Who was the first person to play Chelsea? I only remeber Rachel Melvin playing the part. In the 43 years Days has been on the air I have never heard it mentioned that Salem was Salem Massachusetts. All I ever have seen is Salem USA.

I still want Dansea because first of all I loved their story, minus Kate of course, and second like angelatil already said Daniel was different with Chelsea. He wanted to be a better man for her, he stayed in town for her. That has to count for something. I admit that he has no one but himself to blame for this mess he is in right now and I think he realizes that he can't give Kate what she wants but he doesn't know how to get out of it. I'm definitely not happy that now they have him getting involved with Chloe. Daniel isn't very liked by many to begin with so I know that this kind of writing isn't helping. If the show wants to end this Daniel and Kate thing they should have found another way but unfortunately they didn't. I also agree with angelatil that he seems to be reverting back to his old ways for now and I guess part of the old Daniel was jumping from one woman to the other. I really hope that he wakes up soon and starts to deal with his issues and I want to witness him work through his issues. SC is a wonderful actor and I would be very sad he he would leave the show. So all in all I still love Daniel even if he is damaged. Or maybe I should say I love him because he is damaged. Makes him that more intersting to me.

I am one of those Dansea fans! There are a number of things that I like about Daniel. First of all, he is different than any male character on Days currently or for awhile now. I remember when Michael Weiss played Mike Horton. He decided to become a doctor and was like this big kid, which I enjoyed. I think there is some of that in Daniel. I think that Daniel is one of the most realistic characters on the show. He is a man's man with some huge, yet real flaws. He is a womanizer and always has been, with the exception of his wife. He was being cured of his womanizing ways by Chelsea. He knew that Chelsea was the woman who got under his skin. He still was too afraid to be completely honest though. I really enjoyed his dynamic with Chelsea. I would say that I am currently tolerating Daniel and his ways through in hopes that the ewwww factor fades and he and Chelsea can find their way back to one another. I just really think that Shawn and Rachel work the best together.

In very brief, to-the-point terms, they need to put Daniel and Chelsea back together and stop tampering with these characters and this story line. As far comparing Daniel to a painting, I agree with the anaology but not the way Days is going about this now. There was, and still is, so much that could be done from that perspective just delving into what Chelsea has said to Daniel, what Daniel has said to Chelsea, how they have interacted together, how Chelsea's love has affected Daniel, how Daniel's doubts about deserving Chelsea's love have affected him, how the death of his wife has a vice-like grip on Daniel making him feel he will never truly be loved, - you could go on and on. Bringing kate (and, however briefly, chloe) into this was so wrong and so not necessary. It was like pouring a drop of sour milk into a perfectly brewed cup of coffee. Daniel running from Chelsea isn't really a surprise when you think about it. Admitting you love someone - truly love someone - and letting that person truly love you is the biggest risk anyone will ever take. Daniel has come close to admitting that when he said he hasn't had the feelings he has for Chelsea since Rebecca and all of his old fears are surfacing in spades. He needs Chelsea and she needs him. This couple has put the love back in a love story and, like a flower blooming, Days needs to reunite this couple and let the love unfold.

I am still just a Dansea fan because the story in the beginning was so well written. I think that Daniel is still just hurting over Chelsea so he is just acting on his hurt. I really believe that he is in love with Chelsea and that this couple will have a strong comeback and will even be a better storyline because of all that they have been through.
Daniel wanted to experience the lost art of courtship with Chelsea and he let her know that on their first date that she was his first date. I think this story needs to be told and there are still many fans waiting to see it told!

Hi Chrissy. As usual, I agree with most of your comments, especially the ones about Melanie. I think the writers need to do something to make this character more sympathetic, at least to the viewers. Mostly, all we see is her getting abused by the judgmental people of Salem, and her giving as good as she gets. But it makes no sense because we do not have a clue as to what's really going on inside that red head.

"She needs guidance, therapy and a friend who won’t take any of her crap. She has had no mother (I kind of wish it was Nicole) and her father was a piece of trash."

You are exactly right here, and this is just another example of how the writers do not use Marlena's character to full potential. Sometimes I think the powers that be do not like the fact that the viewers are so attached to Diedre, so they deliberately keep her uninvolved in any story line except the ones where she is pining after John.

In answer to your question, I watch the show mostly because of the vets. It has always been the Marlena show for me. LOL
It was harder for me to get attached to John and Roman. When they first brought Roman on the show, I did not think Wayne Northrup was good-looking enough for Marlena. Then, when they brought gorgeous John on and made him Roman, I was tickled pink! But, alas...they then brought Chris Kosachek back and made HIM Roman. Now, is he had been Roman to start with, I might have formed different opinions.

NuJohn, however, is someone I have grown very fond of. He is way cool, but I want to see at least some semblance of Old John come back just because Marlena loves him so very much, and if she's leaving the show she deserves to go out with the love of her life.

I think they were going to make Nick a stalker in the beginning, when he was writing anonymous notes to Chelsea over the internet. For some reason, they changed directions and made him Chelsea's redeemer instead.

He kind of grew on us the same way he did on Chelsea and we all got to know and love our goofy absent-minded professor type Nick and the lessons he and Chelsea were learning together as they grew up.

Now, they are writing him out of the show as a creepy, wacked-out killer. Although the actor did a good job playing the part, I still hate the story line.

Chelsea is another example of how they are not using Marlena's character to her full potential. It would have been great to see Marlena become Ava's therapist...and help her change her life around. But, they wrote her as sleeping with John instead! I hated that, and this kind of thing is why the show is failing...it's the writers that should be getting fired. Not the vets.

I've said it before. This show used to be about good people who make mistakes and learn life's lessons. There were morals and principles and family values. Enduring love in the face of hardship, and long-lasting friendships among people who were not so judgmental. Strong family values.

Now, it seems to be about the men of Salem passing around the women of Salem like the only bottle of whiskey in a bar full of men. And, the women of Salem slamming each other around and punching each other out. Where are the friendships? Not every relationship has to be about sex.

When one of the characters who is in love with one person, but physically attracted to another (which is common and natural), finally stands up and says, "Look, I realize that there is a physical attraction here, but I am not in love with you. I am in love with so and so. I have seen too many relationships get ruined and families split apart because of situations like this. I will not throw away my chance at happiness, nor will I hurt that person by having a romp in the hay with you. So, buzz off!" That is when we will know that the show is starting to turn around, and the people of Salem will get back to what they used to be.

Daniel is a sleazy doctor with a God complex or something. Seems like he needs to sleep with every woman he comes in contact with, no matter what age. Creepy. Hope Chelsea moves on and forgets about him. Better yet, hope she slaps him at some point, because I just know he is going to hurt her grandmother too. Hope Chloe is a good enough person to resist his sick charms and puts him in his place...

Did I miss something??? Salem is in Massachusetts??? when did this happen or are you speculating??? I don't recall ever (in my 25+ yers of watching Days) ever KNOW that is takes place in Mass. Especially when Chicago is just a hour away ! It has always remained a fictional town, somewhere in the US. It has an international airport, docks for sea bound tankers, teaching hospital, university, has mountains (not far from Green Mtn Lodge ??), has lakes (i.e. Horton cabin) etc....

Definitely Nicole with Sami's baby, which she just so happens to get from the orphanage next to where Sami is staying
