After being shut out for the last couple of years, Days of our Lives came back swinging this year by nabbing four Daytime Emmy acting nominations. Darin Brooks (Max), who is nominated in the Outstanding Younger Actor Category, talked to Soaps.com at the Days of Our Lives Celebrity Basketball Game last week and shared his thoughts on the honor.

“I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty nonchalant about it. A little too nonchalant about it. I was like, ‘Okay, cool, cool.’ And people were like, “Oh my God!’” Since the nominations where announced on “The View”, which films on the East Coast, and Brooks lives in L.A., he recalled, “I think I was sleeping at the time and a friend of mine called me from New York. But it was good.”

It’s not exactly the most enthusiastic reaction to receiving an Emmy nomination ever, but at least he was honest. As for what scenes he put up for consideration, Darin showed his range by presenting the voters with, “A little romance and a little fire.” He submitted the scene where Max and Stephanie (played by Shelley Hennig) are cleaning up at the Cheatin’ Heart and share a romantic slow dance, and one where Max picks a fight with Ford Decker.
