Belle's life is in danger, Claire is taken, John and Marlena banter!
Philip, Shawn and Bo wait by the docks for Crystal and Rob's van. They may be working together now but Shawn tells Philip that when this is over, he's to stay away from Claire. Bo tells them that Crystal and Rob are probably going to take Belle and Claire somewhere by boat and reminds both Philip and Shawn they're to follow his lead - they're there only because he's allowing it. Bo flashes back to meeting Rob.
In the van, Belle flashes back to all that has happened between she and Philip, Crystal and Rob this past week. Belle complains about being cold and asks Crystal what her plans are. "Are you going to kill us?" Crystal says they're there to help her, not kill her - and they don't want ransom. Crystal gives Belle cough medicine in order to sedate the child but Belle knocks it over in her refusal. Crystal would never hurt Claire and lets her know the officer was shot with rubber bullets - he'll be fine. Belle panics and worries about what'll happen next. Crystal gives Belle a hot coffee and she throws it in Crystal's face, then hits her hard with a fire extinguisher and runs off with Claire. They arrive at the dock where Bo comes out from behind a crate with his gun aimed at Rob, who has just paid off a boat captain.
Belle panics as she runs into Rob at the pier. He grabs Claire from her and takes out his gun. Bo holds his own piece at him and yells for him to let go of Claire. "Put down the gun or I'll shoot," Bo yells. Shawn and Philip run over to help but Rob tells them they'll have to shoot through the girl to get to him. Things are tense and when Shawn makes a grab for Claire, he accidentally knocks Belle into the water. Rob drags Claire to the van and Bo and Shawn run after them. Philip jumps into the water for Belle.
After he drags Belle from the water, Philip gives her CPR while Bo returns with blankets. Bo says they're following the van and have the boat captain in custody. Philip flashes back to his earlier conversation with Belle while she is taken care of by EMT. Bo has the EMT call Kayla, Hope and Marlena. Belle wakes up and worries about Claire. Philip lies that they have her. She apologizes to him for everything. Suddenly, she goes into cardiac arrest and passes out. The paramedics work on her but its too late. "She's gone." They say. Philip demands they don't give up on her and starts CPR himself. Bo stops him and after a few stressful moments, Belle takes a deep breath and comes back to them! The paramedics give her oxygen and take her to University Hospital. Bo urges Philip not to tell Belle the truth. Shawn needs to be the one to tell her. Shawn returns bloodied and exhausted. He lost Claire. He finds out that Belle went into cardiac arrest but Philip says she's fine. He lied about Claire and promises to back off. Shawn thanks him and they take off to the hospital.
John is strapped to a bed at University hospital. At his side, Marlena wakes up with a start. John is angry with her. They had a deal. No hospitals - no drugs. Marlena says they had to figure out what Stefano did to them. John wants her to prove to him she is on his side by breaking him free. Marlena can't do it but reassures him he's no criminal. John wants her to go someplace with him and find out who he is, reminding her that he helped her in the alley. Marlena is befuddled and says she can't lose him again. He tells her she's hot and can use her female wiles to get them out of there. She says, "You've no idea who I am." He comments that she's a beautiful woman who is going to get him out of there. A frustrated Marlena can't help him but listens to his plan. She gazes at him longingly when he calls her "Doc" and tells him she has missed him so. John looks around stubbornly. Marlena tells him she still sleeps on his side of the bed and pretends he's there. John's baffled when she comments on trying to be strong for the girls and as she weeps she says she tries to move on but life without him is unbearable. John doesn't care who she sleeps with or without he says. He just wants out. Marlena say she'd do anything for him but wants to know why she should help a complete stranger. "Barking orders at me never, ever works," she explains. She wants their life back. "Good luck with that," he says and tells her he doesn't love her or anyone. "What about our kids," she asks but John has no idea what she's talking about. She shows him photos of Brady and Belle and he says she's a cute kid. She shows him Claire and he tells her she's wasting time on this garbage. She shows him a photo of he and Claire in desperation and tells him a story about the day the photo was taken. John is not interested and promises if she doesn't help him out, they'll never stroll down memory lane again. John grabs Marlena's wrist and Marlena grabs John's face in turn and threatens to have him put in a strait jacket. He compliments her. "Nice move," and lets go. Marlena says if she sets him free, he won't truly be free without a memory. "Make it quick," he says and she laughs. It's a long story. She shows him Claire and says he's a grandfather, husband and friend and is loved. He agrees to meet them if she shuts up about them and lets him go. John starts to yell for the nurse and when she enters the room, she tells them she's instructed by Dr. Carrington to drug John if he becomes aggressive. John panics but Marlena pleads - no drugs! She pulls strings. She's a senior staff member and next of kin and is re-writing Carrington's orders. Everything goes past her first. John says, "Dr. Evans. Doc. I got it!" She tells him he needs no drugs. "So you're hot, smart… what else should I know about you?" Marlena wants him to figure it out on his own. He comments he must have done something right in his past life! She asks if he remembers anything but all he remembers a cold dark lab and Rolf. Marlena tells him he's a kind, sensitive man, a man of honor and they've a special connection. She tells him he can't be replaced and their love is too strong to be forgotten, no matter what Stefano does to him! She tells him a psychiatrist. He laughs. "Don't try to get inside of my skull. There's nothing in there." Marlena tells him she will - by love. John tells her he's not hard wired for love. Marlena pushes his limits and tells him she loves him. He orders her to stop but she assures him in time, he'll learn to love. "Until then, I will love you for the both of us."
