicole's lies, and Mia and Chad visit Grace's grave.
At the mansion, while EJ strangles Stefano, Stefano tries to remind him they’re family but EJ yells that Stefano has been nothing to him. Kate hears the commotion and rushes in, stopping EJ from strangling Stefano. EJ tells her that Stefano destroys anything he touches. He won’t lay a hand on him again but Stefano’s got a debt to pay. Stefano remembers that he said those same words to Anthony once, and to his eternal regret, his words became a reality. EJ guzzles back the booze and finally understands why Anthony disowned Stefano. He blames his father for the reason why Sami hid his baby from him. "How does that make you feel? Does that make you feel proud, father?" Stefano asks him to take responsibility for the mistakes he has made and EJ plans on it. He makes a decision. He’s leaving the mansion. "I can find my own home and my own family. Now if you’ll excuse me, the air in here is rather stale," he says and leaves. Kate assumes he’ll come around. Her children kicked her out of their lives so many times she can’t keep track. They eventually understand that what parents do is out of love. Nobody’s more devoted to his children than Stefano. Stefano thanks her. He needed to hear that.
At Maggie’s place, Melanie stops kissing Philip. He asks how she really feels about him and moves in for another kiss but receives a slap for his efforts. She has had this attraction to him from the moment they’ve met but she admits she’s screwed up and so is he! He holds her and tells her that’s why they’re so good together but she can’t do this anymore and asks him to leave her alone. She leaves.
At the hospital, Stephanie hangs on Nathan’s every word and agrees to give blood.
At the pub, Arianna lets Brady know all about the baby switch. Brady finds it difficult to believe but Arianna says Rafe and Sami are celebrating Sydney’s homecoming right now! Brady and Ari wish that he’d have known before he posted Nicole’s bail. He’s angry when he realizes Ari has known for a while but Ari reminds him he kept Nicole’s miscarriage a secret. Brady can’t believe his sister was mourning Grace’s death while he was the one person who could have helped save her from all that grief. Brady remembers when Nicole lost her baby and the reason why she kept the truth from EJ. He feels betrayed and stupid for falling for it but Ari can believe he fell for it. She assumes he was still in love with her. Troy’s call interrupts and Brady calls himself gullible. He calls her an ex-con and confesses he doesn’t know who to trust anymore. He leaves while Ari agrees to meet Troy at the Cheatin’ Heart.
Chad finds Nicole on the pier and assumes she got what she wanted with Sydney. Mia comes upon them and asks why Nicole is out of jail, causing Chad to perk up. Mia says she was on her way to find him and tell him the truth how Nicole lied to everyone about Sydney. Mia admits she has never had sex with anybody else but him and Nicole convinced her to lie about it so he wouldn’t think he was Sydney’s father. Chad’s confused. Why didn’t the DNA tests reveal him as the father? Mia says Sydney’s not their daughter. Nicole switched babies with Sami Brady to raise her with EJ. Chad asks where their baby is. Mia cries and tells him, "She’s dead. Our little girl, Grace, she’s in heaven now."
Sami gathers the Brady family to her home to tell them Sydney’s her child. They’re always going to miss and love Grace but now they can celebrate Sydney. Caroline thanks Rafe for all he has done for them while Roman says it didn’t take long for Allie and Johnny to fall for their little sister. Roman tells Sami that Mateo changed his story and blames EJ for the hit on Rafe. Sami doesn’t believe it. Rafe takes Allie and Johnny to the TV room to watch a movie and Sami says that loving Sydney doesn’t mean they love Grace any less. Will assumes Mia feels terrible right now. Sami hopes that Mia finds comfort in the fact that she knew her daughter. Sami wants to thank Mia for the gift of having Grace in their lives. Will admits he and Mia aren’t on speaking terms. He hurt her. Later, Sami and Rafe discuss how Thanksgiving is going to be better this year. Rafe goes on about how it’ll be better considering they won’t be in the safe house and Sami won’t be bellyaching and whining. Sami belts him in the stomach but laughs and tells Sydney that she’s a Brady and they’re all going to stick together.
At Java, Victor leaves Brady a message. Philip walks in and Victor can see he’s flushed. He assumes his son has been with a woman. Has he closed that Gatson deal? Philip hasn’t and Victor assumes he’s too busy trying to bed Melanie! Why date women with class when there are so many brain dead vixens after him? Philip is astounded at Victor’s mood and calls Melanie smart, beautiful and funny. He cares for her. Victor thinks once Philip gets his fill of Melanie, he’ll drop her like a bad habit! Philip can’t win with his father, who wants him to end up a bitter old man. Just like him! The camera pans to Vivian sitting nearby as Victor calls his son a colossal screw up. As Philip leaves, Vivian takes his place.
Melanie arrives at the hospital to ask Maxine if she can help with the bus accident. It’s all been taken care of. She goes to find Nathan, who is with Stephanie in the waiting room, helping her with her bandage. She has just given blood and complains of the heat. She gets up to adjust the thermostat and falls into Nathan’s lap, just as Melanie walks in! They explain that Stephanie’s light headed from giving blood and Melanie offers to do the same. Nathan leaves and Stephanie tells Melanie she sprained her ankle and Nathan wrapped it for her. Melanie eyes her and Stephanie asks if she’s still conflicted about the men in her life. Melanie has decided Nathan’s the only guy for her!
Mia and Chad visit Grace’s gravesite and Mia apologizes for all of the lies and most of all she’s sorry he never got to know his little girl. Chad holds her close.
Outside the townhouse, Nicole listens in to the celebration going on inside. Inside, Sami and Will discuss Nicole. Sami can understand why she did it but can’t forgive what she has done. They hug and Will takes off. Nicole hides behind a door when he leaves. Eventually, Roman and Caroline leave with the kids as Nicole stalks nearby. Rafe and Sami go back inside and Rafe tries to get Sydney to tell her mommy she loves her! Sami laughs and Sydney says, "Momma," causing Sami’s heart to warm.
Back outside, Brady finds Nicole and grabs her and says she’s not going to see Sydney.
Troy and Ari make a deal at Cheain’ Heart and Troy says they’ve a new boss. He expects her to be productive and stop brushing him off. Ari swears she’ll do great work for them. When Troy leaves, Ari bumps into EJ.
