EJ learns Stefano set him up, Melanie gets an uninvited visitor from her past and Philip gets a warning.
Roman arrives to the mansion and stops EJ from going to get his daughter. A call comes in and Roman says Mateo is accusing EJ of putting the hit on Rafe. EJ’s livid and when Abe and D.A. Woods show up, EJ blames Samantha for all of this. He elects not to have his lawyer present; since he’s a lawyer, but reminds them he already gave a statement. He thinks the commander is trying to build a custody case for his daughter, Sami, but Roman would prefer not to arrest his grandchildren’s father. As Woods leaves, EJ tells him to give his best to Chad, causing Woods to shoot him a look. Roman asks EJ to stay out of trouble and as he leaves, EJ tells him to get a warrant next time he shows up. Abe stays behind and says he knows this has something to do with the family. EJ takes a quick call and is told he can question Mateo. Abe agrees to accompany him to the jail, asking if he plans on seeing Nicole while he’s there. "I certainly hope not," retorts EJ.
Arianna and Brady learn from Victor’s shipping files that Victor is the one bringing drugs into Salem. Arianna notices the files are old and the business was sold, so somebody new is dealing drugs in Salem – Victor’s not her boss!
Nathan picks up some belongings at Maggie’s and provides Maggie and Stephanie suggestions for their fundraising. Once he leaves, Stephanie lets on how she admires him and hopes he doesn’t get hurt. Melanie’s name is brought up and both Maggie and Stephanie can see that she likes Philip more. Stephanie jumps up, suddenly ready to leave, but twists her ankle. She blames it on her heels and brushes it off, rushing out the door.
Melanie goes to Philip’s place and demands he stay out of her life. Philip thinks she could have said this over the phone and wonders why she came to see him. He’s certain she wants him in her life as much as he wants her but she denies it. "I’m with Nathan now." Philip smirks. "Sure you are…"
Mia confronts Nicole in jail. Nicole thinks with Mia’s help, they can get Sydney back. Mia starts to cry and tells Nicole, "My baby is dead. I will never get to see her again, because of you." She cries and says nobody believes any of her lies anymore. Sydney belongs to Sami and Grace is dead. She can’t believe Nicole traded Grace for Sydney but Nicole had to do it, she claims. Mia finds Nicole disgusting but Nicole felt that she gave Grace a wonderful life with Sami. "How was I supposed to know that she’d let Grace die?" Mia is stunned by the accusation so Nicole backs up. She knows Grace died from a virus. Nobody could have saved her. Mia is hurt that she wasn’t aware Grace was hers and asks, "What kind of monster are you?" Mia lost Will Horton and her own self-respect because of Nicole. She yells that giving up her little girl to Nicole was the worst thing she has ever done. She hates herself and Nicole for it. Nicole tells Mia to look in the mirror. She’s not exactly blameless. Mia can see Nicole doesn’t have any idea of what she has done to her but Nicole doesn’t agree. She thinks she knows how Mia feels. Not only has she lost her baby, she lost Sydney. She starts to cry, realizing she may never see her little girl again! Mia calls her sick and self centered. She doesn’t care if Nicole’s in jail forever.
Caroline finds Victor at the pub. He heard she was ill. Caroline says it was the flu and there was no need for him to send flowers every day! She admits she was worried about him after hearing Kate married Stefano. Victor’s not interested in Kate he says, gazing at Caroline. For a long time now, there has been only one woman for him. Caroline says Shawn was the only man in her life. Though she cared for Victor deeply, she can’t overlook his line of work. Her conscience always stops her from accepting him with her whole heart and it won’t change. Apologetically, she hopes he can understand and move on.
Melanie finds Nathan at the hospital and confesses Philip’s been leaving her intense messages. Nathan knows, explaining how he overheard Philip leaving one. Melanie admits she’s torn between both men. Nathan wants to look at the bright side. At least she wants to be honest! That might tip the scales in his favor. Melanie smiles. "You think?" They kiss as Stephanie watches from the door. Later, after Melanie has left, Stephanie thanks Nathan for the idea he had about the hospital and as she walks away, her heel catches and she almost falls – right into Nathan’s arms. Nathan takes her into an ER and wraps Stephanie’s ankle and she starts fantasizing that he’s kissing her. Nathan tries to remind her to ice her ankle until Stephanie blurts out how she thinks he’s making a big mistake.
Brady arrives at the Kirakis mansion and shows Victor the notes he made on the drug operation in Salem. "You’re in it up to your neck." Victor denies it and calls his findings idiotic, but when Brady admits where he found them, Victor admits that he was trying to help him with Arianna.
Maggie stops Philip at Java, looking for Mia, but she’s not around, so she tells Philip that since Melanie and Nathan are growing closer, Philip needs to back off. Her phone rings and she picks up a call from Mickey.
EJ and Abe visit Mateo in jail. Mateo looks worried. EJ asks why he changed his story. "Mateo, you’re going to tell me why you’re lying." Mateo refuses to answer to him so EJ grabs Mateo and pulls him towards him, yelling that he’d better tell him. Abe breaks them up.
Brady returns to Arianna’s room. He got nothing from Victor but they won’t stop their search. Arianna goes to get coffee while Brady turns on his phone and sees that Nicole has been arrested.
Melanie’s at Maggie’s place when a skeevy man, Mark arrives. Melanie backs up and covers her body with her coat as she says she hasn’t seen him in over a year. She has a new life now and can’t do the things she used to. Mark doesn’t care. He came four thousand miles to see her.
EJ arrives at home and calls Stefano. He knows his father had Mateo accuse him of trying to kill Rafe. He slams the phone down and damns his father.
Back in the jail, Brady arrives to help Nicole.
