Chelsea surprises Kate with a medal, Theo has a meltdown, and Trent's will is read.

Chelsea goes to Daniel about Kate. She needs to know what's going to happen to Kate, but Daniel can't discuss her case. Chelsea lashes out that she doesn't understand why he gets to know, but apologizes for ranting and tells him she wishes she could take back the horrible things she said to her grandmother. Daniel knows Kate will forgive her. Chelsea admits Kate's been good to her and feels it's her turn to take care of her. Daniel's impressed that Chelsea made this decision and Chelsea says she can't promise anything, but she'll try. She brings up the betrayal, and says Kate's life is far more important than her petty feelings. Daniel says they're not petty. Chelsea says she developed a crush on him and thinks he did too, but that's all it was. Daniel tries to stop her from talking, but she talks over him and asks him to promise to help save Kate. Later, after Daniel has left, she makes a promise to herself to take care of Kate as Kate did her, during her time in the hospital.

Philip and Lucas arrive at the Kiriakis mansion. By the pool, Kate tells them she's been working hard to get her company off the ground. Lucas says profits are through the roof. Kate tells them she's taking time off. She has lung cancer. Philip hugs her and tells her they'll fight with her and Lucas tells her they love her. Philip has done research and knows they've new, wonderful drugs. Kate needs their help with her business while she's in treatment. Kate asks Philip to release Lucas from his contract so he can run Hearth and Home. Lucas is up for it, but knows she'll be back. He asks for a second opinion, even though Daniel's a great doctor. Kate refuses, but Lucas asks Philip if his father can help them. Philip asks Lucas to allow Kate to decide this herself. Victor's the one who brought Daniel here. He's the best. Kate asks them to put aside their feelings about her relationship with Daniel. Philip says he will but Lucas refuses. Dr. Falk and Dr. Knapp are the best doctors available, Kate tells Lucas, who finally acquiesces. Kate says she already told Billie and Austin and when Daniel arrives, she is ready to go. Lucas pulls Daniel aside and Philip tells Kate he's proud of her strength. Kate admits she's had her moments. She's happy for their support.
Nearby, Lucas confronts Daniel, who tells her that his relationship with Kate won't cause issue with his case.

Hope and Bo arrive to the pub. Hope asks where Melanie is and Max tells her she's up in her room. Hope goes to get her while Max tells Bo that he may have made a mistake, sticking up for Melanie. "She's starting to look guilty," he says.

Melanie wakes up to find another anonymous note slipped under her door. She sees another on her pillow, one on her table and another at the end of her bed. She wakes up to find she's been dreaming and gets the door. It's Hope, who tells her to get dressed and meet her downstairs. An anonymous caller says the same words that he or she wrote on the note. "I saw you in the cemetery. I know what happened." Melanie wonders if Bo and Hope know! She packs up and leaves.

Downstairs at the pub, Hope returns and feels bad for Max, who isn't defending what Melanie did, but he says he's still worried about her. He can't help it. Bo understands this. After all, she's his sister. They spot Melanie leaving the pub and dash out to stop her. She's about to leave town when Bo tells her that her father left a will. He convinces her to stay to hear it read.

Abe, Evan, Theo and Lexi sit at Java Café and Evan tells them that the city is anxious to meet their new mayor. They've got to have family photos taken, but Lexi's unsure if Theo's up for it. Just to get him there, they practically had to drag him, kicking and screaming into car. Evan excuses himself to allow them privacy and Abe tells Lexi that she's the one who said they'd fight this thing together. He wonders what's going on. She runs hot and cold. Lexi worries about how Theo will react to being photographed. She wonders if Theo will be wondering if people are staring at him, wondering how the Carver's little Autistic boy is doing. Abe says this article that they're doing on him and the photos will help him win the election. They discuss things and argue and Evan returns to tell them what is expected of them. Meanwhile, Theo goes to another table and takes a coffee from the table, dropping it on the floor. He screams when a lady asks what he's doing, bringing Lexi, Abe and Evan to his side. The patron is upset with Lexi and asks if she could take care of her son. Lexi goes off on her and the lady realizes that Abe's running for mayor. She knows Theo's autistic. Evan, the manager, takes the woman aside and gives her free coffee, while Lexi makes more of an issue of it than it is, according to Abe, and packs up Theo for home. Abe is proud she's Theo's mother and tells her that they're real people, dealing with real challenges. They've nothing to hide! Evan arrives at their side and tells them the photo shoot will be another hour. Abe thinks Lexi should take Theo home and consider his words, but if she doesn't return, he'll understand. Lexi tells him they'll be back, because they're family. "And family sticks together!"

At Bo's office, Trent's lawyer, Mr. Gregory Berman, reads the will to Melanie and Bo. Trent died insolvent. Melanie's not surprised. The lawyer says Trent had his hand in Nick's prototype, but that's about all. Max is given a red box, so Bo takes it for his brother and leaves. Mr. Berman reveals to Melanie that there was an envelope to be read in the event of his death. He isn't sure he can give it to her as her name is not on it. Apparently, Melanie has known him for a while and talks him into letting her see it and says he's counting on her to share it with the police after she reads it. She tears it open but is interrupted by Bo and Hope, who ask for the letter! They want to know what's in it.

Kate goes into the hospital for chemotherapy and Dr. Knapp tells her what to expect. Lucas and Philip think they can play the game Boggle, and they all laugh. They used to have matches all the time. Philip and Kate laugh, but Kate says she's fine. She'd rather be alone to watch TV and read. She'll have Daniel call when it's over. The men reluctantly leave, but before Lucas does, he admits he'd rather stay there with her. Kate asks him to talk to Tony and Anna about the new ad campaign. He asks for a rain check on Boggle, and leaves.

Later, Chelsea arrives at Kate's side. She hands her a necklace with a medal of the Greek saint Sophia. She says her Grandpa gave it to her while she was in the hospital and hopes it'll work for her. She rushes out without another word.
