DEAN TRENT ROBBINS (LAYTON)'S HISTORY

Dean Robbins comes to Salem as a Physics University Professor. He meets with Nick Fallon, another professor at Salem U, about his prototype. He penned a book called "Cold Fusion" and had a book signing, where Max let him have it. Max didn't think the Dean's theories were true in his book. This piques the Dean's interest and he tries to talk with Max about it but Max looks to the Dean with disdain. Trent is an abuser. He was married to Nicole Walker and still is. This means Nicole's marriage to Victor is a sham! Trent also has a daughter, Melanie, who he has used in the past to get what he wants. Not well liked, no sooner does he come to town, but is murdered! Knifed in the back.... will update with the murderer once we know who it is!

Thursday, October 23 2008: A Fly in the Baby Ointment!

After Melanie has a vision of Trent, accusing her of murdering him, at the pub, she cuts her date short with Nick, leaving him confused. She rushes to her room upstairs and has another vision of Trent. He again accuses her of murder and tells her she can't hide from him. "Killing someone stays with you. You've got to pay the price, Melanie," he says and Melanie cries that she doesn't remember killing him. He calls her a bad seed and she runs out of her room, yelling, "No, Dad, get out of here. I didn't do it!" She runs straight into Philip's arms. He tells her that Stephanie snitched on her, and Melanie tells him to get out. He asks her to explain why she had Trent's wallet, and when she doesn't say, he threatens the police. She denies killing Trent and tells him to get out. Philip feels guilty for hurting her feelings and knows her father abused her. Melanie mocks him and sarcastically says that this is why she's such a horrible person and why she killed her father! She rants and raves and Philip feels terrible. He apologizes for accusing her unfairly, and turns to go, but Melanie stops him. He's the only one who knows the truth about the wallet. Philip says he has to tell the truth about it, but Melanie would rather he didn't talk. She asks to buy his silence and tries to seduce him.

Wednesday, October 08 2008: Internet Bimbo.

Melanie arrives at the cemetery and reminisces about meeting Trent the night of his murder. "Dad, why do I always have to fix your mistakes," she cries, sadly. Trent asks, "You do love me, don't you?" She does, so he asks her to bail him out of this trouble. She tells him this is wrong. He's supposed to protect her, but he points out that he gave her a cushy life. "Aren't you supposed to love me anyway," she asks and tells him she owes him nothing. She yells that his love is so conditional and that's why she is the way she is. He moves toward her and she pulls a knife [looks like the murder weapon] from her handbag and tells him to stay away. He asks her to put the knife down but she cries and refuses to. "I didn't turn you into an internet bimbo," he retorts, when she yells at him for calling her names. She asks if this will be the last time she ever has to prove her love for him again in this fashion, and he promises, but Melanie doesn't believe him. She comes out of her flashback with a worried expression. She starts to flashback again and Trent asks her to put the knife down and he'll withdraw his request. He asks her to go home with him but home is with Max, she says. Trent disrespects Max and his job choices and Melanie finds it disgusting. She felt sorry for Max, when they first met because his father gave him up, like a piece of trash, but she now thinks she's the one who should get the sympathy, for having to grow up with Trent as a father. She tries to leave and Trent grabs her arm and pulls her back. She shakes him off and tells him to let go, but they get into a scuffle. The knife falls to the ground and they both reach for it. Melanie comes out of her flashback and rakes a hand through her hair, nervously.
