Sami agrees to help Mia and Nicole, Nicole tries to seduce Chad, and Nathan and Melanie flirt.
At Maggie’s, Mia tells Will that Sydney belongs with Nicole. Chad knows nothing about taking care of a child and she can’t get through to him. Will knows somebody who can help them.
At the manse, Sami and EJ argue. She doesn’t think EJ can understand what it’s like to be a mother. EJ says she shouldn’t be lecturing him about what’s wrong or right. Sami calls him pig headed and knows he loves Nicole and Sydney, but Sydney’s not his kid, he objects. Sami disagrees and won’t leave until he admits the truth. Nicole has changed. EJ thinks she would think that. They’re cut from the same cloth! Sami thinks their beautiful son has a father who doesn’t know how to love, which angers EJ more and he tells her to get out.
At the nurses’ station, Melanie and Nathan flirt. They discuss how they need to be discreet and when Maxine arrives, she asks Melanie to clear up some interesting rumors from the other nursing students. Why did she take all these extra shifts? Melanie ponders the question. "What was it Shakespeare said? Maxine replies, "He said be quiet and answer the head nurse’s questions." Melanie covers. She was taking the shifts for a sick nurse, just trying to help out.
Nearby, Lexi bumps into Nicole, leaving Stefano’s room. Lexi’s surprised Nicole’s visiting her father but Nicole says they’ve a lot in common. Nicole doesn’t think Lexi needs to be nice to her but Lexi knows firsthand the extent a woman will go to in order to protect her child. "I don’t judge." A surprised Nicole grins. She thought all DiMera’s judged. Lexi just wishes she could help. Later, Nicole calls Chad for a meeting.
Elsewhere at the hospital, Melanie meets secretively with Nathan and discusses their date, later on. Lexi and Maxine walk by, laughing as Lexi says how happy Theo was to see Sydney at daycare! Lexi learns Victor’s in Stefano’s room and rushes in, angrily, wondering why he’s there. He’s visiting a sick friend. Lexi can’t help but recall that he held Stefano for ransom and tried to kill him. Victor points out he’d never kill Stefano - unless he had to! He finds this scary, seeing Stefano like this. They’ve a lot in common. Both have strong, beautiful daughters. He asks how Stefano’s doing but Lexi tells him to get out. Victor hopes he recovers and doesn’t think Kate should get off that easily – that witch!
Arianna pulls away from Brady’s kiss and it leaves him confused. She stares at Victor’s photo and refuses to explain why she’s fighting him. Brady notices and asks if this is about his grandfather. She doesn’t want to push Brady away but can’t discuss this. Her heart’s not into fighting him but if they proceed… Brady stops her and laughs. "If we proceed? Sweep me off my feet, why don’t you?" They laugh and Ari says if they do this, it has to remain private. Brady’s into that and leans in and kisses her as Victor watches from the door. Brady lets her know he’s still having his men search for Rafe and after she leaves, Victor steps into the room and says he returned from seeing Stefano. He asks how everything is. Brady grins. It’s never been better! After Brady leaves, Victor mumbles. "So you think."
Nicole and Chad meet at the pier and Nicole tries to reason with Chad but he thinks she is a liar like Mia. Nicole knows he cares for Sydney and offers visitation rights but Chad thinks he’ll win if he takes her to court. Nicole decides to try to seduce Chad, instead.
Sami arrives home to Mia and Will, looking for advice. Will tries to explain but Sami says EJ already did. She knows Mia and Chad are Sydney’s parents. Mia begs Sami not to let EJ take her baby from Nicole. Sami can understand why she kept this from Chad, who isn’t putting Sydney first. Sami understands now why she felt so close to Grace. Mia talks about how it’s fate that Grace and Sydney were born on the same date. Sami asks if it’s fate that Mia met Nicole. Mia says her doctor introduced them. She could tell that Nicole loved her baby from the beginning. Sami promises to help them ensure Nicole keeps Sydney.
Back at the hospital, EJ comes upon Lexi and Sydney playing. EJ’s angry with the scene and that Nicole’s nowhere to be found. Lexi doesn’t mind. She’s loving being with her niece and admits she understands Nicole’s pain. She knows her whole world is caving in on her. EJ reminds her this is killing him. She knows that. They watch Stefano and Lexi worries that there has been no change. EJ has faith. Lexi asks him to help Nicole and Sydney. If he has a chance at happiness, he should take it. EJ pops into Stefano’s room frustrated. He wishes he could talk to Stefano. He has to let this go, and knows he hasn’t a choice. He leaves and Stefano moves his fingers.
At home, Melanie is ironing an outfit. She hears somebody come in through the door behind her and asks. "Is it hot in here or is it just me?" It’s just her, says Maggie. Melanie’s embarrassed and apologetic. She knows Maggie doesn’t want her to hurt Nathan. Maggie feels bad and admits it’s true, especially during this crucial time in his career. She gets tears in her eyes and apologizes. She swore she’d keep her mouth shut. Nathan interrupts. If she did keep her mouth shut, she wouldn’t be his grandmother! Maggie asks them to agree to no in house hanky panky if she promises to butt out. She leaves and Nathan apologizes to Melanie. Mel knows Maggie’s just looking out for him but she feels bad. Nick’s in jail, she almost made a porn star of Philip… Nathan tells her to stop! They need to leave the house, because he wants to kiss her! They move in for a kiss and pause when a noise scares them. Melanie whispers something to Nathan about what she’d like to do this evening and they giggle.
