Outside the pub, Nick comforts Melanie, who says that her father never loved her. Chelsea watches from nearby, as Nick holds Melanie close. Trent comes by, just as Melanie admits she has nothing now. Nick tells her she has friends, and Trent says, "And family…" He wants to talk to her, privately. She agrees. Against his better judgment, Nick allows it and Trent apologizes for what Claude did to her. She tells him that Claude's in jail for attempted rape and his friend is in jail for attempted murder. She's sure Claude blames Trent! Trent goes on about the debt. He knows he's in trouble. Melanie is shocked that he only cares about the money, but Trent reminds her that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Melanie's nothing like him, she claims.
Outside the pub, nearby, Nicole tells Victor her past has finally caught up with her. "It usually does," he says. Nicole tells him that Victor was her third husband. She was married to Trent Robbins. He's not surprised, he admits and she tells him they're still legally married. Victor is quiet for a time and Nicole asks if he wants to know the story. He isn't interested, but she plows on anyway. She tells him that she used the name 'Misty Circle', which causes Victor to smirk. She explains that it was her porn name that her father forced her to take, and talks about her abuse at the hands of Trent. Victor listens, as she explains she left him and changed her name to her mother's maiden name, Walker. Victor starts to laugh. He finds her entertaining and her sad story won't let her keep his money. Nicole earned it, she says. He tells her to brace herself. She's going to be dirt poor again. Nicole's stomach lurches and she runs off to become physically sick.
Max interrupts Trent and Melanie's talk and Trent leaves, while they go back into the pub. Nicole goes to Victor's table. He asks if she's feeling better. "Like you care," she says. Victor wants his money back, even the money she spent! Nicole tells him that's not going to happen. Victor gets up to leave and tells her she'll be hearing from his lawyer. "Trent, you are so going to pay for this," she mutters, angrily.
Back inside the pub, Steve, Kayla and Stephanie discuss Trent. Steve wishes he'd have gone to Paris and asks why Stephanie didn't call him. Stephanie explains there was no time. She's worried about Max. Talk gets back to Melanie and Stephanie admits that she thinks Melanie is going to be trouble.
A miffed Chelsea enters the pub and Stephanie goes to her and asks what's wrong. Chelsea says, "Melanie's out there crying on Nick's shoulder. Could it be any more obvious?" Stephanie explains what just went down and Chelsea apologizes, but calls Melanie's tears pathetic. "You know you can admit that you're jealous," says Stephanie. Chelsea says she simply doesn't want to see Nick get hurt. She cares about Nick. They're friends and she doesn't think Melanie is right for him. Stephanie thinks she ought to let this go, unless she wants to get back together with him. Chelsea goes to Nick and asks if he's alright. "I will be, once I get Trent away from Melanie," he says, and leaves. Nearby, Bo asks both Max and Caroline to stay away from Trent, but Max can't make that promise. "I don't make promises I can't keep," he says.
Victor goes to Hope and Bo and is happy that Nicole came clean. He thinks it's nice to have some good news for a change and admits Kate was in the hospital. Chelsea is worried, but Victor explains that she has a cough. Chelsea wants to see her, and will head to the hospital tomorrow. Victor tells Bo that he won't press fraud charges against Nicole, but he will force her to pay back all of his money. He blames Trent for all of this. He's pleased that he got what's his but it doesn't forgive what Trent did to Nicole. Chelsea takes a seat and explains to Bo and Hope all about what happened in Paris and how he pimped Melanie out and how Nick got shot. Bo goes to make a call while Hope comforts Chelsea. She says it was awful when she saw Nick all bloodied. All she could think about was how she could lose him. Hope realizes Chelsea still cares about him. Chelsea shrugs. "We're friends." Hope asks, "You still love him, don't you?"
Nearby, Max introduces Melanie to Caroline. Nick explains the pub is a local landmark and Melanie says it has a lot of character. Caroline wants her to feel at home and calls her family. Melanie's thankful. Max asks Caroline to look after her and leaves to the kitchen. Stephanie watches and follows him there, but returns to her table, shortly thereafter and tells her parents he's gone. Meanwhile, Caroline brings Melanie up to her room to get settled.
Outside the pub, Victor calls his henchman. "Nico, there's something I want you to do! It concerns Trent Robbins!"
Nearby, Trent talks with someone on his cell phone as Nick watches, nearby. Nicole comes out of the pub and tells Trent he owes her. Trent snidely tells her that this is not her problem. She says it will be.
Trent calls Nicole and tells her to meet him at the pub, or he'll rat her out to Victor. He asks her to bring her checkbook. He makes another call, this time, puts $500 on a game. Max and Stephanie arrive back in Salem at the pub. They're thrilled to be home. Max thanks Stephanie for her help in finding Melanie. When Max notices Trent inside the pub, he bursts inside and says hello to his dad, then promptly punches him out! Stephanie calls Steve for help while Max yells at Trent for pimping out his daughter. When Pete arrives, Trent tells Pete that Max attacked him. "I didn't see anything," says Pete, innocently! Nick and Melanie arrive, and Trent is astounded to see his daughter, who is infuriated with him. He wants her to go home with him, but she refuses, and yells, "Why didn't you tell me I had a brother?" Trent says he had nothing to do with them and when Trent grabs Melanie, Max smashes a beer bottle and seizes Trent in one hand, while he uses the other to thrust the jagged edge of the beer bottle up to Trent's neck. Melanie encourages Max to kill Trent, while Stephanie yells, "No!" Steve, Kayla and Caroline rush out of the kitchen and yell at Max to let Trent go. Caroline yells that Pop would not approve of this. Eventually, Max lets Trent go, and Bo and Hope arrive. Bo takes Max aside and demands that he tell him what's going on, and asks Max to apologize, while Stephanie yells at Melanie for encouraging Max to kill Trent! Nearby, Nick lets Trent know how he won't be helping him in the future, and Trent threatens Nick not to spread any of this around about him, or he'll see that something happens to his prototype. He then goes to Melanie and asks if they can rise above this. He expects an apology, and in return, will apologize to her for pimping her out! Melanie refuses. "I would kill you with my bare hands if I could," she screams!
Outside the pub, Trent leaves a message for Melanie, telling her to stop ignoring his calls and get back to him! He flashes back to his request of her, and the ensuing argument. Just then, Nicole appears. He tells her he is waiting to meet with John Black. She makes a jibe to him about Marlena before leaving. Trent goes into the pub and says hello to Marlena who is sitting alone. He asks to join her. They get to discussing how she is divorcing John, and she tells him she doesn't need John's money, she just wants her freedom and a chance at a new life! She then asks Trent when he last spoke to his son. He says all parents have trouble with their children. When she won't discuss hers, he tells her not to cast stones at him then.
Outside the pub, John is watching Trent talk to Marlena when Nicole appears. She tells John that Trent destroys lives - he's almost as bad as Stefano. In fact, he's even more dangerous, because no one knows what he's capable of! John decides that he needs to be stopped then. With that, he walks into the pub, takes a hold of Trent, and sucker punches him! After Trent falls to the floor, John continues to kick him. "Get up!" Suddenly, John seems to have some sort of brain freeze. Marlena gasps. Trent crawls up off of the floor and says he's calling the police. John snaps to as well, and tells Marlena that he warned her not to associate with that man! She says he has no claim on her - she won't be his wife much longer. She tells John he has no idea how hard she tried to love him because she thought her husband was still deep within him, but she sees now she was wrong. He doesn't understand love - only ownership. She enrages him by saying he's just like Stefano, and that's why she's divorcing him. John pays for the damage to the pub. Trent says, "What about the damage to my face?" John leaves, and Marlena tells Trent that he isn't innocent in this. She informs him if he annoys her again, she'll rearrange his face! Trent says he could press charges, but Marlena warns him not to do that, and to leave John, her, and the Bradys alone! Outside, Nicole watches, cheering Marlena on. Suddenly, Nicole has to run away to be sick to her stomach! She thinks she ate bad clams. Trent stands in the pub grumbling, "You shouldn't have messed with me Marlena. Marlena leaves, wondering what is wrong with John.
Nicole meets up with Trent and he tells her he knows she made out like a bandit in her marriage to Victor. She asks how deep he is in. Trent admits that he owes $20,000! She is appalled. He tells her he'll pay her back with interest. She says the point is that he never quits gambling! Trent threatens to rat her out to Victor Kiriakis, but she points out that if he does, she'll have no money to give him. He throws up her past in her face and tells her that she's left him no choice. He approaches Victor and introduces himself, but Nicole stops him and drags him away. Outside they bicker about whether or not he was bluffing. She asks for a divorce in return for the money he needs. Just then, he takes a call from John Black. John tells him to stay where he is. "We have some issues to discuss."
Trent arrives at the pub and Nicole approaches him to tell him that Steve is investigating him. She complains that Hope gave Steve a file which indicates that they're still married! She doesn't want it to get out. He says he'll take care of it - in return for a loan. She tells him he's on his own. He mutters, "Don't be so sure, Mrs. Robbins!" She stalks away, and Bo, Hope and Steve watch him from their table. Steve notes, "He's been nosing around ever since Stephanie left for France."
At the pub, Trent runs into Marlena. He reintroduces himself and asks her to have a drink. She rebuffs him and turns to see John. He questions her about leaving the house early that morning on her own. He wants her to stay again, but she refuses to stay in a house with Stefano. As he presses her, she shouts, "No!" Trent looks on, amused. She walks over and sits down with him. "I'll have that Mimosa!" John heads over to the bar where Nicole is sitting. He asks who Trent is and she says he's a jerk. John decided he does not like him! Nicole natters in John's ear, but he just stares at Marlena. At the table, Trent notes that the man at the bar seems jealous. She admits that they're married, but it's not working. Trent asks, "Then why does he keep looking over here?"
Nicole and John sit down at a table, and she urges him not to play hard to get. "If you love her, go tell her." She says she knows what it's like to be in love with someone you can't have - and he has a shot with her! John feels he should just go over and break Trent's arm. Nicole notes that he can't do that, even though the man Marlena is with deserves to die. John is upset to hear that Trent has a dark side. Marlena watches John out of the corner of her eye as Trent continues to charm her and they exchange small talk. Trent asks her out for dinner the next night. She turns him down, telling him that she is not comfortable with the way he treated his son. She tells him she loves Max. He says he regrets it, and asks her to reconsider dinner. She says she is married. As he leaves, he gives her his digits. "If you change your mind, let me know."
