Max returns to his seat and Stephanie enters the compartment and jumps into his arms, with a kiss. Max doesn't appear happy to see her. He told her not to come. "Your dad's going to kill me," he rants, but she relays that she spoke with Steve and everything is fine. Besides, she knows French. Max wants her to leave. She blasts him for leaving a letter for them, instead of telling them he was leaving to their faces. She thinks she can help him on this trip and isn't going anywhere. Max changes his tune and asks her to stay, help him find his sister. The two kiss.

Nicole orders a coat for Pookie on the phone before Ava meets her at the pub and shares that she spent the afternoon with John, but with nothing to dish. They fooled around but he kept it PG 13. Nicole is confused. Ava's got it all and if she were a guy, she'd "Totally jump on it!" Ava shares her secret of how she deals with John - she doesn't try to change him, but doesn't think he's over Marlena. Nicole admits she slept with EJ. She has feelings for him and Ava asks her to call him, but Nicole can't. Ava saw him at John's and EJ said he was upset about a woman - Nicole, likely. She thinks EJ likes her and encourages her friend to call him and take it slow. Nicole says there's something she doesn't know. Trent Robbins is in the way. She asks Ava to promise not to share what she's about to say. After she spills, Ava promises not to tell. Nicole's happy to have it off her chest.

An incognito Dr. Rolf meets Marlena at the pub. She laughs that he looks like an extra in the Sopranos. Rolf morosely says he'll be sleeping with the fishes if John finds him there. Marlena tells him she needs his cooperation and won't take no for an answer! When John calls, Rolf puts on his American accent. He is asked for a favor. Rolf gets rid of him by saying he's finishing his glaze on his soap dish. Marlena offers immunity if he fixes the disc. She wonders if he's happy working for John. Rolf isn't and Marlena tells him that she'll be discrete and will do what she can to help him. Dr. Rolf just can't trust her. Marlena says she'll find a way to get John's memory back and when she does, Rolf will spend a long time behind bars! She leaves.

EJ tells John the guests are almost at the mansion and that his plan will restore John's reputation within the community. John will trust him after tonight! Judge Karen Fitzpatrick arrives and admits she did homework on EJ before she came. They have an acquaintance in common. Harry Rottinghouse, EJ's Law Professor at Cambridge. John arrives and Karen remembers him. John doesn't remember her and after he leaves, Karen calls what happened to him, tragic. "Yeah, that poor man," says EJ. She realizes he didn't know who she was. "He was such a pillar of the community." She wonders if EJ invited her there to try to clear up his reputation. EJ denies it. He wanted to make a small donation to her campaign. It's actually massive, and she refuses it. He thinks the young, hot DA will take it if she doesn't, and gives her the check, just in case she changes her mind. She leaves and John returns. He enjoyed listening in and admits he has the place wired with cameras. He could hear and see everything! EJ's unnerved. John still doesn't trust EJ, though he's impressed with tonight's good deed. It doesn't erase the fact that he shot him and took one of his kidneys, but if he can be as loyal to him as he was to Stefano, perhaps they can work together. First, EJ needs to figure out what he's going to do with Samantha. He comments on the court order. EJ says it's to protect his son, but John thinks it is to take advantage of his step-daughter. EJ wonders why John suddenly cares and says that if he is looking for EJ to admit he cares for Samantha, a good way to start is to admit he still has feelings for Marlena.

In his office, Roman tells Lucas that he's not going to Statesville. He's going somewhere much worse! Lucas asks Roman not to tell Sami that he's going to maximum security. Sami walks in and overhears. "What?" She panics and asks Roman what he can do to help. "It's out of my hands," he says. If he exhibits good behavior, he can go back to minimum security. Roman leaves the two alone and Sami asks how he could do this to his children. Lucas apologizes. He called Will already. Sami brings up Chloe and how much it hurts that he had sex with her. Lucas knows how she feels, considering she has feelings for EJ. Lucas says he was furious and didn't know what to do. He tried to be noble but isn't as noble as he thought he was. They argue and each other wonders if EJ and Chloe were worth it. Lucas will find a way out to come back to Ali, but doesn't know about anything else. He is taken away, leaving Sami weeping with Roman. Sami worries about how Lucas will fare. She's afraid for him, afraid for her and worries he won't come home this time to watch their kids grow up. Sami and Roman make dinner plans before she leaves his office.
Lucas returns, later, and Roman gives Lucas a photo of Allie. "Just remember you're doing this for her," says Roman. Lucas knows he's right and hopes the next time Allie sees him isn't at his funeral.

Sami returns to the mansion looking for Rolf. She tells them that Lucas was sent back to prison. "One less mouth to feed," says John and EJ apologizes, but thinks she had to be expecting this. He thinks she should move on but not with him. "You're a mess," he tells her, unkindly. Sami says Lucas made a mistake and she made one, sleeping with EJ. She and Lucas can overcome this. EJ doubts it. She retorts that she'll forgive Lucas but will never forgive him. Sami leaves and John thinks what EJ's doing is cruel. Sami loves those rug rats. EJ tells him he must do this and they discuss the possibility of EJ working for John. EJ's sure he can prove himself.
