Victor tells Chelsea Daniel's secret, Hope is assigned to the Nusbaum case, Nicole gets bad news and Sami kisses EJ.
John gets angry when he realizes the disc they took from the safe is missing. He assumes it was stolen. Sami and Marlena wonder why nothing else was taken and Marlena turns to Rolf for answers. Rolf claims he didn't take it and Sami and Marlena are surprised when John dismisses Rolf to get him a snack. John thinks it could be EJ, since he's Stefano's son. Rolf shows up with John's food and Marlena tells John he should trust her, though she finds it hard to trust him. In turn, he tells her she's now his main suspect. Marlena is angered by his admission and he tells her he knows she has strong feelings about him that they can discuss later. Sami tells Marlena she's dropping the twins off at Maggie's so she can run errands. Marlena wants to go, but Sami thinks she's avoiding John. Marlena realizes she is and decides to stay and help John find the disc. John tells Rolf to leave the room and calls the security company and barks out orders for them to come and install an alarm. Marlena thinks John was harsh on the man but he disagrees. The work ethic has gone downhill he says and he plans on hiring a private investigator to help. Marlena says he used to do that sort of thing himself and thinks this could be a link to the old John. After all, he's Stefano's secret project. John, who was pouring a drink, slams down the bottle and demands that she never call him that again. Marlena apologizes, but that upsets John more. He doesn't want her to treat him like some mixed up patient.
Daniel works out at the gym when Lexi shows up. She asks him to consult on another patient but he's not interested. Lexi accuses him of having feelings for Chelsea and tells him she doesn't want to lose him as a doctor. Daniel says maybe she should know what happened with his last patient. As soon as the words are out, he clams up. Lexi asks him to talk about it and he tells her she was not just one of his patients, "She was my wife," he says. They lived in Miami and met at the hospital. He tells the story about how beautiful the woman was and how intrigued he was.
At the pub, Victor asks Chelsea if she'd like to move back into the mansion with him. Nicole storms into the pub and disrupts them. "There you are, you bastard," she screams. She tells him Pooky (her dog) was poisoned and she thinks he has something to do with it. "Maybe she found your stash of vodka," Victor yells. Nicole blames him but he never touched that filthy mutt, he says, even though she left him a little surprise on his dining room floor this morning! Nicole yells to the pub that Victor tried to kill her dog and when the vet calls, she leaves. Chelsea tells Victor she didn't know Nicole was that crazy! They discuss her classes and how she has a lot of catching up to do, and Chelsea brings up Daniel. She tells Victor that he's leaving Salem and she'd like him to talk him into staying. When Chelsea admits she thinks Daniel's leaving town because of her, Victor sighs. She realizes he knows something. He replies that it's not his place to say, but Chelsea begs and admits she thinks she's falling in love with him. Under the strictest confidence, he tells her about one of Daniel's patients who had cancer.
At the gym, Daniel is in the middle of telling Lexi about this cancer patient who he says he was crazy about. Even with his knowledge, he confesses he thought he could will her to get well. He says she suffered but never stopped smiling. At the pub, Victor says Daniel called him and told him he was going to marry her. Victor wasn't sure it was good idea. Later that night, she took a turn for the worse. Daniel continues at the gym with Lexi and says that she was in pain and they could do nothing. He says he couldn't handle watching her die and took her to the beach, where he knew she'd feel happy. Victor tells Chelsea that Rebecca died that night. Daniel was heartbroken and lost himself in his work and vowed never to put himself in that situation again. Chelsea chastises herself for pushing Daniel and Victor tells her whatever happens is for the best. Tears in her eyes, she leaves the pub while Daniel tells Lexi he can't go through that again. Lexi holds his hand as she tells him he can't keep running away.
Bo returns to Salem PD, where Abe gives him Ava's warning not to mess with her father. Bo ignores the warning and asks if he has assigned anyone to the case of Ava's shrink. Hope interrupts. "How about giving it to me?" Abe likes the idea but Bo doesn't. Abe gives the Nusbaum case to Hope and Bo is upset when Abe tells him he's off the case - he can only help out from the side lines. "Thanks for tossing me a bone," Bo says, in a huff. Roman tells the gang that Ava's lawyer will try all he can to get her off. Roman tells Hope that Ava assumed her father killed her shrink, so Hope thinks she can work on that. Abe orders Bo and Hope to leave work for today.
Nicole leaves the pub after talking to the vet and bumps right into EJ. He notices her tears and she tells him someone poisoned Pooky, and she's now in intensive care. EJ feels for her and she shows EJ photos of the dog and when they got matching pedicures, her first birthday, and sobs that she's not sure Pooky will live. EJ comforts her, much to her surprise. Usually, people make fun of how she treats her dog like a child. EJ holds Nicole close as she sobs, "She's the only one I can count on." She tells EJ she has had Pooky for two years and if she leaves her, she'll have nobody. "You'll have me," offers EJ, but she assumes it's because she's paying him. EJ denies this and holds her close as Sami comes up the walk and spies them and starts ranting and raving. EJ tells her it's not what it looks like but Sami doesn't believe him. A teary eyed Nicole explains that Pooky might die and the two ladies exchange barbs. Sami tells Nicole she's not going to get away with this and grabs EJ and pulls him into a hard kiss!
Bo and Hope arrive at home and Hope asks how they're going to nail Martino. Bo reminds her he's not allowed to work on the case, but Hope says they can still discuss it. They flirt about what's involved and Bo asks,"Handcuffs?" They kiss, passionately and after Hope calls Maggie and asks her to keep Ciara longer, they go upstairs for a little fun!
At the mansion, John makes a list of items missing from the house and when Rolf asks John what he would have done if he caught the perp, John says, "I'd have put a bullet in their head." John offers Rolf a Cuban cigar, and this causes Rolf to reassure John that he didn't have anything to do with the disc being stolen. John knows. He figures Rolf would have replaced the disc with a phony!
Marlena arrives at Roman's office to report the break-in. He can't file the report since she's not the victim, but offers to help, off the record.
Daniel goes into the steam room after his workout and flashes back to kissing Chelsea.
Chelsea enters the gym and is told that Daniel's in the steam room, so she meets him in there and tells him she knows what happened to his wife!

Sami frantically tells Caroline, "Grandma, I need to talk to Lucas. I need to see him right now!"
Phillip looks at his computer screen. "All right, John, let's see what you've been up to."
Chelsea asks, "So what are you saying now? That you were lying before, or that you were using your past to let me down gently?"
