Stale Air.

At Maggie’s place, Melanie stops kissing Philip. He asks how she really feels about him and moves in for another kiss but receives a slap for his efforts. She has had this attraction to him from the moment they’ve met but she admits she’s screwed up and so is he! He holds her and tells her that’s why they’re so good together but she can’t do this anymore and asks him to leave her alone. She leaves.

Melanie arrives at the hospital to ask Maxine if she can help with the bus accident. It’s all been taken care of. She goes to find Nathan, who is with Stephanie in the waiting room, helping her with her bandage. She has just given blood and complains of the heat. She gets up to adjust the thermostat and falls into Nathan’s lap, just as Melanie walks in! They explain that Stephanie’s light headed from giving blood and Melanie offers to do the same. Nathan leaves and Stephanie tells Melanie she sprained her ankle and Nathan wrapped it for her. Melanie eyes her and Stephanie asks if she’s still conflicted about the men in her life. Melanie has decided Nathan’s the only guy for her!

Arabian Horse.

At Maggie’s place, Mark tells Melanie she took his money and left him in the night, so Melanie offers to go to an ATM to get cash. Mark won’t let her out of his sight. Philip walks in on them and assumes Mark’s an old pal of Melanie’s. Mark threatens to hurt Philip if he doesn’t leave them alone so assuming Mark wants money, Philip throws his watch at him. It’s worth five grand. He introduces himself and once Mark hears his last name, he leaves quietly. Melanie thanks Philip. She owes him. Philip grins, knowing how she can pay him back! He wants to know how she conned the guy out of money. Melanie confesses she told him she could get him an Arabian horse for ten grand. Philip worries how many more marks are out there waiting to get even. Melanie gets a call from Nathan, who breaks their date. Philip calls Nathan noble and asks what the good doctor would think about these scams she pulled in Europe. He thinks things would work a lot better for her if she were just honest with herself. He moves in and they kiss, gently.

Up To Your Neck...

Melanie goes to Philip’s place and demands he stay out of her life. Philip thinks she could have said this over the phone and wonders why she came to see him. He’s certain she wants him in her life as much as he wants her but she denies it. "I’m with Nathan now." Philip smirks. "Sure you are…"

Melanie finds Nathan at the hospital and confesses Philip’s been leaving her intense messages. Nathan knows, explaining how he overheard Philip leaving one. Melanie admits she’s torn between both men. Nathan wants to look at the bright side. At least she wants to be honest! That might tip the scales in his favor. Melanie smiles. "You think?" They kiss as Stephanie watches from the door. Later, after Melanie has left, Stephanie thanks Nathan for the idea he had about the hospital and as she walks away, her heel catches and she almost falls – right into Nathan’s arms. Nathan takes her into an ER and wraps Stephanie’s ankle and she starts fantasizing that he’s kissing her. Nathan tries to remind her to ice her ankle until Stephanie blurts out how she thinks he’s making a big mistake.

Melanie’s at Maggie’s place when a skeevy man, Mark arrives. Melanie backs up and covers her body with her coat as she says she hasn’t seen him in over a year. She has a new life now and can’t do the things she used to. Mark doesn’t care. He came four thousand miles to see her.

Proof? What Proof?

Nathan gives Stephanie the flowers from the woman in the pub who he gave a tracheotomy to. Melanie rushes to the nurse's station and tells him she aced her mid-term and is first in her class and Nathan picks her up and engulfs her in a hug. Stephanie congratulates her and surprises Melanie, who knows things are a bit strained between them. Stephanie suggests they confront their issues. Melanie misinterprets what she’s saying and thinks she wants to wrestle her. Stephanie and Nathan start to laugh. Their issues are in the past and she’d like to work on their friendship! Stephanie suggests she take them to dinner to celebrate Nathan saving a life and Melanie acing her exams. Nathan can’t go but the girls head off, happily.

From Java, Philip makes a call to Melanie and leaves a message urging her to figure out what she wants.

Melanie and Stephanie wind up at Java and when Melanie sees Philip, she tries to steer Stephanie toward the pub, saying she’s really hungry. Philip spots them and asks why she’s running away from him. Philip asks why she hasn’t responded to his voice mail and she says she never leaves her phone on at the hospital. Melanie says she and Stephanie have got to leave for the pub so Philip invites himself along. Melanie yells, "No!" She and Stephanie have things to discuss in private. Philip thinks they’ll be talking about him but Melanie says that’s not going to happen and once Philip leaves, Melanie says that maybe they should just stay there for coffee! Stephanie wants to know what’s going on with Philip. She’s over him and it’s obvious that Melanie and Philip aren’t over each other. Melanie doesn’t want to hurt her feelings. Melanie’s phone rings and knowing it’s Philip, she refuses to get it. She admits to Stephanie that she likes both Philip and Nathan.

DiMera's Are Not Supposed to Forgive.

Melanie finds Brady in a terrible mood at Java. She too is not in a great mood but she wants to discuss it, knowing he’ll know what to do. She says she’s dating Nathan but still wants Philip. Brady laughs at the irony and thinks she should dump them both! Melanie thinks he’s just a little bit jaded. "You screwed up with Arianna again, didn’t you?" No, Arianna did and they’ve now broken up permanently. He doesn’t want to discuss it further but asks if she is in love with Philip. "Could be." Brady reminds her that the last time she had her go around with Philip, he broke her heart. "Don’t give him the chance to do it again."

Melanie looks for Brady at the mansion but finds Philip, who offers her something to drink. She accuses him of working on her but he’s not. He likes her and wants to be with her but she has made it clear she doesn’t want a relationship with him. He respects that and asks why she’s there, considering he knows she just left Brady a few minutes ago. He figures she’s there to see him.
