Say goodbye.... (Soaps.com)
These are the "DAYS" of my week for September 8-11:

This was a short week for DOOL, and was very balanced with humour, melancholy and excitement. Overall, I enjoyed the week but still find myself missing Jarlena. It’s a grieving process that’ll take time to get over!

Poor Bradianna. First, let me say that this week, Lindsay Hartley as Arianna has won me over. Holy chemistry! She’s vivacious and I can now see how much she really cares for Brady. I felt so sorry for both of them when she broke it off with poor confused Brady, who didn’t know what to say or do with the unexpected dumping. Victor, who is normally smarter, kind of goofed, I thought, when he told Ari that he wasn’t interested in getting involved or having her arrested for dealing in drugs. I mean, she’s already wondering what his problem is, but now she’s got to wonder why he didn’t turn her in! How exciting! And more so that he thinks she’s a drug dealer but now we all know different, after seeing her scene with Roman. I’m so thrilled Roman’s getting his own storyline and I think Ari has a less than perfect past but that she’s trying to go straight or helping Roman in order to avoid jail. Thoughts?
My only beef? Melanie telling Brady that if Ari claimed not to be in love with Brady that she was lying. They’ve only been on a few dates and most haven’t gone well! They had sex, but none of that shows me love. I will chalk it up to what happens in Salem off screen… when we sleep!

Bope heading for a breakup still seems too far-fetched to me. Differing opinions aside, Ciara’s fine. Maybe I’m not putting myself in Hope’s shoes enough. Not that I’m siding with Bo, if it were up to me, neither of them would have been on the case. Bo did go rogue and that’s great if you’re a cop, but not a father or husband. Still, it got the job done. Ciara’s fine and though I understand Hope didn’t like the way he took charge, I still can’t side with her. Anyway, Ciara remembered the sound of a Zippo lighter clicking open and closed from her time in captivity and told mummy, "That’s him!" (That Dean was the third kidnapper.) Did you hold your breath waiting for Hope to respond? Dean saw the look of dawning on her face and acted fast. When Justin came to the door to check on Hope, (There’s something just not right to me there.) he realized by her lie about how she loves to cook and has something on the stove, that something was up. I thought that was a really nice touch but made me laugh out loud, and I’m not sure I should have been laughing during a hostage situation. I’m just glad the whole sordid mess is over. Now we have to deal with the aftermath, because knowing Hope, she’ll be angrier than ever that Dean wasn’t caught sooner. Friday’s show ended the kidnapping storyline thank goodness and again, made me laugh! When Justin got shot and Dean got up, Hope wanted to find out if Justin was alright. Dean kicked Justin’s foot hard and said, "Doesn’t seem like it." (I laughed my arse off!) He then accused Hope of killing him, Brenda and the other guy, whatshisface. When Bo saved the day, I thought it might count for something, until Dean’s mouth started flapping again and he accused Bo of the deaths of Dean’s gal pal and her brother. I saw Bope’s eyes meet and it was very telling.

Victor:
I don’t get how Victor can be so caring and understanding with Bo and his issues with Hope and the kidnapping and act so callous with everyone else. He’s intriguing. Friday too, he and Philly had a heart to heart and he droned on about how much family meant to him, so Philly moved back into the manse. What is Victor up to now!?

Victor... a softie? What's going on! (Soaps.com)
Rafe really rocked when he confronted Nicole with what Sister Theresa confessed to him, about "Mary" (Nicole) visiting her after promising Nicole that she would keep it quiet. For a nun, even though Rafe is close to her, she sure doesn’t know how to keep quiet! Rafe’s on to Nicole and realized what we already know about Nic, which is that when her lips move, you know there are lies being told. Their scenes were filled with fun and he sure made her squirm – just when she thought she was home free, after destroying the letters from Baker to Samanther and Mia. The baby swap storyline is finally looking up a little though Nicole’s character isn’t.

Samanther/EJ:
It was good to see Sami calling on her dad, Roman, since she has no friends and Caroline’s MIA. Sami admitted she loved Rafe still. Obviously. I mean did anyone ever doubt that? It’s been a week since the break-up! The scene with EJ in the park was well done, and I think Samanther did put herself in his shoes. There’s nothing she can do to change the past and Elvis will take time to get over the pain of it all and grief. I thought it was ridiculous that Sami would question him about Nicole’s hatred for Rafe and even sillier that EJ would carry her words back home to Nicole. I still say EJ doesn’t really have much of a reason to be on to Nicole for anything. He’s always working and she has explained away any issues he may have had with her in the past few months quite brilliantly. Why would he care if she doesn’t like Rafe when he can’t stand the man, himself. Wouldn’t he assume that her feelings for Rafe mirror his own?! I assume we’re to keep in mind he’s a DiMera and because they’re not trustworthy, he can’t trust anybody else. If that were my husband… see ya! But of course, Nicole deserves his lack of trust so I digress. Look for him to call off the honeymoon to Paris and for Nicole to consider moving there! Anything to get away from all those lies piling up!

Melanie made me so sad this week. She got it from Stephanie, and Philly and wound-up-tight Nathan. I’m torn with how I feel about what she did to Stephanie. They were friends and Mel had no business having sex with a friend’s ex, but I still can't get too broken up for Steph because I haven’t liked her with Philly for a while and because I’m mostly indifferent towards her these days. What about Nathan? Is he upset with Melanie because…

a) She betrayed a friend?
b) She got it on with Philly and he likes her.
c) She didn’t sneak into his bedroom across the hall, instead?

Mia:
Will read her diary, but in his defense, he was trying to wipe up a spill next to her computer and his eyes kind of wandered. Maybe if she wanted to keep it so private, she shouldn’t write in public? At any rate, he broke up with her after realizing she’s got a special bond with Chad and she refused to tell him what that bond was. I’m not sure how to take this. A big part of me is leaning towards her getting back together with Chad, when I’m probably "supposed to be" rooting for Will, but that could change. I can understand why he’d dump her. He’s had enough lies to last him a lifetime. Good for him for doing the right thing, but you know the truth will come out soon and it’s likely he’ll be fine with it.

To wind things up, the humour in the kidnapping storyline is something I will miss but the storyline itself needed to end. The week was strangely fun to watch, even though there were many issues that I chose not to focus on! Friday’s show was absolutely amazing and funny to me probably when it shouldn’t have been but I’m not complaining! Nicole and Rafe are so much fun together, sparring and all in all, the week was a good one and I look forward to the next, issues and all. How about yourself? I'd love to hear from you, whether you agree or disagree and am interested in your thoughts more than you know! If you'd like to have a few laughs, feel free to read Matt's Musings over on our sister site, Soap Opera Fan. He has a different take than me this week and is spot on, in my eyes, with loads of laughs! Enjoy!

Have a great weekend, everyone. If you’re in Toronto, be sure to check out a few films at the Toronto Film Festival and wander around Yorkville where you’ll catch a glance of a few celebrities making the rounds. Though I have yet to see one, my friends have spotted a few!

Nice Update Chrissy and Thanks!!!

Best part for me...the week was Danloe free! Yep!!! Hooray!
Talk about a couple who's never had a date yet their in love? I don't get it but that's fine, I'm just so glad my favorites are on getting more screen time! Woo hoo!

I felt bad for Melanie, I did and I do. Phillip is hot then cold to her then hot again? yet he suppose to Love Stephanie so...I'm confused on this and Nathan- he needs to chill out a bit and let Melanie explain some things to him, he gets me mad when he cuts her off- grrr!!!

Brady and Ari- hmm, well I prefer Brady with someone else but I can't help to tune in because I adore EM so much that I just try to ride the wave and see it play out. LH is a wonderful actress I'm just confused about Arianna's character- is she a once good girl that made some bad choices and is helping Roman to get herself out of hot water or what? I think LH's take on the character is different than FT's so I'm not sure how Arianna is "suppose" to be, but anyway.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Be Safe!

rafe and nicole make me think back to nicole and lucas...LOL

Thanks Chrissi for your thoughts. I envy you being close to tiff.

I believe that Days has improved in their writing & s/l minus a few glitches (Dean s/l). I liked the fact that Ari has "past" and is being forced to do the undercover gig. I also liked that Roman is part of the story arc. He derves one!

I think Nathan is upset at Mel because of a) Steph is/was a friend & b) He is starting to like Mel.

I was rooting for Rafe and his full force attempts to catch Nicole. His scenes with Nicole were a hoot to watch.

I have to say I am hoping that Chad wins back Mia. He is much more fun & seems to care about Mia. Will is much too passive. Maybe things will change once the baby secret is revealed.

2boyzrule, your comments always rock!

Everyone have a safe & happy weekend & Holiday(for US posters)!!

I just don’t like Lindsey as Ari, her expressions are the same, and she looks scared to death all the time.

I like Mel, but if she goes back to Philip, then she deserves what she gets, because we all know that if Stephanie says jump Philip will ask how high!

Rafe is the man this week, he is hot on Nicole’s trail, and I love watching her squirm. One of these days Stefano won’t be able to help her, too many people are finding out bits and pieces of the baby switch for him to get rid of them all.

EJ has to be the biggest loser and jerk, he thinks he is a man by yelling at Sami, but when a real man comes along like Brady, he runs the other way like the coward he is.

I was glad to see Brady and Sami talking, the show needs more family interaction, in a week or two Rafe comes up missing, and Sami goes to find him, it would be nice if Brady helped her.

I can’t finger out Ari, if she is working for Roman, then her past can’t be that bad, or is Roman a bad cop, after all the years of torture that Stefano put Roman threw, maybe he has snapped.

Bo and Hope please, please let this be the end of the kidnapping. Let them be happy and go after Kate, Victor, Stefano, Nicole, and EJ, this list should keep them busy for awhile.

Hi. Chrissy. Thanks for the comments.

I thought every one of this week's episodes were very good. In fact I watched every one twice just so I didn't miss any details. I think it was an important week. (I kept hoping they would surprise me and Jarlena would just show up in some scene, but it didn't happen. At least not yet!:)I will never give up hope.

Here are some of my impressions:

Sami:

Seems to me that Sami has finally learned from her past mistakes and is now in "no secrets and no lies mode." I like this about her. It means she has become a very brave person. I think that sometimes people keep secrets and lie in order to protect their loved ones...but most of the time it is because they are afraid. Cowards. Sami has been through so much that I don't think she is afraid of anything anymore. She intends to put the truth out there and face whatever comes. Days needs a strong character like that and I think Sami will fill the role quite nicely.

Brady:

I love that Brady has finally acknowledged that he is Sami's "brother." Glad that he is the one who came along and rescued her from the wrath of EJ. I hope they have many more scenes like this together. I'm also glad that he showed up just when Melanie was about to fall prey to Philip again. I think Brady called it right. Philip's apology to Melanie was insincere and creepy. IMO

Nathan:

Right now, I think he is kind of weird. I don't think he has a romantic interest in Melanie at all. He kind of sees the good in Melanie, and then she goes and does something totally off the wall; like sleeping with Philip..and I believe what he feels is more dissappointment than anger. Kind of like he sees a lot of potential in Melanie, but she kind of "stumbles" when he least expects it and in ways that he does not see coming. KWIM?

Melanie:

I think perhaps she just needs to figure out who her real friends are, and that would not be Philip..or Stephanie. At least, not right now. She does not seem to realize that she is a much better person than either one of them will ever be, and trying to be a friend to them is just bringing her down.

Arianna:

I think this new Arianna won me over this week. It was so obvious that she was completely heartbroken over having to let Brady go. I really felt for her, but now I guess she knows how Rafe is feeling.

Hope:

I still don't get why she would still be mad at Bo. Dean admitted to her face that he was out to cause her as much pain as possible. And yes. I think he would have killed Cierra right in front of her had she handed over that money.
She is playing right into his hands. I think there is something else going on with Hope. Don't know what it is, but she is just not making any sense right now.

Mia and Will:

I am glad that Will finally called Mia on keeping secrets. Mia is a lot more like his mother than she realizes. I hope Will sticks by his principles until Mia comes clean. He cannot be of any help to her until she does.

The only thing I missed this week other than the abscence of John and Marlena was the abscence of Lucas. I am worried about him.

Firebird85- Thanks for the nice compliment. Have I seen you on the GH site too? I think we have more in common on that show too! *wink*

Bghwme- I worry about Lucas (BD) too but I think his "dark s/l" is coming up or so I hope that's still the plan.

I forgot to say that I'm enjoying the Rafe and Nicole stuff.

I adore Bope but I must say I'm glad the actors are keeping their jobs and having a s/l that's front and center but poor little Ciara is going to have problems with all that has happened to her- I just hate seeing this family so torn up but PR and KA can bring the drama so well...I just wished they would have some romance every now and then too. Happy times are good for everyone, right? Please I pray Justin and Hope just remain friends!!!

good for will for calling mia out on her lies. good thing she is supposed to be coming clean next week. i'm rooting for them two. as for chad, once this baby storyline is over i think melanie could give him a run for his money (i'm just a fan of the real life couple of Casey Deidrick and Molly Burnett-follow them on Twitter, they're great!) can't wait for the fallouts this fall and the returns of some great characters. i'm so excited!!!

Chrissy,

Great comments.

I didn't know if I would like LH, but the chemistry is really there and she has won me over too. It is nice to see Roman get a storyline, but I don't think they'll be able to pin the drug thing on Victor, unless they plan to let him go from the show. Then again, it looks like Kate might get out of her problem in an unexpected way. Originally, I wanted Brady with Nicole, but I can't seem to make up my mind now.

BOPE: I agree with you about the far-fetched angle and how it is a set up for Carly. Could be interesting, though. I was leaning mostly on BO's side in the decision to not just give them the ransom. Psycho Dean would have probably killed her anyway. After all, he did have the vision, didn't he? Being a mom, I do get Hope's reaction and probably would have felt the same way in her shoes at the time. But how many times can she tell BO how much she loves them and then leave him again? And let's put some more upheaveal in Ciara's life and stay mad at each other. That will help her! Well, glad that storyline is done and we can move on.

VICTOR: That was a great line from Phillip in that scene about his father approving of him now that's he's been in a porn vid. I was just hooting at that one.

MELANIE: I felt for Melanie too. It was nice that Brady was there for her, since everyone else was treating her like she was stuff you would find on the bottom of your shoe. I don't know why she slept with Phillip unless she really is in love with him. Of course, she's obviously confused, and so I'm confused. I thought the chemistry between Melanie and Phillip was a lot more hot than between him and Stephanie. The character of Stephanie has become pretty much boring at this point. I don't think there is chemistry between Mel and Nathan other than in a friend or brotherly way. I thought that maybe Phillip had finally come to his senses about Stephanie and Melanie the night she slept with him, and when he dropped her the next day, I just wanted to strangle him. He seems to be following in Victor's footsteps; they go back and forth between seemingly different personalities. You could say they are four different people. Or maybe that's true of all the characters.

SAMI: I'm loving Sami right now. Allison Sweeney is great. I am still an EJAMI fan, but Sami seems really stuck on RAFE, and I do hope that Sami can find whoever and be the new super couple, since JARLENA is there. Missing them too. Sami really needs her mom right now and so it was nice to see her and Brady interacting.

Will and Mia: I am glad Mia is finally going to tell Will about the baby and understand Will's confusion with the whole Chad thing. But some things like her pregnancy should be her own business and does anyone really have the right to demand she spill it? I know it has to happen for the storyline, but aren't some things just too personal to share? It's not like they're getting married or anything. Now Will will probably have to keep the secret from Chad. The thing about revealing secrets is that those you confide in now have to join you in the duplicity. Doesn't Will get that demanding answers may bring him into something he doesn't want any part of?

Anyway, so far this new week has been pretty hot. Things are definitely starting to pick up and I'm looking forward to them.
