Carly tells Bo her story and finishes in the morning. Was she wrong to come to him? Bo doesn’t think so. He covers her in a blanket and flashes back to covering Hope in the same one. Carly can tell he was thinking of Hope. He’d rather focus on her, thinking it’s too dangerous to go back to the boat. Carly worries that she’s imposing. When Maggie stops by, Carly hides. Maggie’s searching for Hope to discuss the scholarship fund Hope is helping her set up. Bo says Hope’s not there but Maggie thought she saw her through the window when she came up. Bo says that is an out of town visitor, so Maggie gets the hint and leaves. Carly returns to the living room and thinks she should leave.

Hope, Philip and Justin are in the living room at the mansion. Hope explains why she’s there. She and Bo are taking a break. Philip welcomes her and then puts his foot in his mouth, saying it’s become a singles only crash pad! Hope isn’t impressed and leaves, and Philip says if Bo and Hope can’t stay together, what hope is there for the rest of them? Justin recites a platitude about life passing you by, inspiring Philip, who leaves.

Stephanie notices Melanie and Nathan acting very cordial to one another at the hospital and accidentally outs their relationship. Maxine glares and asks Melanie for the truth. She lets Maxine know that she and Nathan aren’t an item. Maxine drags Nathan off to sign documents while Stephanie apologizes for spilling something she shouldn’t have. Melanie thinks that Stephanie’s blowing it for her on purpose but she’s not. As long as they’re happy, so is she. Melanie admits Maggie’s not happy about it and she can’t blame her, considering that internet sex tape of her and Philip. Stephanie thinks Melanie should move on from that.

Stefano calls EJ from his bedside to ask him to come to him. EJ heads to the door and bumps into Chad, intent on seeing Sydney. EJ says his daughter’s not there so Chad starts yelling for Nicole and calling her names. EJ grabs Chad’s ear and pulls him away from the stairs, letting him know that he will not act this way in his home.

Nicole stands outside Sami’s place and tells Sydney that grandpa is going to tell daddy that Sami’s her biological mother. Sami comes to the door, surprised to see them. Why did she return to Salem? Nicole had to tell her something, before somebody else does. Sami wants to hold Sydney and reluctantly, Nicole hands her over, stating she has no choice. Sami puts Sydney down in the other room and Nicole hands over the $50,000 but Sami refuses. She’ll need it for a lawyer. Nicole can’t fight for Sydney. It’s not up to her. Sami is confused. "Stefano happened. He dragged me back," she says, after he woke up from his coma. Sami is angry to learn Stefano dragged her off the plane and wants to have a word with him. She promises not to leave when Nicole goes to take care of a crying Sydney, but as soon as Nicole’s out of the room, she goes to the hospital. Nicole panics and starts to cry, worried that Sami will have her thrown in jail.

Mia looks for Chad at Java but Will hasn’t seen him. Mia knows Nicole’s not perfect but she loves Sydney more than anyone could. Will has a plan to get Chad to back off.

In the hospital, Maxine notices Stefano’s pulse racing and asks if he has a crush on her. Stefano doesn’t answer and she worries about him. Stefano says he never gets any peace around here and waves his call button at her. He presses it a few times and tells Maxine this’ll guarantee that he gets the peace he needs. Maxine leaves and Stefano fantasizes that he’s telling EJ that Sydney’s his child. EJ goes from happy to angry when Nicole tells EJ that Stefano knew about this all along. Stefano comes out of his fantasy.

Sami runs into Stefano’s room and calls him names. He laughs. She asks why he forced Nicole to return to Salem, and Stefano talks about how Nicole will never suffer enough, considering what she has done to her and to Sami. Sami is confused and thinks he’s trying to turn her against Nicole but it’s not working. She gave Nicole money to leave town and assumes Stefano doesn’t count Nicole or Sydney as family because they’re not blood. Stefano tries to get a word in edgewise to deny it but Sami drones on. They both agree that a child deserves to be with his mother – her real mother.

Stephanie finds Nathan in the break room, where Philip interrupts to give Nathan an award for him and Melanie, from the hospital. Philip learns that Nathan moved out because of a little tension so decides to give Melanie hers in person.

Maggie finds Hope at Java and explains she saw she has a female house guest at her house. Hope hasn’t met her yet and tells Maggie she is living at the Kiriakis manse. Maggie’s face drops. She’s speechless. Hope questions her about the woman and Maggie apologizes for upsetting her. She never saw the woman’s face. Hope will discuss the scholarship later, she says as she rushes home.

At the DiMera mansion, Chad wants to know if EJ plans on fighting him for custody but EJ isn’t interested. EJ can’t care, because if he does care, he’ll want her back. Mia and Will arrive and Mia begs EJ not to let him take Sydney. EJ won’t get involved but will keep an eye on them. This makes Chad happy but not Mia or Will. EJ explains he’s sorry but it’s because of Sami and what she did to him that he feels a certain kinship with Chad. Mia starts to cry and vows to ensure Chad doesn’t get custody. After they’ve gone, EJ calls Lexi to ask how Stefano’s doing. He goes to the hospital to find out what Stefano was going to tell him.

Hope arrives home as Carly hides. Hope is looking for Ciara’s Halloween activity book and once she finds it, Bo asks what else she wants, Hope says she heard from Maggie they had a house-guest. "Where is she?" Bo says Maggie misunderstood. An old friend from out of town was visiting and now she’s gone. It’s nobody she knows. Hope is angry when she notes that the woman was wrapped up in her blanket. She throws it down and runs out. Carly returns from the other room and is upset she made things worse, noting that Bo is lost without Hope.

Philip delivers the citation of heroism to Melanie, courtesy of Salem University Hospital. Melanie’s happy to receive it and invites Philip to stick around. He asks if something happened with her and Nathan but Melanie shares the story about how Maggie felt uncomfortable with them living under the same roof, dating. Philip says he’s happy for her. That’s all he wants, but can’t help but feel she’d be happier with him.

Nicole spends time with Sydney on the pier and tells her they’re being followed. Marco spies from behind her. Chad arrives with papers. "Nicole, you've been served."
