At the cabin, Daniel says there’s something Lucas needs to know about Chloe. Lucas invites him in and asks if Chloe’s alright. Daniel says Chloe’s been upset for a while and she’s going through something. “She’s covering it up.” Daniel says she’s stressed, but Lucas says it’s because they had a fight. Daniel mentions he bumped into her on the pier and she mentioned they were going away. Daniel doesn’t think she should go with him and the reasoning isn’t just medical. Daniel asks what their fight was about but Lucas refuses to tell him. Daniel is worried about her personally, saying it sounded like they were running away to elope. Lucas says they’re going to Vancouver for her audition. Daniel looks relieved, but Lucas asks why this is his business. Julie calls, interrupting them, and he tells her he’s not going to Vancouver, so he can pick up Allie. Later, Daniel is surprised that Allie has a tape of Chloe singing, but Lucas says that’s how close they are. Daniel realizes Chloe’s issues are none of his business. “I don’t realize why you’re so focused on her. I mean, you do have a life, don’t you?” Daniel smiles and agrees; he does, but is protective of his patients. Lucas says they just had a fight, but he wants what’s best for her and Daniel doesn’t need to worry about her. Daniel apologizes for bothering him. Lucas wonders if he should ask Chloe not to go, but Daniel doesn’t think that’s a good idea.

Chloe accidentally tells Nicole that ever since Lucas found out Sami is pregnant… Nicole stops her and asks if Lucas is the father. Nicole calls Sami names and assumes the baby’s Lucas’. Chloe tries to tell Nicole that she doesn’t understand, but Nicole won’t listen. She rants about how weak and stupid Lucas is until Chloe finally admits that EJ’s the baby’s father. Nicole’s eyes bug out and she says, “I’ll kill her.” Nicole thinks Sami’s lying, and says EJ doesn’t know about this. Chloe admits that Sami didn’t tell him and pleaded with Lucas not to tell anyone. Chloe confesses she knew before Sami left and didn’t tell her because she was so happy and Lucas asked her not to. Nicole yells, “Why is this happening to my life?” Chloe apologizes, but Nicole won’t let Sami ruin things for her. Chloe feels sympathy for Sami for having to be in the witness protection program, but Nicole feels nothing for her but hatred. At least they’ve something in common. Neither wants EJ to know the truth! Chloe thinks they can work things out and tells Nicole the convent’s name. Chloe is surprised and unhappy to hear that Nicole wants the killer to know where Sami is, so he can kill her. Nicole admits for a fleeting moment, she wants Sami dead. Nicole reminds Chloe of the custody fight that Sami and EJ went through. She thinks that’s why Sami ran, but Chloe says she’s got somebody after her. Nicole figures Sami’s using the kid as a bargaining chip, because that’s what she would do. Chloe apologizes for all of this and says she has to get home to Lucas.

Rafe and the killer struggle and fight. The gun falls and the killer grabs it and holds it on Rafe, demanding to know where Sami is. With a gun against his head, Rafe denies knowing Sami or Hilda. The killer taunts Rafe, saying he misses Hilda, who played a funny trick on him, getting herself killed. Rafe admits she was a federal agent and he’ll get the lethal injection. Rafe maintains he doesn’t know Sami. This goes on for some time and Rafe jumps the killer. There’s another struggle and the killer ties up Rafe.

Sami cries in worry about the baby to Sister Theresa, who asks why she’s so worried. “Why don’t you tell me who you really are,” she asks. Sami admits who she is and who Rafe is and that she’s in the witness protection program, because she can ID a killer. She tells Sister Theresa the whole story of how she’s hiding from the baby’s father as well as the killer. She’s hiding from the father’s father and admits she has three children and that she and EJ share custody. She worries about Johnny who lives in a house where his grandfather is pure evil. She asks Sister Theresa to help hide her baby. “For how long,” Theresa wants to know. Sami isn’t sure and can’t risk anyone knowing she had a baby. The father would know it was his. Sami calls this temporary, saying that though the father loves Johnny, they don’t see eye to eye about his family, especially his father, who loves hurting people. “I will never give up on Johnny, but I feel like I’ve already lost him,” she says, and doesn’t want to lose this one. She again asks if Theresa can help, and then prays. She realizes she doesn’t have her medal and worries.

Marlena asks the paramedics for adrenaline as Hope hangs on tight to Dr. Taylor. Bo does CPR on an unconscious John as Marlena readies the injection, and once she injects him, Dr. Taylor sneers that they’re too late. Hope drags the doctor out and Marlena asks Brady to leave, while Bo continues CPR. Marlena talks to John, begging for him to fight, and reminds him that he has remembered his past and needs to keep fighting. John sucks in a deep breath and says, “Blondie,” causing Bo to sigh in relief and Marlena to cry out in happiness. “Keep breathing,” she tells him.

John is taken to University Hospital. Marlena consoles Brady, who wished he had killed Charlotte. Marlena calls her disturbed and Brady tells Marlena she should have seen John’s face when he saw the tape, remembering his love for her. “He loves you so much,” Brady says, emotionally.

In his room, Kayla asks John what Charlotte did to him, then goes to Brady and Marlena to tell them that John has had an episode. She’ll know more when the test results return. She asks them to talk to him. They’re not sure of the extent of the damage. Marlena worries it’s a stroke, but Kayla tells her not to go there yet. Marlena saw a tape of John’s hypnosis and explains they can talk about the review board later, but admits John recalled her and other things and Charlotte kept this from him. Kayla thinks it’s a good idea to discuss memories with him, though Marlena’s not sure he can access those memories now. Brady comes out of John’s room and tells them he thinks John already has! Brady admits he’s the one who took the tape of John’s hypnosis from Charlotte. He says he played it again for John, who told him he sees light. Marlena cries out and runs to John.

Back in John’s room, Marlena tells John they’ll reach each other through their memories. She holds his hand and starts telling him about their history. We see flashbacks of them when they were younger and John squeezes her hand when she asks if he remembers. She flashes back to their first wedding vows, and then their reuniting on the pier, but John starts to seize. Kayla rushes in. Later, Marlena kisses John and tells him she loves him. She flashes back to kissing him in various places and John suddenly opens his eyes. “I remember,” he says. Marlena starts to cry.

Sami prays while Nicole enters the convent.
