Sami fails at trying to convince Chad to give up custody, we learn who Chad's father is, Victor offers EJ a business opportunity, and Maggie recognizes Carly.
At Java, Chad thinks he’s looking at this baby situation all wrong. She makes sense, but he doesn’t want to give his kid up to strangers. They discuss her son (Will, but he doesn’t know Will is her son), who is insecure and has had a rough time. Sami says he’s worked through it but she blames herself. She could have given him a better life. Chad wanders off and Maggie arrives saying she just spoke with Will, her son, who happens to be a wonderful young man. Sami looks sheepish as Maggie goes on about how she found Will reading stories to pre-school kids. Maggie says hello to Chad and introduces the two, saying she knows Chad through Mia. Sami looks worried as Maggie reveals she’s Will’s mother. Chad’s angry. Why should he give up his baby when she didn’t give up hers? Sami doesn’t want to see him make the same mistakes she did. She and Will lost a lot of time and he hated her for the longest time. Chad doesn’t think this has anything to do with him. He’s not her! They argue more and Chad gets tired of the lecture. He still wants custody of his daughter.
On the boat, Rafe writhes and mumbles that he needs to let Sami know that Sydney’s her baby. Later, Omar runs a cold compress on Rafe’s head and Rafe says he needs to tell Sami that Sydney’s her baby.
At the Kiriakis manse, Brady is stunned to learn Nicole has made a mistake marrying EJ, when Brady has always been the one to take care of her. "I know you love me," she tells him. His love is pure. Brady knows she loves EJ but this is in the past, she insists, and moves in close, telling him she loves him. Brady tries to get her to stop and she asks if something has changed. "No, I do. Probably always will," he says, looking beaten down. They hug and he admits it seems like he’s been waiting for this forever. It’s his pattern. Nicole asks him to go away with her and Sydney. She can’t let Chad raise her baby. Brady reminds her the adoption wasn’t legal. She can’t take her out of the country. Nicole figures they can go to a country without an extradition treaty, buy a house and start a life together. Too bad that’s not going to happen, says Brady. Nicole pleads but Brady thinks she’s afraid and her emotions are running away with her. He wonders if she wants him or his money! Nicole wants him, but he apologizes, he can’t do it. He’ll still be here for her but he’s involved with somebody else. Nicole becomes angry with him and refuses his help. "My life is over and it’s all your fault," she screams before walking out on him.
EJ tells a comatose Stefano that they bought a new company and realizes he’s discussing business with him as his life is in the balance. He’s grateful that Stefano can stay away from all this madness.
Carly steals drugs from the hospital and as she’s set to leave the room, Bo and Maxine talk, outside the door. Lexi and Theo drop by and Theo jumps into Bo’s arms, happily. He has been mainstreamed in school and just got out of after school daycare. Bo asks about Stefano and is told he’s not doing as well as should be. Bo’s sorry to hear. It must be difficult. They discuss how quickly kids grow and Carly listens in from nearby. She smiles as she listens to Bo tell Lexi that Ciara can’t date until she’s 32. Lexi mentions how he’s a police commissioner and Carly’s eyes widen. She turns to go but somebody stops her, mistaking her for another doctor. She leaves but before she does, Maggie walks by her and looks as though she recognizes her!
Nearby, Lexi urges Bo to get counseling with Hope. Maggie rushes over and asks Lexi who is on staff. There’s no other female doctors so Maggie explains how the doctor looked familiar. Lexi thinks she’s just a doctor from another floor.
Inside Stefano’s room, EJ tells Stefano how the whole family is pulling for him, even Nicole and Sydney. He leaves and Stefano moves his fingers and his hand.
Victor arrives at the pub, takes a seat at the bar and when Ari asks what she can get him, he asks for a little cocaine. She jumps and he laughs. It was just a joke. He hasn’t told anyone her secret and asks if she has kept her word to stay clear of Brady. She says she doesn’t want Brady to find out what she does. It’d hurt him. Victor seems satisfied and leaves, but once outside, he makes a call to somebody, for a meeting. Back inside, Arianna makes a call to meet with the big boss again.
Victor arrives on EJ’s doorstep to talk about the fallout from Nicole and his father’s illness. At least he should be happy that Nicole didn’t try to kill him! They need to talk - business. He’d like to sell a half of one of their shared operations and EJ wonders what the catch is. Victor says with what happened to Stefano, it does give one pause. The DiMera family has the resources and it’ll take EJ’s mind off of his other issues. EJ prefers to do research to make sure there are no unpleasant surprises and will let Victor know.
Brady goes to the pub for coffee and Ari invites him to meet her down by the pier, on her break.
Nicole meets Mary outside the pub and Mary hands Sydney over, saying how bad she feels about what went down. After Mary leaves, Nicole promises not to let Sydney go. She leaves a message for Sami to call her, and sobs. Sami comes by, hearing her call and tells Nicole it’s going to be alright. "I’ll help you."
Arianna meets Brady at the pier and though he’s still reeling about Nicole, he doesn’t want to discuss his issues and asks how she is. She’d rather make this all about them, so they start making out.
Lexi sits with Stefano and emotionally tells him that he can’t leave them. His heart monitor starts beeping and Lexi calls his name.
Outside Stefano’s room, Maggie and Bo discuss volunteering and Maggie asks if they’ve seen Lexi. The medicine cabinet was broken into and antibiotics were stolen. She wonders if Bo can investigate.
At Java, the DA arrives and Chad asks, "What can I do for you, Dad?" Chad’s mother is concerned for him. He knows he’s hurting and they want to help get him through this. Though he thinks Chad should give up the child, he gives him the name of a good lawyer, if needed.
Back on the boat, Carly has already injected Rafe with drugs and tells Omar she ran into somebody she knew at the hospital. She’ll take care of it after this mystery man arrives.
