Joe Penny Heads to Days

He's often referred to, but we've yet to see Ava's father on Days of Our Lives. Beginning May 2nd that will all change, as we've learned the role of Martino Vitali has been cast in the form of Joe Penny.

A familiar face to primetime TV, Penny has starred in such series as "Riptide," "Jake and the Fatman," and most recently, the Hallmark Channel's "Jane Doe" series, also starring Lea Thompson. The veteran actor has also made memorable guest starring appearances in a long list of television shows including, "CSI," "The Sopranos," "Walker Texas Ranger," "Touched by an Angel" and "T.J. Hooker."

As for the character of Martino, all we really know about him is that he conducts shady business, keeps a tight grip on his daughter and doesn't much like Steve. With such a seasoned actor taking over the role, it'll be interesting to see just what the real story is on the head of the Vitali family.

I used to watch him back in the days (Jake and the Fatman) loved the show. He is still a hottie hopes he sticks around on DAYS.

Oh I had such a crush on him when he was on Riptide!! I wanted them to show him more!! Now' he'gonna be on Days!!!

I remember him and Melissa Gilbert in a movie "Blood Vows: The Story of a Mafia Wife."
That was a good movie and shocking at the end. I think Joe Penny will be a great addition to this storyline In salem.

Through-out the years I have watched Joe Penny in so many different kinds of TV appearances and movies and loved him every minute. I had no idea he was going to appear on "Days" until I saw him playing a part with Ava and surprised. It's going to be interesting to see where it goes with Joe and Kate especially when they start bringing up their past doings? He will be such a big asset for Salem. I agree with jkbubbly917 as far as things starting to heat up in Salem and that it is about time. We fans need to see some exploding excitement happen and I believe that Joe Penny will bring that to us. Welcome aboard Mr. Joe Penny and you'll be a wonderful asset to Salem. Stay with us. Okay?
