Kate is brought in for questioning, Bo and Shawn catch Steve being suspicious, Will wants to move away, Lucas wants a good lawyer and Sami refuses to leave EJ's side.

Kate in annoyed that Bo has dragged her all the way to the police station to ask her 'silly questions'. She insists again that she threw the gun in a dumpster. Bo and his men have searched all the dumpsters and they only found garbage. He threatens to get a search warrant, but Kate is unimpressed. Bo reminds her that EJ and Stefano both saw her waving a gun around. She reminds him that they're both criminal... Who she did business with and slept with, Bo points out. He demands again that she talk. Roman walks in and she begs him to take Bo away. The two men demand the gun again. She rolls her eyes as they call a cop over to take another statement from her. Once she's led away, Roman promises Bo that he will go over to her place and go through her stuff thoroughly. Later, Roman returns and goes in to see Kate. He tells her that he just searched her apartment. She's outraged. Roman takes out a gun and places it on the desk. 'Looks like that statement you made may need one or two changes,' he says.

At the pub, grandma Brady is telling Shawn how much she is looking forward to throwing the wedding feast for him. He hugs her and they wander away. Steve sneaks in and runs behind the bar. Shawn comes out and catches him there. Steve pours a drink and then says that he's driving and puts it away. He hurries out and makes a call. 'I'll try again later...I'll get it,' he says. Back inside, Shawn paces behind the bar, wondering what Steve was searching for. He calls Bo over. When he arrives, they talk about how Shawn ran off to the hospital after Belle. Bo reminds him that work has to come first, even over family: If he can't do that, he can't be a cop. Shawn understands and promises it won't happen again. Bo smiles when his son tells him that the station already feels like home to him. They move on to the issue at hand: Steve. After he caught him acting suspicious, Shawn decided to look around himself. Reaching under the bar, he pulls out a gun he wrapped in a cloth. Bo is impressed; it looks like his son has great cop instincts. Shawn just hopes this doesn't mean that Steve shot EJ. Bo sighs. They need to figure this out for sure. Later, Steve returns, looking for some chowder-to-go. When Caroline takes Shawn away for a moment, Steve jumps behind the bar again and Bo pops out to catch him.

Billie goes over to Lucas' looking for some good news. 'EJ told Sami that he wants to die,' Lucas says. That doesn't sound very good to Billie. Lucas tells her that she is with EJ right now. That doesn't surprise her; she and EJ went through a traumatic experience and that can bind people together. She gives Lucas a hug and promises him that things will get better. He doesn't think so: Johnny/Gianni is going to be a DiMera. He tells Billie that he needs the name of a good lawyer— he's suing for sole custody of his daughter so that he can raise her alone. Lucas is sure that EJ will live just to spite him and, eventually, he and Sami would try and take his daughter away. After looking in on the nameless little girl, she agrees to get him a lawyer. He has to tell Sami that he is doing this though or he will only make things worse, she warns. Lucas doesn't trust Sami anymore: The DiMera's are falling apart, the vendetta amounts to almost nothing now and she is still playing to their tune. He needs everything down in writing. Billie tells him that he should think long and hard before he calls a lawyer. After she leaves, he calls Sami and leaves a message, telling her that he needs to talk to her. There is a knock at the door. It's a cop with Will. He was caught drinking under age with some other boys. Lucas brings him in and starts questioning his son. Their family has a history of alcoholism: How can he treat him like this? Will tells him that he hates it here: He wants to go and live with Carrie and Austin so he doesn't have to watch his mother destroy everyone's lives. Lucas can't say no. He sets it up and then reminds Will that none of this is his fault. 'I'm gonna miss you a lot,' Lucas says. Will tells him that he doesn't know what to wish for anymore; he just wants everyone to be alright. Lucas hugs him and reminds him that they are a family and always will be.

At the hospital, Sami tells EJ that he's not dying. 'One way or another...I am,' he says quietly. That doesn't sound like the EJ that she knows. As she explains that he can still be happy, even in a wheelchair, he stops her. He won't live like this. This sounds pathetic to her. 'I don't want your pity,' he says. He's sure that she's only there thanks to Stefano's threats. She is there because she cares, both about him and their son: He can't abandon him. 'Everything has changed and I don't know what the future holds,' she admits. It sounds, to EJ, like there is a possibility for them after all. She tells him that she can't ever love someone who does nothing but feel sorry for himself. He reminds her that he can't move his legs and repeats that he won't live like this. Why should he try? 'For your son!' Sami repeats. He appreciates this, but she has to stop; she's manipulating him and he doesn't believe her... but he does love her and too much to let her throw her life away on him. 'I won't allow it,' he insists. She is getting sick of listening to this. Standing up, she tells him again that she will help him. 'You're stubborn,' he smiles. 'But I don't think you're tough enough for a life with me.' She sure that she is. If he wants a miracle, they can make one, but he has to want it. That sounds like a dream to him. Once again, he tells her to go back to Lucas. She doesn't go anywhere: He made her angrier than she's ever been, but when he was shot, it changed everything. 'Just leave me alone,' he begs. He doesn't feel well. She starts feeling his forehead for a fever and then crawls in next to him. 'If you're going to will yourself to die, it will be in my arms,' she says.
Next on Day of Our Lives:
'Go ahead! Marry him,' Philip challenges Belle.
'We've got to find these shooters before Stefano does,' an anxious Bo exclaims.
'It's my gun,' Roman admits.
