EJ informs Nicole of the family code, Anna shows up and Chloe's not pregnant.
Chloe comes from the bathroom at the cabin and is surprised Kate told Lucas she was taking a pregnancy test. She tells Lucas she doesn’t know yet. The test didn’t work. Lucas doesn’t want Kate around and says he’ll get another test.
Melanie rushes into the pub with presents for Max and herself. She spent all the money, much to Max’s chagrin. He tells her Tony’s dead, and she’s stunned. She asks after Philip, and assumes they were fighting over her and Nick’s stupid project. It’s done nothing but bring people to blows. Melanie says, "And now Tony’s dead, and for what?" Chelsea is surprised at Melanie’s humanity and asks where Philip is. Chelsea hits Max when he tells Melanie that he’s at the hospital. Mel rushes off.
Stephanie goes to Philip at the hospital and hugs him. She heard about Tony. Philip says it was horrible and an accident, but he’s still responsible. "You should have seen Stefano," Philip says. Stephanie wants to take him home, but Philip has no home. Stephanie doesn’t think Victor will turn his back on him now, and Philip says Victor was there, and surprisingly supportive, but he left with Brady, earlier. Philip feels as though this was set in motion for him and Tony when they were born.
Stefano drinks himself into oblivion and when Nicole makes a move to get something for him to eat, Stefano calls her names and yells for her to get out of his house! EJ, head in hands, gets up and demands that Stefano apologize to her at once, or he’ll take her and the kids and leave. Stefano doesn’t care. EJ knows Stefano’s in shock, but he can’t keep smashing glasses. Stefano accuses Nicole of not caring about respecting Tony’s memory. Nicole disagrees. Stefano calls her disloyal and EJ tells Stefano that’s enough. He yells that he won’t allow his father to treat Nicole this way, but Stefano yells back that Nicole lies about everything. EJ’s confused and refuses to play Stefano’s games. Stefano keeps after Nicole and asks why Nicole was at the Convent of the Holy Cross. Nicole already explained that, she and EJ tell Stefano, who says he doesn’t believe it. EJ screams at Stefano for disrespecting his future wife and tells him he lost one son today. "Keep going if you want to lose another." Nicole tries to get EJ to stop, but Stefano thinks Nicole could have put the man who killed his son in jail. Stefano brings up Nicole going to the convent again but EJ tells Stefano, "I don’t care if she’s having an affair with the Mother Superior. It’s none of your business." Stefano says he’s Nicole’s enemy, now. "And my enemies don’t keep secrets." Stefano goes off to get the door and Nicole asks if EJ believes her. He does and tells her not to worry about Stefano. He’s lashing out because he’s in pain. EJ shows her Tony’s note with the letter B on it. Nicole doesn’t know what it could mean. EJ knows there was tension between Nicole and Tony and wonders what it was about. His brother is dead and she’s the only witness. Nicole says if he doesn’t trust her and if that’s what he thinks, maybe they should call off the wedding. "Maybe we should," agrees EJ. EJ’s tired of her threatening to leave when things don’t go her own way. He tells her to get out then, but she’s not taking Sydney. Suddenly, Nicole reminds him that they’re all grieving for Tony. EJ asks if she is. "Of course I am," she says, calling Stefano’s accusations inaccurate. She and Tony were comfortable with each other, she says, but EJ disagrees. Nicole says she felt attacked and betrayed, and EJ says that’s how he and his father feel. Nicole is confused. "You’ve no idea what you’ve done," he spits at her. "You let Philip Kiriakis kill my brother and then walk away." Nicole says it was an accident and she told the truth, but EJ thinks Philip planned to kill Tony and he’s afraid that she had something to do with it. EJ wonders if there is a reason she’s protecting Philip. He screams at her that the family has a code and asks if she is ready to live up to that code. Nicole cries, "A code that forces me to send an innocent man to prison?" She calls him tired and asks him to go upstairs; thinking holding Sydney will make him feel better. EJ pushes her away, when she reaches for him.
Stefano opens the door to Anna, who slaps him hard across the face. Stefano is stunned but offers to let her in. She blames him for Tony's death, saying he tortured Tony. Stefano tells Anna what happened, but Anna says, "You dismissed him, knowing he’d do anything to win back your approval." She cries and tells him she came to look him in the eye one more time and tell him how much she hates him. Anna will make arrangements alone and says he’s got nothing more to do with Tony, in life or death, ever again! Anna says she’s glad Stefano didn’t get a chance to say goodbye. That brings her peace, which he’ll never have. She leaves.
Back at the cabin, Chloe stands up for Kate, but they continue to bicker. Chloe asks for them to stop. She’s tired. She’s going to the drug store. Lucas tells her they’re in this together, but she starts flashing back to Daniel and tells Lucas she hopes so. Daniel calls Kate and tells her that though Philip’s alright, he’s at the hospital. She needs to come, now.
Kate arrives to University and hugs Philip. Later, Melanie finds Stephanie and asks for Philip, but Stephanie says she can’t see him. The head nurse is with him. They discuss the fight and Melanie says she doesn’t care about the fuel project anymore, but Stephanie tells her that Philip never got the blueprints back from Tony, so the fuel project is dead.
Nearby, Daniel tells Kate and Lucas that Philip won’t go to jail, because of Nicole. Kate urges Lucas to go home and take care of Chloe. Kate calls it a big mistake for Chloe to be pregnant. Kate lets him know that she thinks Chloe should be the host of Hearth and Home Talk Show. Lucas likes the idea, and says she could take the job pregnant or not! Lucas runs off to talk to Chloe.
Back at the pub, Chelsea has lost her appetite, so Max digs into her meal. Chelsea’s worried about Stephanie and Philip, she admits, and wonders if Philip is completely blameless. She worries that Stephanie, like Melanie, is in over her head. Chelsea admits that Stephanie doesn’t want Melanie near Philip. Melanie arrives and tells them she didn’t get to see Philip and the project is over. They’ve got nothing! Melanie blames herself. Everyone tried to warn her.
Stephanie brings Philip to her new apartment. "You’re our first guest," she gushes and they sit on the sofa, while Philip thanks her for coming to get him. Stephanie thinks he’ll get through this. Philip thinks the project, that was foremost in his life, is now worthless. He was wrong about everything. "And you were right," he tells Stephanie. Later, Philip falls asleep and dreams about Tony falling. Stephanie wakes him up and he says he feels as though Tony’s death is his fault.
Back at the cabin, Chloe says she took two more pregnancy tests. "And I’m not pregnant." Lucas says they’ll try again and make it happen. Kate calls and Lucas has to take it. "Or else she’ll keep calling," he says. Kate thinks the news is for the best, when Lucas tells her the news. Kate urges Lucas to get Chloe to get an examination.
In the hospital, Kate hangs up and sees Daniel, so pretends she’s on a call, discussing Chloe’s pregnancy. Daniel asks if it’s true. "Is Chloe pregnant?" Kate denies it and talk turns to Kate’s inability to sleep. She asks Daniel to write a prescription.
In the cabin, Lucas tells Chloe to get an examination and admits he’d love it if she took the job as talk show host.
