Happy 44th Anniversary, Days Of Our Lives!

Sunday, November 08 2009

"Tom and Alice Horton" (NBC)
It all started out when rebellious Julie Olson, (Charla Doherty), was arrested for stealing a fur coat from a department store in order to get the attention of her parents, Addie Horton Olson (Patricia Huston) and Ben Olsen (Robert Knapp). Of course, she lied to the police, telling them her surname was Horton and got her grandparents Tom and Alice involved. Since that day, November 8, 1965, there has been a cornucopia of drama, romance, and adventure being played out.

Sunday November 8, 2009 marks Days of Our Lives’ 44th Anniversary. To celebrate, Soaps.com would like to congratulate the show on 44 entertaining years and show the fans the very first opening sequence, along with clips from the first episode.

The episode 1 cast included Macdonald Carey (Dr. Tom Horton), who incidentally has been the voice in the opening sequence all these years, Frances Reid (Alice Horton), who is now a recurring character, Marie Cheatham (Marie Horton), John Clarke (Mickey Horton), Dick Colla (Tony Merritt), Charla Doherty (Julie Olson), Robert J. Stevenson (Detective Mike), Geraldine Lawrence (Diane), and Simone Pascal (Carol Proctor).

The first episode takes place at the Horton house, the police station and Bartlett's Department Store.

Happy 44th B-day to Days....
I began watching in 1981 and my favorite Days' moments are: Bo & Hope's first meeting at Doug's Place on the Lake. Bo was giving tennis lessons at Doug's and Hope and her cousin, Melissa Horton were candy-stripers at Salem University Hospital that summer; Bo spirting Hope away from the church as she is about to marry DA Larry Welch: the entire scene was set to Bonnie Tyler's "I Need a Hero." When Larry lifts his bride's veil, he reveals Howie Hofstedter in drag. Kristin DiMera and Susan Banks were hilarious to watch and another favorite story.

Happy 44th Anniversary DOOL!!!!!!

Bo kidnapping Hope when she was going to marry Larry was one of my favorites also. Especially when they pulled up Hope's vail to find Howie. I always like the trimming the Christmas tree episodes. Too many good ones to count. Thanks Days, for all the great memories.

Happy Birthday DOOL! I've been watching since 6 months after it began. YOu are a very important part of my life.
Most memorable moments were when I began watching during the Susan Hunter, David Martin, Julie Olsen triangle of Susan getting pregnant by David who was Julie's boyfriend.
Other great memories were all the talented singers who were on the show when they had clubs for them to perform in - Bill Hayes, Gloria Loring, and Patty Weaver and so many more.
