Frank Parker (Grandpa Shawn) exiting DAYS

Frank Parker says goodbye in a final way (Soaps.com)
After a twenty-five year run, Frank Parker, who portrayed Grandpa Shawn Brady Sr. since 1985, will be exiting Days of Our Lives in a final way.

Frank Parker started out in television in the 1970's where he played 'Clifford' on "CHiPS". He played in The Young and the Restless in 1972 and went on to portray 'Paddy Kelly' in 1980 on General Hospital, had stints on prime time television shows since and ended up on Days in 1983.

Parker's departure will tie in with Patsy Pease's (Kimberly Brady Donovan) brief two day return Wednesday February 27 for Grandpa Shawn's funeral. She hasn't been seen in Salem on contract since 1996, but has made brief returns to Salem in 1998, 2002 and in 2003, so this should be a great reunion to counter a sad farewell to Salem's Patriarch.

Soaps.com wants to wish Frank Parker all the best in his future and we welcome Patsy back, even for a few short days!

okay, It's a Soap Opera, it's supposed to be Dramatic. If Shawn would have died in bed surrounded by the town of Salem then you wouldn't have been on the edge of your seat. I was half expecting him to wake up after the crash (having just passed out from the lack of O2) but unfortunatly that didn't happen.
And what was sharonschaller talking about with the firing of all those peop'le. If she was talking about the original actors then Sharon you need to know that they weren't fired, they just didn't renew their contracts due to other things happening in their careers.
Back to Frank, I will miss him too, Maybe they will have him do some spots (like they do with old Tom Horton footage) as Caroline tries to figure out how to deal with her feeling toward Victor and Bo's illness. Just a thought
Sorry so long

Sorry about the lack of knowledge on the belle, and shawn and everyone else being let go, I have been kind of out of the loop and had not read anything about anyone leaving until today. Maybe they will come to their senses and bring them back soon.

i for one was not upset to see him go. Did anyone else get tired of hearing his whiney voice. He acted like he was 90 years old, and had senile dementia.

I was a little sad to see that No memories were shown of Roman and Shawn at the funeral, but i know it is because this actor played chris cosecheck years ago...My mother has been wathcing since the begining and i have been watching for the past 20 years. Do the writers think that we forget things so easily? Like Shawn douglas and belle are not supposed to be the same age...He was older than me when i started to watch, and belle was not even born yet....inconsistancies....just a thought!

Glad to know someone has been watching almost as long as I have. I too started watching it with my mom and 27 years later I am sill recording it. Yes, while it was sad to see Frank go when he came back it seemed he was quite frail so there were probably health issues related to why he was written out of the show.
