Kinsey following in Jan Spears footsteps! (Soaps.com)
These are the "Days" of my week for July 27-31:

The big news this week is that not only did I report that Louise Sorel would be returning to Salem to play one of my favourite villainesses, Vivian Alamain, but following news earlier in June that Crystal Chappell is returning as Carly Manning, we reported yesterday that her real life husband, Michael Sabatino will also return as Lawrence Alamain! There has been much discussion about the show letting go of Felisha Terrell (Arianna) and hiring Lindsay Hartley (ex-Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald, Passions) to portray Arianna Hernandez. Some non-Passions fans are unimpressed with having all these Harmony residents turn up in Salem, but most seem to be thrilled with this bit of news. 68% of readers of my article on Lindsay have said they’re thrilled she’s coming to Salem. I’m torn. I think she’s great, but am concerned that this tactic to get more viewers will have the writers looking to get Ethan and Theresa back together. It could work out wonderfully or could spell disaster. Brady is in no way Ethan, and Arianna is nothing like Theresa. Let’s hope the writers keep it that way.

This week, I had a very difficult time getting into the show, when I should have been very interested in the goings on, especially with Daniel being arrested and booked for attempted murder, I felt somehow disconnected. Let’s find out why and I'd love to hear if you felt the same or not!

Safe:
Rafe deserves a gold star for being most romantic man on the show right now. Quite possibly, he might be the most romantic man in Salem for a while. I’m glad Meredith is in town, to try to make him look like a murdering SOB, because that in turn, should make me invest in him more. I’m torn – really torn about Sami meddling in Rafe’s personal history. She harassed him the entire week, demanding to know every little aspect of his personal life before her. Typical Sami. Nobody can have secrets except for her. Sure, she should know a lot about the person she is living with, but shouldn’t it come out as time passes? Is nothing organic? Both my husband and I are still finding out about each other after knowing each other several years, and neither of us is rushing anything. Oh yes, neither of us is as insecure as our friend Sami! Rafe’s not comfortable being coerced into telling his tale, and Sami potentially could have made things worse by telling all of her dirty little secrets in exchange for learning about his issue with his dead fiancée. Sami needs a friend (or her mother) to unload on who will tell her to relax. She needs a job. If she weren’t so focused – so obsessed with Rafe and his past, maybe he would have opened up. Maybe not. I’m not sure. Maybe he needs to deal with this baggage before they go further, though. He’s the strong silent type, which to me means boring and annoying, but some women like this. This means Sami needs to let him get out of his shell without her extracurricular game playing if she wants to keep him. Sami is lucky that Rafe clued in and realized that the more open they are with each other, the more they’ll get to know each other and I imagine it’ll mean he’ll trust her more. I have one beef. Sami lied to Rafe all week long and kept things from him, and then when he called her on it, there was no explosion. I was surprised and a little bored and surprised that it bored me.

We saw a flashback with Emily, dead in Rafe’s hands, after the car accident. So what we’re asking is why did he tell Sami he could have prevented her death? That could mean a few different things. I won’t bother to figure out what. I’m sure Meredith will tell Sami everything next week!

I’m annoyed that Sami told Nicole she and Rafe broke up. They didn’t. They had an argument and Rafe left to get air and deal with his issues. How is this a break-up? How old is she? They had a disagreement!! Jeeps!

Bradianna:
Arianna bought something from some slime ball at the pier. I’m just going to go ahead and assume it’s cocaine, because of Brady’s addiction to coke. So Arianna bought coke from some slime ball. Was it for her own nose or is she trying to set up Brady or do I really care? I like her but I’m still not invested in her, but if she’s planning on going against my Brady, I’m invested.

EJole:
We don’t see enough EJ these days because James Scott is on holiday. Shame, though I’m glad we don’t have to listen to him scream at Nicole for a while. There’s time enough for that! I hope the actor is saving his voice because oh boy, when the baby switch comes out, it’ll be scary! EJ seems to be a slave to his dreams. Whenever he dreams about Samanther, those old feelings of love go coursing through him. One could argue that the feelings aren’t real because of the dreams, but I don’t think that’s where the writers are going with this. I had to laugh when Nicole reminded EJ that he had sex with not only her but Sami, in a matter of days. Boy, she says it like that, it really does sound like a bad thing! *wink* Not for him, of course! EJ told Nicole about Chloe’s coma and she broke down. She immediately went to her side and it became all about Nicole! You’ve got to appreciate her selfishness! I dug her scenes with Brady and how they’ve promised to stand by one another and by poor Chloe. Since both of them know that Chloe and Daniel were in love, they’ll be able to make good use of this knowledge when it comes time for court.

Stefano:
Stefano gave EJ sound advice – I think! He told his son he finds EJ’s feelings for Samanther to be unhealthy and asks him not to fixate on a dream. Could it be? Did he learn something from his obsessive ways? I’m not saying EJ is fixated, because I don’t think EJ and Stefano are cut from the exact same piece of cloth. Maybe close, but no longer exact.

Stefano and Meredith:
Not invested in this story and she’s going to write a tell-all to Sami and leave town, August 6, with room to return for revenge. Stefano brought her to town, but it’s still not clear why she’d return to her home town that she claims to hate, on the whim of some man she has never met – Stefano. How did he get her there? I’m completely baffled by what this is about and wish it would simply go away. I can’t put too much stock in what Meredith says, anyway. Whatever Rafe did, I’m thinking that it’s not as horrible as anything Sami or EJ or Stefano or Kate has done. Rafe is one of the good guys. I’ll maintain that.

Is the cop also Ciara's "friend?" (Soaps.com)
Younger Crew:
Yay the gym set has returned! I dig the interaction at the gym. It’s perfect timing too, considering most of the story is either at the hospital or at the jail at the moment. We now have this great fluffy balance with the high school crew and the geezers. Kinsey is a classic Jan Spears-type, insecure and a bully, jealous of Mia, and we’ll find out if she’s as unbalanced as Jan Brittney Spears was. Kinsey is going to try to break up Mia and Will so she can have Will for herself and Chad can get Mia back. The only issue I have with this is that Will and Mia haven’t been dating that long. I can’t really tell if they’re dating at all. I’d have liked to see a few more dates and kisses to show they care for each other, before we try to break them up! I’m not yet sure which camp I’m in, if any. I like Chad and Will.

Snow White:
I feel for Chloe. Everyone’s talking about her private affair that’s none of their damned business and she can’t even speak for herself. The affair came out in a distasteful manner, though I’m not sure how an affair can come out in any other manner, but the wicked witch of Salem (Kate) told Lucas and she was a real hag about it. Did you notice how quickly Lucas pieced everything together? What a wiz. (My head spun!) Suddenly, he realized it happened the night of their engagement party, he remembered what Maggie told him at Cheatin’ Heart when he was trashed and laid it all out for Daniel. Lucas accused Daniel of sleeping with his wife. (Sleeping. What is it with people who use that word? No sleep happened. They had sex. Sex and sleeping are extremely different!) I didn’t care for how Lucas kept calling Chloe filthy names, because I don’t see her as a trollop. Misguided and human enough to make judgmental errors, yes, but it’s not like she had sex with the entire naval base somewhere. I know, I know, people automatically judge when angry, devastated and sickened. Just saying… Daniel tried to convince him that Kate’s the culprit, not him, but why would Lucas listen to him? I love that. It’s frustrating and I’m hoping those Daniel haters will start to feel something for this innocent man who is only guilty of having sex with another man’s wife. (Yes, that’s pretty bad, but he’s a saint compared to Kate!)

Digressing to what lead up to Daniel’s arrest. I love that Bo doesn’t believe Daniel’s a killer, but he’s hardly a good police officer, and that’s what counts. He has good gut instincts. I’ll give him that! His wifey-poo, Hope, the one good cop, should be running the show, starting with the searching of Daniel’s residence. Bo broke into Daniel’s apartment and rifled through his things without a search warrant. He called the police department while he was in Daniel’s apartment, to talk about obtaining a search warrant; so technically, anything he has found there should be inadmissible in court. Am I correct? Daniel is right. There are holes everywhere in this story! If Daniel really did get the drug from the pharmacist, wouldn’t the pharmacist’s fingerprints still be on the bottle? Why don’t they look for fingerprints on the prescription? They probably won’t find Daniel’s prints. Did Daniel have to do the police lineup so the pharmacist could identify him as being the one to get the prescription? Are there cameras in Salem Place that Bo could review? Were you as annoyed with gruff Abe for coming down on Bo so hard? Bo can’t seem to do his job without the ex-police commish on his arse. In this case, I think Abe should stay out of it and let Bo conduct his own case.

Philly offered to keep Victor and Kate away from Chloe, but when Lucas left Chloe’s side, Philly was nowhere to be seen. Kate’s been in her room a few times since and we know she’s not through with Chloe, so does that mean Lucas...poor down on his luck Lucas... will start catching on?

Kate must have more than one bottle of that toxic substance she gave Chloe, because she hid a bottle in Daniel’s apartment and later on, she gave Chloe more poison with another bottle, so if she hangs on to it, there may be proof that she did it, and not Daniel.

Kate and Victor’s scenes were classic this week. Victor was so cute with his one line zingers. He was happy to hear that Chloe was in a coma and knew Kate had something to do with it, but was angered that she’s got Daniel as her scapegoat. I was surprised he said he’d keep her secret and it didn’t make sense to me. Monday, the writers suddenly give Victor a reason to keep silent. Kate blackmails him, basically, with the threat of losing Philly.

That's a wrap up of the week. I trust you'll all have something to say about the week and I'll be interested in reading it! Feel free to follow us on Twitter for news, updates and teasers!

Happy trails!
