EJ strangles Stefano, Melanie kisses Philip and Brady posts bail for Nicole.
Stefano arrives home just as EJ’s leaving him a message. He’s back for good and received his message. He has been informed that EJ is the one accused of putting the hit on Rafe. EJ assumes Stefano set him up. Stefano calls Mateo wishy washy and thinks tomorrow, Mateo will accuse somebody else. EJ will be exonerated tomorrow. Talk turns to Sydney and Stefano suggests they buy a judge to ensure they get custody of her. EJ brings up Rafe and asks if his life is still in danger? Stefano wants EJ to stop worrying about Rafe. He’s fine and not a threat to this family. EJ insists that wasn’t always the case. EJ shares the news about Nicole switching babies on Sami and that Sydney’s his and Samantha’s child. Stefano acts surprised. EJ asks if Stefano had something to do with this. Stefano stammers and doesn’t think it’s important about what he knows now or what he knew then. What’s important is their little girl is back. EJ thinks that if the hit on Rafe had been a success, Nicole’s secret would have been kept. That’s why Stefano ordered the hit. He knew Nicole’s secret. Stefano denies it but EJ presses on. Stefano says Samantha would never have told him that Sydney was his daughter so Nicole made it possible for EJ to get to know his daughter. He wonders what’s so terrible about that. EJ yells that he’s the one person EJ could trust, but he lied to him and had him mourn the death of a child who wasn’t his. Stefano tries to explain himself but EJ reminds him this is his life. Stefano wanted to help… EJ loves him but he can’t do this. He grabs Stefano’s neck and starts to strangle him! Stefano gasps for air.
Rafe finds Arianna at the pub and lets her know that Sydney’s back with her mother. Arianna jumps for joy and is thrilled she can talk to Brady about it. She asks how Nicole is and learns she’s in jail. Ari thinks her brother’s the hero but Rafe reminds her that EJ saved him from the hit man. The camera pans to somebody reading behind a newspaper, nearby. Rafe watches and once they’re done talking, he pulls the newspaper from the person and is surprised to see his sister, Gabriella there. "Mom told me to come. She’s worried about you guys," Gabi admits. They haven’t called home in a while and since she’s on winter break, she decided to check up on them. Rafe agrees to call their mom. Gabi reminds Ari about her drug dealing days and Ari knows she let everyone down. Gabi’s happy she’s out of jail early, at least, but says she dropped out of sight. Arianna has been busy. Rafe suggests they call their mother tomorrow and visit her next week. Gabi’s fine with that and says she’s staying a few days but Ari's not happy. Gabi points out that their mom went to see their grandmother for Thanksgiving. Rafe pulls her aside and asks what the problem is. Ari’s room is too small. Rafe suggests she stay down the hall from her and Ari reluctantly says there’s a vacant room, but appears worried. Gabi goes to her siblings and promises not to be a problem.
Rafe and Gabi head to the pier where Rafe says Arianna’s seeing somebody new and probably wants her privacy. He tells Gabi that the new beau doesn’t know anything about her past. Nobody here in Salem does.
Brady finds Nicole in jail. Chloe sent him a text to tell him Nicole was arrested. Nicole doesn’t understand how he can forgive her after all she has done. He knows how much she wanted to hold on to EJ and Sydney. Nicole wonders why she didn’t try to build a life with him. Brady assumes she was arrested for illegal adoption and Nicole doesn’t correct him. She asks him to post bail. Brady agrees to do it and offers her money but she has some. He offers to set her up in a hotel and promises to set her up with money and take care of her. Nicole doesn’t deserve him. When it all comes out, she hopes he’ll understand that everything she did was out of love. Brady assures her he’s her friend.
Later, Nicole gets bailed out of jail and says she’s off to find her baby.
Stephanie fantasizes that Nathan’s kissing her after he wraps her sprained ankle. Once she comes back to reality, and confesses she thinks Nathan’s making a mistake, she flashes back to watching Nathan kiss Melanie, but tells him her ankle’s too tight. Nathan re-wraps it and asks her to tell him what’s really on her mind. Later, Nathan has done rounds and again asks Stephanie what the big mistake was that he has made. She asks him to drop it. They’re fine. Later, a nurse needs a doctor to pull an all nighter as there has been a bus accident. Stephanie volunteers Nathan to help. Later, Nathan mentions he has to cancel his date with Melanie because of the long night ahead of him. Stephanie thinks to herself that she hated having to do it but Melanie doesn’t deserve Nathan.
At Maggie’s place, Mark tells Melanie she took his money and left him in the night, so Melanie offers to go to an ATM to get cash. Mark won’t let her out of his sight. Philip walks in on them and assumes Mark’s an old pal of Melanie’s. Mark threatens to hurt Philip if he doesn’t leave them alone so assuming Mark wants money, Philip throws his watch at him. It’s worth five grand. He introduces himself and once Mark hears his last name, he leaves quietly. Melanie thanks Philip. She owes him. Philip grins, knowing how she can pay him back! He wants to know how she conned the guy out of money. Melanie confesses she told him she could get him an Arabian horse for ten grand. Philip worries how many more marks are out there waiting to get even. Melanie gets a call from Nathan, who breaks their date. Philip calls Nathan noble and asks what the good doctor would think about these scams she pulled in Europe. He thinks things would work a lot better for her if she were just honest with herself. He moves in and they kiss, gently.
Back at the hospital, Stephanie tells Nathan she has decided to stick around. Nathan jokingly asks her if she can stitch a wound, but may ask her for help, later. He appreciates her being there and thanks her.
Brady goes to the pub and tells Ari that he went to see Nicole in jail and posted her bail. Arianna’s shocked. She thinks after all Nicole did, he’s nuts.
