Hope tells Mayor Mariano that she's surprised he would hire a woman, and at that, her female colleagues are just as qualified as she is. She'll give him an answer by the end of the day. Bo and Roman are thrilled with this news and call her dedicated and more than qualified. They want her to take the position but she says it's too much to comprehend. It'll change her life. Hope's considering how this will change her life - their life. Bo can take more time with Ciara, he says but he'll sacrifice time with her…"If it means keeping Stefano's minions at bay?" Hope finishes. Hope doesn't want to be away from her daughter and reminds him she'd be his boss. He turns down the blinds when she asks if he'd be okay with that, and snuggles in close for a lingering kiss! Hope admits maybe it was losing Zach that makes her worry about losing time with Ciara, and she can't take the job just because of Stefano. Hope calls Mayor Mariano and declines the opportunity. After she hangs up, she comments that the Mayor didn't appear too depressed about her declining. Bo says sure, maybe he has somebody else in mind of his own. She prays she did the right thing.

Stefano mumbles, "The pawn was made for sacrifice." Rolf arrives at the great room at the mansion and tells Stefano that John's brain is like a time bomb. Stefano's not happy with this. "Death is too easy, we have to see him suffer," he says. Stefano says that for the first time in a long time, the end game he's been playing has nothing to do with John. His brother's merely a pawn, and the plan he's devising will destroy Marlena, the woman he loves, once and for all.

Nicole wanders outside the pub, nauseated again. Trent bumps into her, looking for Melanie. Nicole tells him he owes her, ten million dollars. "And I don't take checks!" She says the police found out that she's Misty Circle and married to him. She runs off to get physically ill again and Trent says, "Something you ate?" She thinks it's Caroline's chowder, she admits and asks again for her money. He refuses. She looks just as good as she always did. Maybe 'Locker Room Lolita' will make a comeback, he asks. Nicole has loads of stuff on Trent and doesn't mind coming clean. He offers sex in exchange for money, causing Nicole to call him a pig. Max walks in on the two and calls Trent an SOB! He wants to know what's going on but Nicole brushes him off and goes into the pub. Max tells Trent to get lost and stay away from Melanie, or he'll make good on his threat to kill him. "I'm shaking in my boots," says Trent.

Anna and John discuss his impending divorce, inside the pub. John seems very distracted, but says he knew this already. Anna encourages him to try to hold on to his marriage. John starts seeing double and has a hard time hearing Anna. He seems to have a seizure, and Anna asks if he's okay. He says he's fine and Anna says Marlena brings out the best in him. She'd like to see John better, she says. As she talks, John sees double again and passes out on the floor. Anna yells for someone to call 911.

Kayla finds Marlena looking distractedly through files at the hospital nurses station. They discuss the baby and Kayla asks if something is bothering Marlena. Marlena admits there is. "John seems to be spiraling out of control." And she can't do a thing about it. The more she tries to help John, the more defiant he becomes, she says so she is done with him.

Nearby, Daniel yells at a nurse about a patient. Kayla witnesses this and confronts him. She asks him not to yell, but he's too angry to listen and stomps off, only to bump into Chelsea, who is there to see Kate. Daniel can't discuss Kate's case with her, he apologizes. Chelsea asks him to remind her again why he couldn't tell her why he slept with Kate. He didn't want to hurt her, he says. She counters that he didn't want her to know. He'd already hurt her by sleeping with Kate. She wonders. "A man has needs, right?" Daniel tells her that's not it. Daniel says Kate never meant to hurt Chelsea. She doesn't want to hear it and says, "I'll see you around, Daniel," and stomps off.

Anna brings John to the hospital. He has had a seizure and convulsions, she explains as Kayla examines him. He's not an easy patient. Anna gives a call to Marlena and asks her to come to the trauma center. Marlena rushes over and Anna explains what happened. He's currently getting a brain scan. Marlena runs to John, and meanwhile, Kayla looks at John's x-rays and says, "Oh my God!" She wonders how this is possible.

Marlena visits John, who explains what happened and that he doesn't remember much. He's glad she's there and sees it as a sign that she doesn't despise him. Marlena tells him she could never despise him and when he asks about them, she has to go see a patient, and rushes off. He looks vulnerable, as she leaves.

Marlena winds up in Kayla's office and Kayla shows her the x-ray. Marlena is told that the mid-brain region is clouded over, completely. Neither have seen this before and Kayla decides to run more tests.

Back in the trauma center, John pulls his coat on, and is ready to go. He says if he's not dying, he should go. Kayla isn't sure if he is dying or not but needs more tests. John refuses her. Someone calls and he rushes off, leaving Anna and Kayla worried about how Marlena has already suffered enough. Kayla says John could be headed for disaster.

Marlena arrives at the DiMera mansion. She asks about the disc containing John's memories. Stefano denies any knowledge of it and thinks she was hallucinating it. She tells him about John's seizure and says he needs help. "Don't we all," comments Stefano. She tells him to help his brother. Stefano says John's his half-brother. Marlena rants that all he likes to do is inflict pain and Stefano says they're a lot alike. She asks for Stefano to restore John's memory. If they don’t she's afraid he'll die. She reminds him he's a father and grandfather and has compassion. He agrees, when it comes to his heirs. She asks him to think about John's legacy but he says John's fate was sealed years ago and neither of them can do anything about it. Marlena angrily leaves the mansion and Rolf arrives and tells Stefano that he accessed University Hospital records and knows John will need to be reprogrammed as his pawn, at the precise moment. Stefano doesn't think they need him anymore. Stefano wants to find someone new to play with and to retire John.

Daniel apologizes to the nurse he ranted and raved at. The nurse is forgiving and admits she did make a mistake. She gives him Kate's x-rays and says Kayla wanted him to look at them. Once he does, he looks extremely concerned and calls Kate. He tells her they need to decide their next step. She needs to come in.

Inside the pub, Nicole looks at a large knife that someone's using to cut lemons with. She says, "That bastard doesn't deserve to live," but rushes off to be physically ill.

Outside, Trent doesn't think Max has it in him to kill him. He thinks Melanie does but says he's too much like his dear old dad.

Marlena looks at John's x-rays back at the hospital and vows to help him.

Lucas tells Philip that Chloe's babysitting for him tonight, so they can have dinner. Philip looks up and sees Chloe.

Nick makes a comment to Chelsea. "Daniel hurt you and now you're coming running back to me?"

Max wants to take Melanie to Trent's room right now, but she yells that she doesn't want to see Trent, and won't go!
