As far as I read and hear Drake was surprise that they were killing him off and every one on the show couldn't believe they were doing this. I haven't read or heard anything about him wanting out of his contract. would like to know how Teiralinda found this out, because no one else knew any thing about including the case members or the writers of soap opera digest to my knowledge. At one point I read were they ask Drake if he was leaving and his answer was no that he had no intentions of leaving the show. My conclusion is, that he is working on his contract.

I just can't stop crying! This is horrible!!!! The saddest thing on tv. Please bring him back!!! I have been a wreck all week and i am having to force myself to watch the show! We love John-DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS!!

I too find it hard to believe that John is dead.I wasn't a fan of his and Marlena's at first(because of Roman),but I soon grew to love the two.Marlena sparkles around John.I cried when they said goodbye to him in the hospital,and at the funeral.It brought back memories of my daughter's death and her memorial.It happened so fast I didn't get to say goodbye.I do hope John's death is just another strange happening in Salem. The show won't be the same without him.

Come on writers,you can do better then this. This has been one of the saddest weeks I've ever seen on Days. I've been watching the show over 40 yrs and this is not the way to let John go. He is too important to leave. We need more then one generation on this show.I heard their may be a twist to this story, I certainly hope so. Let's bring John Back. If someone has to go it should be EJ. We've have enough of the Sami and EJ vendetta story. Bring Colleen into the story and end this thing so we can move on. Oh and I waited for years for you to bring Frankie back and it was much to short, he should have stayed, I loved his character, and Max is so yummy, let's keep him. Also glad to see Jeremy gone.

I can't belive that this has happened, but then again I do. I think that since John was hospitalized for his coma this has been coming on for awhile. I don't know if he is really sick but he hasn't looked well for a very long time. Maybe this is just something to give him a break all I know is that he will be missed by many viewers. I just hope if he is really sick that he gets better. I've watched this show since it came on in 1965 and have hardly missed a show even when I was in the hospital back in 2005 and in CCU I made sure the channel was on NBC so I wouldn't miss anything and I was in CCU for almost 3 weeks. I just hope that they don't try to fix Marlena up with someone other than Roman if she has to have a man then let it be Roman Brady.

I just wanted to say that I'm going to miss John Black. He has always been a big part of Days of our lives and I feel like I've lost a good friend. Farwell John we will miss you.

My viewing group (15) has come to the following conclusions:
Why have John in a coma for months, have him lose a kidney, and to come back to his family only to have him killed off by hit-and-run? It would have been better to let him go when he was in the coma.

It's time for EJ to get caught and pay for all his misdeeds. No body has that kind of luck of walking around from one crime to another without paying the price.

The writers need to get a serious grip. The storylines have become WEAK AND TIRESOME and taking toooo long to come to conclusions.

Bringing back Kayla and Steve was great. Just give them a strong storyline like in the past. Kayla seems uncertain of her abilities and whines. Steve just flounders around waiting for Kayla to talk him into.... whatever.
Lets settle the Belle/Shawn/Philip triangle. It has become REALLY tiresome. Her doe-eyed looks make her seem pathetic instead of cute. Since she didn't go to college and never had a job, how does she survive? How much will she inheret from John's death? Philip could really do better. Let him get his son, go find Mimi and have his own family. Shawn needs to get a job or go the college. Love ain't enough.
Lets close the Brady/DiMera feud/vendatta. Fifty years is absolutely too long.
Give the Salem Police some BACKBONE. They keep running around looking like little boys not knowing what to do next. If that means clean house then start cleaning.
Send Kate home. She is just taking up space
Send the kids off to college or trade school. Time for them to take a rest from their dull storylines. They seem to repeat the same mistakes over and over. Most kids learn, these haven't.
We want to see strong, passionate powerful performance like Sami gives. No matter what her storyline, she make you believe.
The show has many good actors. Sometimes is seems as if they are just saying words with no conviction or heart. John"s death scene was a great exception. More acting like that and they will give Y&R a run for their money.

I really think that this whole thing is a coverup for the fact that John is still alive and well. I think the Salem police are making the Dimera's think he's dead. For some reason only known to the writers of the show.????? Who knows????
