At the pub, Kayla Steve and Roman gather and find out from Bo and Hope that Sami's marrying EJ tonight! Roman is shocked and angry that Sami didn't mention this to him but Hope explains that EJ wanted the wedding to happen as soon as possible and since Sami and Lucas are divorced, EJ doesn’t feel a need to wait. Bo explains that Lucas asked them to do an intervention tonight to convince Sami not to go through with the wedding. Steve reminds them they've already done this and though Kayla agrees, she's willing to give it another shot. Hope explains that Sami's trying to be noble and make up for her past misdeeds and Kayla suggests they disown her for effect. They're all on the same page. Roman bitterly says he'd like to see EJ dead and this doesn't go over well so Steve asks if they can deport the DiMeras but Bo says they're all there legally. Before they make their way to the church, Roman says truthfully, he's not joking about shooting EJ Wells. Bo thinks he ought not to be spouting this about! Roman checks his gun, which is under his jacket.

Lucas sits with his daughter (no name) at home and prays that everything will change for the better. When Sami comes out of her room wearing a black dress for the wedding, Lucas thinks she looks beautiful but comments that it looks like she's going to a funeral. That's what it feels like for her, she says and starts to cry, saying she hates this as much as he. Lucas admits he's happy to have one last night alone with the twins but Sami reminds him she'll be living right down the hall so will be together always. Lucas disagrees and says if she does this, they're future is over forever!

At the mansion, Stefano raves at how handsome EJ looks and how proud he is of his son. EJ promises not to let his father down and reassures him that Samantha won't interfere with Johnny's upbringing. Kate barges into the mansion, interrupting the two. She starts yelling at EJ for admitting to their scheme to get Lucas back in her life. When EJ brushes her off, saying this isn't the time or place, Kate whips out a gun and tells them, "You'd better make time!" EJ takes the gun from a crazed Kate who cries to Stefano that she had her son back until he and EJ stabbed her in the back. Stefano explains he defended himself by telling Lucas that he had no idea that EJ and Kate were working together. Kate tells EJ he's not off the hook but EJ interrupts and reminds her that Lucas tricked her into telling the truth. Stefano starts to laugh at how clever Lucas is. Kate tells the men that Lucas hates her and EJ starts to laugh, and reminds her that Lucas banishes her from his site every few days, only to take her back with open arms. Stefano agrees that the bonds between a mother and son are difficult to break.

Sami nervously gives Lucas instructions on how to care for the babies and when Will shows up, he asks if she's set on doing this. He's visibly upset and has changed his mind about Sami marrying EJ. Lucas stands up for Sami's reasons for marrying EJ but Will reminds her she'll be stuck with the guy that raped her and asks, "We're supposed to stand here and watch?" Lucas asks Will to stop. Will admits he wants to go back and live with Carrie and Austin. Sami asks them to discuss it later but he says it'll be too late and marches out the door. Lucas comforts Sami and tells her Will is young and hurt it'll take time for him to understand. He thinks Will should spend time with Carrie and Austin right now, for his own safety. Lucas begs Sami not to do this but through her tears, Sami apologizes and removes her wedding rings and places them on the desk before she walks out.

Back at the mansion, EJ removes the bullets from Kate's gun and gives it to her. He asks her to cheer up as she's gaining a son and losing a daughter-in-law! Stefano stays behind with Kate and comforts her. He thinks Lucas will come around and advises her to show Lucas some sympathy.

While Sami waits at the church for EJ, she lights a candle and tells God, he mustn't be happy with her dishonoring her wedding vows. Colleen appears to Sami and urges her to think about her true feelings for EJ but Sami lashes out that just because she was in love with a man who deceived her, doesn't mean her story's the same. Colleen reminds Sami that she was no saint and Santo accepted the real her. Sami yells that her heart belongs to Lucas but Colleen thinks that someday, she'll find herself in EJ's room. She asks Sami to face her darkest desires. Sami yells at Colleen to shut up just as EJ shows up. He tells her she's free to return to Lucas. "I won't stop you," he says. Sami is confused and EJ tells her he knows it's difficult. Sami jumps up and runs out of the church to get air, but she runs into an ambush from the Bradys, who each tell her to call off the wedding. Sami tries to explain and things start spinning as she becomes disoriented and dizzy. Sami collapses to the floor.

Stefano arrives at the church and is happy to see EJ's confidence. EJ's sure he'll win Sami's trust and Stefano interjects, "And obedience." EJ laughs, "Of course! Of course!" They roar with laughter.

At home, Lucas is visited by Kate, who tells him she came to apologize. He refuses it and reminds her he has forgiven her a million times in the past. The only way she can get back into his life is if she stops the wedding, he says and slams the door in her face. Kate ponders this and checks her gun!

Back inside the apartment, a nurse helps Lucas with the babies while Lucas finds a lock box in a cupboard by the door. He finds a hidden key, unlocks the box and takes a gun out momentarily before returning it to the box and hiding the key once again.

Back at the church, Sami comes to and asks the family to support her. They tell her she has to choose whether she's a DiMera or a Brady. Sami gasps as they ask her to think about the consequences of her actions and say they'll stay all night if need be in order for her to choose her family. Sami chooses EJ and tells her dad nobody's stopping her.

Sami enters the church and tells EJ and Stefano she's going to get ready.

The Bradys leave the church and Roman tells Bo it's up to him now! Kayla apologizes to Roman and Steve tells him it's not over. "Damned right it's not," says Roman. They arrive at the pub moments later and Bo asks Roman for his weapon. Roman is surprised but gives it up, then leaves the pub. Hope thinks Bo did the right thing and comments that she's never seen Roman like this before.

Outside the pub, Steve says he's got to take off for a bit and Kayla asks if he's returning to the church. Steve denies it and kisses her goodbye.

Once Roman gets outside, he checks his ankle, where he finds another gun!

Back at the church, a woman dressed in black shows up and sits in a pew. It makes EJ nervous but Stefano says he sees women in black attending church in Italy all the time. The woman disappears but we see her again, fitting her gloves on when Sami comes down the aisle. Once Sami reaches EJ and Stefano and the priest, we see three arms sticking out of different positions, taking aim at the couple, from behind curtains in the vestibule.

Bo says, "Your uncle Roman is taking it personally." Shawn asks, "He's not going to the wedding?" Bo says, "I'd fear for Junior's life if he did!"

The priest asks Sami, "Do you take Elvis to be your husband, for better or worse, to love and to cherish until death do you part... you may kiss the bride." Suddenly we hear shots ring out.
