Hef's long lost son? (Soaps.com)
These are the "DAYS" of my week for June 8-12:

The week started out depressing and devastating for more than one character.

Daniel/Danloe... and her husband:
First of all, I know you're all wondering how Chloe can be so angry for Lucas for keeping Sami's secret from him, but she's only human, and secrets hurt, no matter which ones she's keeping. Just because Chloe is keeping her massive secret, doesn't mean he can keep secrets from her, either. You know the saying, two wrongs don't make a right and all that rut? This whole admission from Lucas threw me. It wasn't his secret to tell and I didn't think he should have told it. It was none of Chloe's business and was told for one reason - to make Chloe feel guilty, to ponder their marriage, because she's so daft she can't ponder it on her own...

Daniel became more human this week, because he couldn’t save a patient. He even broke down, crying and pushed the very married Chloe away, when she tried to comfort him. He told her to go back to her H U S B A N D. Later in the week they met up again and Chloe admitted she loved Daniel more than Lucas. He maintained he wasn’t going to allow her to break up her marriage to Lucas. He said he couldn’t stand if Lucas drunk himself into oblivion because of this. Did this matter for anybody? I see Daniel as a man in love. If you haven’t thought so up until now, did this convince you? Did you also like the shot of his bare chest? Heh, I digress. You know Chloe and Daniel are going to end up on Hearth and Home together, and that’s when Kate will exploit their relationship. For somebody who cares for Lucas as much as Kate says, she sure has a funny way of showing it. Not that I’m surprised. More about her, below.

Female Medication:
Kate has been practicing her forgery skills as of late. She stole a blank prescription form from Daniel, wrote up a prescription for a toxic substance and hired a Daniel look-alike to dress up in scrubs and pick up the prescription for her. We can deduce from this that she is planning on setting up Daniel for murder. She’s unhinged. Lucas caught her with the drug and Lucas being Lucas, demanded to know what was in the vial. What if it really was a female medication? The guy is wound up tighter than anybody I know. He needs to take it down a few notches. I realize that he’s supposed to ask Kate about the vial [of toxic surprise] so that when Kate poisons Chloe with it, Lucas can flash back to this conversation and nail her. His own mum! It could happen! Then he’d disown her again!

Grace’s death:
I wished this was kept more secret from the online community. It really spoils the show and ratings when people spill too much information too much in advance. I hope that for many, it was a surprise twist to kill off poor little Grace. It wasn’t easy to watch. It was so well done that if the players involved and the show doesn’t get a nomination or Emmy for it next year, I’ll be surprised. It affected so many - not just Sami and Rafe, but Johnny, Allie, Mia, Daniel, Nicole, Roman and Caroline, Will… EJ…Missing of course was Marlena and John, Steve and Kayla and even Bo and Hope, though I know Sami has never been close with them. The death happened rather quickly and thankfully so, considering how devastating it was and how depressed it made us all! Sami going home and seeing Grace’s things was poignant and broke my heart all over again and a third time when she woke up from a dream that Grace was still alive. Fantastic work from everyone involved.

There seems to be some argument on the boards about whether or not Sami did the right thing by withholding the truth about Grace’s paternity from EJ until after her death. What are your thoughts? Please feel free to vote!

Sami admitted to EJ, after Grace died, that he was her father. There are what, two or three sides to everything? I want to explore them from both Sami and EJ’s point of view. Sami admitted to EJ that she not only kept Grace’s paternity from him because she wanted to protect her, but she did it because of her jealousy over Nicole. She decided, after seeing them together having sex on the DiMera sofa, to keep it a secret, and when she ran around to the front of the house, she fell over Marino’s body and spotted our no-name hit man. So she had two reasons in the same day to want to keep the secret. If she hadn’t found the mayor, would she have told him sooner? Possibly, I mean, she tried a few times to do so but his criminal activities kept her from being honest. Did she deserve some of his wrath for keeping Grace from him out of jealousy? I think so. He was profoundly shocked and lashed out as only he could. I did feel for him. He didn’t get to know his daughter and now she’s dead. How horrible for anyone! I’m not a fan of these big secrets. On the other hand, EJ’s a criminal. What did he expect? EJ said some pretty ugly things to her, kicking her when she was down, but she had to know he’d react this way, so I don’t feel bad for her for that. Then again… Like I’ve said, EJ’s no saint. He’s got numerous skeletons in his closet. (Yes, I know. So does Sami!) One in particular stands out for me, today. He played with the lives of Belle/Phillip, Mimi and Shawn when he, as the black glove killer, switched the petri dishes in the hospital so that Belle became preggers with Shawn’s kid, while married to Philip. If I believed in karma, I’d say he just got his. Now Sami thinks EJ’s a good father, as she has pointed out on many different occasions, but if she really thought he was a good father, wouldn’t she have told him the truth as soon as she found out? Then again, what constitutes a good father? Doesn’t a good father protect his children from crime and criminals – such as himself? So many questions. What would I have done in Sami's place? I wouldn't have been with a criminal in the first place but if I was that hard up, I'd have had protection.

What happens when the truth about Sydney comes out? Will he still hate her for the rest of his life and hope she suffers until the day she dies? Is there still a chance for Ejami? Do you want there to be one? Does EJ’s criminal actions make you feel as though Sami did the right thing, or is the truth always the way?

Youthful comb over? Actually looks good. (Soaps.com)
Roman and Caroline:
I’d have loved to see Bo and Hope in these hospital scenes, along of course with Marlena, John, Steve and Kayla, but it was nice to see Caroline and Roman’s moving reaction to Grace’s passing.

Victor and Brady:
Now that the kidnapping is over and Stephanie’s safe, Victor wants to make amends with Brady, but Brady wasn’t exactly ready for that and told his grandfather to go to hell. After Victor offered his grandson some tea, and a piece of pie, to sweeten the deal, he softened Brady up and explained that he made a mistake and wants him back in his life. Brady finally agreed to move back in and they shook hands. Victor’s quite convincing and he’s so cute. I can’t help it. The offering of pie made me laugh out loud! Now Victor wants to bury the hatchet with Stefano - not in him. New storyline?

Stefano/Nicole:
My two favourite characters this week? Nicole and Stefano! These two in cahoots crack me up. Stefano was oddly cute, the way he kept sneaking up on her to discuss their secret. If this gets out, can you imagine how EJ will explode? This week was bad enough. What will happen once he finds out what Nicole has done? What about what’s to come for Stefano? Would EJ forgive his father for keeping this secret, after all EJ has done for him? Would EJ then tell Sami the truth or would it be payback time for her?

I’m afraid for Nicole, the delusional wench. Grace’s death made me hurt for Mia, Nicole, EJ and Sami, for different reasons. Mia was lucky enough to be a part of her daughter’s life, though she doesn’t know Grace was hers, Sami lost a child, but her own is still out there, Nicole truly feels guilt over what she has done, which is a start. I wasn’t sure I could find a redeeming quality in her but I found one. She did care about Grace in her own way and wanted God to punish her for her sins, instead of having Grace die. (Good writing.) EJ…I even felt horrible for him, and before you wonder why… he’s still human! I haven’t forgotten his misdeeds but that scene of him crying over Grace’s body was heart wrenching.

Chax:
Chelsea returned to Salem to bring back her man. Nookie was had a few times and at some point, she asked Max if he’d move to England with her. She backed off when he showed her that he was accepted – with a full scholarship, no less, to medical school. He decided to forgo his career and future earnings and shack up in London with Chelsea, where Uni is free and I’m sure he’ll get into Oxford Medical School!

Arianna/Bradianna:
Smart cookie, or is everyone else just oblivious? She’s the only one who pointed out just how strange it was that Rafe wanted to adopt Grace without marrying Sami. Highly unusual, and Arianna told Brady she thought Safe was hiding something. Arianna and Brady have got to stop "bumping into each other." Too repetitious for my taste.

Off the top of my head:
Sami told the twins about Grace’s passing by using a children’s book about a child dying. Well done. Where did she get that book from so quickly? Salem Place? Just wondering.

I liked Wednesday’s show best. The sadness from Grace’s death carried over, but didn’t make for a completely morose day, because we saw so many other characters on the screen, such as Chax.

The sex on DOOL lately, is really graphic – in a good way – but nevertheless, it’s been more graphic than in the past. Danloe set the bar pretty high. Do you like this or do you feel it’s over the top?

EJ in that robe on Tuesday gave me a laugh. Look out Hugh Heffner!

On that note, I bid you all a good night and a good weekend.

Great rant, Chrissi! I agree with you on all of it and think Ali Sweeney and James Scott should definitely be nominated for Emmys for their performances! They both nailed it, hands down! I don't think I have ever seen Ali act as well as this week and it had to be very hard for her to do those scenes with a 6 month old daughter in real life!
Now to Kate, I really hope that someday she will finally get hers! She just takes the cake!
Lucas annoys the crap out of me too and shouldn't have told Sami's secret to Chloe when he promised not to!
I still love SAFE but I think we're going to find out some things about Rafe that might surprise us! JMO! But you know, nothing or no one is ever as it first seems! I think EJ is mad as heck right now at Sami and probably hates her, but I think deep down he still loves her as well! Ya know, I still think these two have great chemistry together even though I have switched sides to SAFE for now! Hey, a lady can always change her mind! Ha! It's all in fun anyway to me! Boy, but some of these posters sure are adamant with their choices! I always get a kick out of reading everyone's comments on this site!
And by the way, I think it would've been wonderful for at least John and Marlena to come to Grace's funeral! Still too sad they're gone from the show!
In closing, I always enjoy your thoughts every week and you and yours have a great and fun weekend!!!!!

Love your comments Chrissi, but seriously, with the death of poor little Grace, and the stellar performances the whole cast delivered, how could anyone notice what else went on in Salem this week? One thing I did notice, through all the emotion, Chloe was still walking around as stiff as a board. I don't hate her character, but she's useless...

I wish they would have saved Chelsea and Max's happily ever after for another time, it was hard to have any emotion towards this s/l with the death of baby Grace. In all honesty, I wanted to ffwd through everything else this week, but was scared to miss something involving the baby switch s/l. I did LOL at Stefano though when he said to Nicole "you did not include my name on the card?"

I also forgot to add that I'm disappointed that E.J only took one swing at Rafe, I wanted to see him beat him like he beat Patrick Lockhart, or like Phil beat Owen...

Hi Chrissy. I tried to only watch the show in bits and pieces this week. The story was just too much for me and tears were flowing like a river just thinking about watching it.

I did see most of Thursday and Friday's show. I think Sami did the right thing telling EJ when she did, although I wish she had told him sooner. I don't think it would have been right for Sami to accept kind words and comfort from EJ when she thought that it was his daughter that died. And EJ said himself that was what he came there to do.

EJ's reaction was understandable, but a bit over the top. I can understand him being furious that she hid his child from him, especially since she was going to let another man adopt her without ever telling him...but to accuse her of killing the baby was way too much.

I wish Marlena was here for Sami. I think Don Craig blamed Marlena when their child died too. Sami needs her mother right now like she has never needed her before.

I really don't like the Chloe, Lucas, Daniel, Kate storyline. Chloe is ridiculous, and Lucas deserves way better.

I really want to see Sami and Brady talk and Sami to tell Brady the whole story. He should start acting more like a brother to her. He keeps saying they were never close, but maybe it's time he did something about that.

I will be on vacation next week and won't be watching the show. Will have to catch as many episodes as I can on youtube.

More and more new people coming to Days, and some old characters coming back; but still no sign of John and Marlena.:(

Great rant Christine!! I agree completely with you on everything and I agree that Ali Sweeney and James Scott were simply amazing!! I think they should def. be nominated for Emmy's. They both preformed the scenes so well.
To Kate I hope she gets what she deserves, she is always meddling in her kids lives. Stay out of it, but I have a feeling that someone will make her pay. Lucas I feel is too good for me, he is so boring. I really don't appreciate him telling Sami's secret to Chloe. It was not his to tell. As far as Safe goes, I think that will be over very soon. I believe we are going to find out a lot of new info of Rafe that might suprise a lot of viewers. To me he is boring, and was the least eventful is this weeks storyline!!
As for EJ i think it's normal the way he is reacting, he just found out that he has been lied too by the woman he loves. So none of us could really judge him, because he was shocked, hurt, betrayed angry and sad at the same time.
I think deep down Sami is still the love of his life, and once he finds out about Sydney, and what Nicole has down, I believe that he will team up with Sami to bring Nicole and his father down!!
The good Ej will be back, the one that I love. The one where he is with Sami. EJami will come together eventually, there will be struggles, but that is what real love is made of.
EJ is a Dimera he will always be that, but with Sami by his side, he is more calm and more positive about life!!
He is a great father, and no matter what he will be more Mad at Nicole for what she has taken away from him and Sami.

Hi guys! Thanks for your comments.

I wonder what this Rafe deal is! I have to say that you all know I haven't been sold on Safe just yet but Monday's how.... very touching and awesome with these two! More about that next Friday! Just a note as well to let you know that I’m on holiday from June 19-28. I’ll be posting my blog next Friday and the week after it’ll be up that following Monday, June 29.

I’m so like you, Bwarner24. I change sides and see good and bad in all couples. It keeps it more fun for me, too!!
Laughing at Tess’s remarks. The Grace storyline was SOOOO incredible and yeah, kind of hard to focus on the rest of the stories. I totally agree about Chax. Lori’s DOOL blog is coming up in a few minutes and she touches more on that than I did, so I’ll add that link here.

I’m adoring Stefano and Nicole. OMG. LMAO about beating Rafe. Awe, but Rafe’s a nice man. Truly. I can’t see his past being that bad. I guess I’d be surprised if it were!!
Awe bghwme, I was totally the same as you this week. I cried during writing the recaps each and every time and it was killing me. I’m so thrilled to say I love DAYS again!! I think EJ was so hurt and shocked and he can be abusive, anyway, so thought his overreacting was spot on. Boy he can get ugly when he’s mad. Scary man! Have a happy vacation! I’ll try to post lots of photos for you to read the recaps!
I don’t think Jarlena will be back. It kills me to say so, but doesn’t seem to be in the cards.

Canadianejamigirl! Hi and thanks. Oh that Kate. She just bugs me. (Lauren can act!!) I too think that Ejami could possibly still get back together. I can’t discount anything just yet, because soapland rolls like that!!

PS If you're also a Y&R lover, at 4:20, I'll be on 103.9fm Proud FM with Spoilers. If you're not in Toronto, go to www.proudfm.com/shaun to listen! Shaun Proulx Show, afternoon drive. I do this each Friday!

Cheers!!!

I forgot to answer your question about the sex scenes. I'm not too fond of watch couples roll around in bed together.

I liked the really old days when the couple would be in a romantic embrace, a passionate kiss, and the man would pick the woman up and carry her off to the bedroom, then the door would close and the lights would fade out and the rest was left to the viewer's romantic imagination.

I thought that as much better.

You made the most valid point I haven't thought of or heard posted anywhere - if Sami really thought EJ was a good father, she would have told him the minute she found out she eas preggers with his baby

Posted by 2boyzrule at Friday, June 12 2009 03:54 PM

With everything going on with Baby Grace and the aftermath of her passing (so sad ) What I saw this week, under these terrible and sad circumstances was so fantastic acting by James, Ali and Ari. Just amazing!

Kate, I would like more/better for Kate at this point. I'm tired of her interfearing with her kids but that's just par for the course. Lucas, I don't feel he's the bad guy here. I think he wants to be honest with Chloe because he knows secrets aren't good in a marriage. Chloe really shocked me by saying someone else was in their marriage...yeah..he's name is Daniel Jonas! I found her to be a tad bit of a hypocrite- and as far as Daniel, wow! He thinks Chloe changed him and gave him a second chance at love after Rebecca? Hmm, maybe he should re-read his script from when he had that conversation with Victor at the hospital and he told Victor he hadn't felt this way about anyone since Rebecca and he wasn't going to give up on Chelsea, not at all. I guess the writers thought us viewers would forget that, whatever. I don't buy into seeing wet/dry dreams or flashbacks of sex that a couple is in love- I want to see their relationship develope, go slow and continue to blossom not just rolling around on sofa or floor having sex prior to any great convo's, romantic dates. You asked about sex on the show, I'm not fond of the soft core porn that Danloe had, yes I still stand by my thoughts on them- regardless if they are beautiful, I still feel they really lacked a loving, emotional s/l and it was all for the lust. JMO. I'm not sure if Danloe is over, but I'm guessing if it is for now this is one way to help redeem Chloe and Daniel by making him look like the good guy by telling her to go back to Lucas and be atleast a faithful wife (atleast since they got married she has been) and for Chloe it does the same- let's her honor her vowels. Just a way to pen redeemption.
Yes, Chloe seemed stiff at the hospital- just no emotions from her.

As much as I love RM, I felt that Chex s/l didn't fit into this weeks stuff. I think it could have been showed a week or so ago but regardless, I wish RM all the best!!! So glad she is going to be on Heroes! She's a doll!!!

Its great to hear everyone's thoughts about Ejami and Safe. I admit I like them both but Safe is has been pretty wonderful in my eyes. Classy, old soap style writing with romance, just my kind s/l. I don't know how all of this will play out in the end, but Days is certainly picking up the pace on this story and I'm really looking forward to watching it.

Forgot to say, Will and Kate's convo today (friday) was very touching. I'm really enjoying this new young actor.

James and Ali should get Emmy's for their acting this past week- just fabulous!!

Posted by LitLover at Friday, June 12 2009 10:41 PM

James Scott is awesome, but he went way over the top with his snorting and shaking when Sami told EJ the truth. It was really laughable and ruined the scene for me.
