Bonnie and Patrick know something about the skeleton that Mimi and Max found, Belle and Shawn grow closer, and Marlena gets bad news regarding John.
At the Lockhart home, Nick rushes to hide in Chelsea's room when she arrives home. Chelsea notices that the living room is a bit of a shambles and asks her mom, "What happened here?" Billie lies and tells her daughter that she fell asleep on the sofa. Billie is delighted to hear that Chelsea got a job, but as Chelsea shows her mom her tips, she tells her that she was fired and explains the situation she had with Willow. Billie is supportive of her and isn't concerned when Chelsea promises her mom, "Don't worry. I'll get another job." As Chelsea watches Billie, she notices that something is up. She again asks, "Do you want to tell me what's bothering you?" Billie lies and tells her that she's fine, as we see Nick's belt lying on the floor, next to the sofa. Chelsea is a little sad when she finds out that Nick didn't leave anything for her from the 'Lonely Splicer' investigation. Billie tells Chelsea that it was rude of her not to call Nick to apologize for not being able to be her when he came over and she asks her daughter to be nicer to Nick. She asks Chelsea to define her relationship with Nick, and Chelsea confesses that Nick is her little lap dog but they’ll never be more than friends. Billie is relieved but still thinks Chelsea should be nicer to him or she'll lose his friendship. Chelsea sits down to remove her shoes and finds a man's belt. She thinks that it belongs to a man that Billie brought home tonight and confronts Billie, "You are so busted!" Billie tries to pretend that the belt belongs to Patrick, but Chelsea doesn't believe her, so Billie finally lies and tells her that she brought someone home. Chelsea is happy that her mom has moved on from Steve but wants to know more about the man. She goes off to take a shower.
Inside Chelsea's room, Nick quickly dresses. He notices his belt is missing and listens into Chelsea and Billie's conversation. He's a little wounded that Chelsea referred to him as a lap dog and tries to escape through the window but can't make it. He overhears Chelsea confront her mother about the belt and also overhears Chelsea say she's off to take a shower. He panics and runs around the room in search of a place to hide! He hides under the bed and sees Chelsea's bare legs as she removes her clothes. Chelsea hops into the shower and Nick runs out to the living room. Chelsea comes into the living room to ask for shampoo and notices Nick there! "What are you doing here again?" she inquires. Nick tries to lie but Chelsea pressures him. He lies to her and tells her that the guy's name is 'Dr. Shane Patton' and is a brain surgeon from 'San Diego' or 'San Francisco' or 'San.. Something'! Chelsea is excited and Nick promises to find out more about him soon. She smells ladies perfume on him and while Billie leaves to get the shampoo, she tells Nick that her mom was with a guy tonight. Nick laughs uncomfortably then promises to get her more information as he leaves.
At the hospital, Hope snuggles her daughter while she tells her that she would have realized that she wasn't Patrick's daughter as soon as she saw her because she looks exactly like her father - Bo! At that moment, Bo comes into the room with Marlena following. They moon over the darling child yet Bo is uncomfortable with Marlena and suggests he leave the ladies alone. Marlena stops him. She apologizes to Bo for accusing him of being responsible for John's predicament. She goes on to tell him that she didn't mean what she said, but was frightened for John. Bo thanks her and tells her that he's there for her. Marlena uses this opportunity to relay Bo's last words to her, right before he went into surgery. She tells Bo that John said the word "Killer", and Bo doesn't know what he could have meant. He agrees to ask Steve what his thoughts are and leaves for the cafeteria. After he leaves, Hope holds Marlena's hand and tells her friend that things will be alright. Marlena cries, "I don't know. All I know is that I just can't lose him." Marlena continues to cry and apologizes. She shares that she has been having mood swings lately. She smiles as she thinks about how her feelings for John have become stronger after her kidnapping. Hope understands where Marlena's coming from as she too feels the same way about Bo. Marlena goes on to tell Hope that John has made her feel stronger than ever and she can't believe that God would get her back together with John and then separate them once again. Hope comforts her and thinks that things will turn out.
Elsewhere in the hospital, Belle and Shawn wait as John goes through surgery. Belle struggles with her emotions as Shawn holds her close. She sees the woman from Java café (Beverly Healey) and looks puzzled to see her. When Beverly sees Belle, she dashes off. This piques Belle's curiosity so she goes after her and finds the woman with a little boy (Eli) and a doctor. When the woman drops her badge, Belle finds out that the woman works for Child Protective Services. The woman darts off with the child.
Bonnie arrives at Salem PD, to meet Mimi. They are both stunned to find out that Patrick kidnapped Hope and that Bo is the father of Hope's baby - not Patrick! Mimi can't believe that all of this is happening and tells her that there's more. She informs her mom that she and Max found a skeleton in the basement closet of the church. When Mimi informs her mom that the skeleton is not as old as it was originally thought to be, Bonnie starts to panic. She demands to know more details, so Mimi tells her about the ring with the insignia that was on the skeleton. Bonnie almost collapses after hearing this news but covers it by telling Mimi that she's upset because of Patrick's issues. She begs Mimi to go to 'county lock up' with her, and they leave.
In county lock up, Patrick apologizes to his family for putting them through this yet again. He admits that he did kidnap Hope but tells them that he'll never be in this kind of trouble again. Mimi is concerned about him but he promises Mimi that he'll be alright. Bonnie pressures Mimi to share the news about the skeleton in the abandoned church. This perks Patrick up. She informs her brother about what's going on and explains that the murderer killed the guy, dressed him in the civil war uniform, and then moved his body to the basement afterwards. Bonnie looks suspicious and tells Patrick that this is very interesting and then she asks him for money to help get a Lawyer. Patrick asks her to give him the money back that she stole from him, and Mimi and Patrick both ask her where the money went to but she doesn't answer. Instead she becomes defensive. Mimi offers Patrick what little money that she saved from her waitressing tips, and Patrick is grateful. Bonnie asks Mimi to leave she and Patrick alone so that Bonnie can talk to her son. She warns him, "If the police ever id who those bones belong to, you and I are in big trouble." Patrick is doubtful that the police will worry about the bag of old bones. Later, Bonnie warns Mimi not to get involved in the skeleton investigation and once Mimi leaves, Bonnie makes a phone call to her son (Connor) and tells him, "Your brother is in jail again, and you sister has stumbled upon something." She asks him to get his butt back to Salem. "We've got work to do," she says.
Shawn meets with Bo in the hospital corridor. They bond over the new baby and agree that it's ironic that they both had daughters that they didn't know about. Shawn shares the news with his dad about how he and Belle are getting back on track, and he apologizes for not listening to his dad when he told him that EJ was bad news. Bo hugs Shawn and tells him he's proud of him. Belle shows up and Bo hugs her as he comforts her about her dad. He leaves to go to the cafeteria and Belle tells Shawn that she's very suspicious of that woman she found. Ever since Claire was kidnapped, she has been over protective. She tells Shawn that the woman was trying to hide the fact that she worked for Child Protective Services. She wonders if they woman was at the café that day to investigate them; after all, she was asking an awful lot of personal questions of them. Shawn promises to protect the three of them and hugs her. Bo arrives back with Dr. Tucker to tell Belle that John is out of surgery and that the doctor wants to talk to both she and Marlena.
In Hope's hospital room, the family is told that John had two bullets in him and that he may have brain damage. Hope, Bo, Shawn, Belle and Marlena hold hands as Hope says a prayer for John. She asks that he "Please have the strength to survive and come back to those who need him."

Kayla opens up to Hope, "I have this fear that someday I'm going to wake up, and he's going to be gone."
