Ava and Angelo arrive at the pub and watch Stephanie talking with Nick. Ava calls her pretty and Angelo says, "She's not as pretty as you, Twinkle Toes!" Ava wonders how Angelo knew she had a doctor's appointment today and he says she must have told him. Ava wants to know why he's keeping tabs on her. Angelo hems and haws but eventually admits that something is going down today and her father doesn't want her to get hurt.
Nicole storms into Abe's office, where Roman, Abe and Ava are discussing her case. Roman tries to kick Nicole out but she rants at him to help her stop Victor from trying to kick her out, daily. Roman escorts her out, claiming this isn't a police matter and he and Abe tell Ava she's free to go. Abe takes a call and finds out that Bo went ballistic on Martino at the pub. They all take off to the pub.
At the pub, Bo hits Martino, who is amused by Bo's anger. Bo grabs Martino and Max gets out a shotgun. Martino's goons return inside the pub and Bo cuffs Martino. Ava walks in and Bo tells her that her old man is going down and there's nothing she can do about it. She doesn't want to! Bo starts to arrest Martino but when Roman arrives, he tells Max to put the gun away and stops Bo in his tracks. Ava interrupts and tells her dad that she's angry that he let her out of jail. She no longer trusts him and thinks he paid Dr. Nusbaum to give her those drugs. Martino pleads innocence and tells her she knows better than that. "I don't," she says and Abe tells Bo they have no charges, so they must let Martino go. Bo yells that it's Vitali's fault that Pop's dead and threatens Martino that with or without the law behind him, he'll get his! Martino wants to talk to Ava, but she isn't interested. "Maybe I'm starting to see you for who you really are," she tells him. After Roman, Bo, Ava and Abe leave, Kate wants to know if Martino is truly heartbroken or if he's putting on a show. Martino claims to love Ava but Kate isn't so sure, after what Ava claimed. He tells Kate he did what he did to protect her. Kate snorts and tells him not to call her anymore. She leaves.
Bo, Abe and Roman arrive back at Salem PD and they discuss a way to prove these two unsolved murders that point to Vitali. Ava enters the room. She offers to help them find the truth if they help her find out what part her father played in her psychiatry care. Abe tells her that they'll be in contact and she tells him she'll be at the Salem Inn. Abe doesn't agree that she should stay there but she promises she isn't going to try to contact Steve or Kayla. She warns Abe to get Bo to be on guard, considering people who go against her father usually end up dead.
Later, Lexi releases Ava and gives Roman a copy of the forms. "Ava is officially yours," she says. Ava appears catatonic as Roman tells her he's taking her to the police station for booking.
At Salem PD, Abe tells Roman Ava's lawyer is causing issues for them. He doesn't want Ava to be cut loose on a technicality like her father has in the past. On the way to processing, Ava bumps into Bo, who sneers at her and tells her she must feel helpless. He yells that her new buddies in jail will make mincemeat of her and she deserves it for killing his father and putting a bullet in his wife. He continues to yell until Roman stops him. Ava apologizes and says she deserves to be punished for what she did. Roman's confused and says detox works miracles for her disposition! After Abe and Roman tell Bo that Dr. Nusbaum's drugs made Ava crazy, Bo thinks it's time he had a chat with Martino Vitali! Roman says they've got him under surveillance and tells Bo he's currently breakfasting with Kate at the pub. A cop enters Roman's office and tells the men that Dr. David Nusbaum's body was dragged from the river. Bo storms out of the room.
Back at Salem PD, Roman tells Abe that Ava's arraignment went fine, but she refused bail. When Abe tells Ava that Dr. Nusbaum was found dead, Ava's not surprised and assumes her father killed him.
Ava's guard wants Martino to leave, but Martino has a court order that says he's allowed to be there. Martino is upset that Ava is tied to the bed, but Kayla tells him it's necessary and she wants to know why Dr. Nusbaum was on Ava's case, considering the drugs he gave her made her unstable. Martino has no idea what she's getting at and promises that Dr. Nusbaum would never do anything to harm Ava. Kayla's positive that this is not true. The pills were given, knowing that Ava would lose her mind. Martino sits with Ava and comforts her as she comes down from the medication. He promises to find out why her doctor was giving her the wrong medication. Ava cries that all this time, there was nothing wrong with her. He tells her she can blame Patch for this - he does! Kayla asks him to leave and then tells Ava she'll feel better once the drugs are out of her system.
Lexi visits Ava and tells her according to her chart, things are looking much better. She asks her to rest, but Ava is curious about where her father and Steve are.
In Ava's room, Kayla, Lexi, Abe and Steve show up with the results of Ava's drugs. Detoxing, and more than a little out of sorts, Ava thinks this is an invasion of her privacy. Kayla's Ava's doctor now, she explains. Ava wants Dr. Nusbaum and her pills but Kayla refuses and tells her the pills are making her worse. Lexi says, "They cause anxiety, paranoia and mood swings. It's anti-seizure medication and in Ava's case, it's potentially dangerous." Ava doesn't believe this. Steve asks if she knows a reason why Dr. Nusbaum wouldn't want her to get better. Ava admits that something happened that she can't remember. She apologizes for letting Steve down and Lexi asks everyone to leave, so they can calm Ava down. Ava starts screaming.
Outside Ava's room, Kayla says in spite of everything, she wants Ava to recover. They'll talk to her later and perhaps her memory will improve. Steve thinks there is a lot that Ava wants to share. Abe is surprised that Kayla cares but Kayla's a doctor and she doesn't believe that Ava knew what she was taking. Steve agrees. Abe's not that forgiving! Kayla suggests that Abe check out Dr. Nusbaum. Steve and Abe leave and Lexi suggests to Kayla that she tell Steve "the news" about Ava, since he'll find out soon, anyway. Steve returns and Kayla tells Steve that Kayla tried to take her own life, after he left her at the altar. Steve is taken aback and Kayla admits she knew he'd blame himself so she kept it from him. Steve weeps and asks if he can see Ava - with Kayla.
Steve and Kayla go into Ava's room, where she is calmer, yet confused about where she is. Kayla tells her she's in a hospital. Ava is surprised that Kayla is helping her, considering everything that she did to Kayla and her family. Steve reminds her that the drugs were the cause.
Outside Ava's room, Kayla tells Abe and Lexi that Ava's resting. Lexi knows Ava's got a tough road ahead of her with the detox. Abe takes a call and tells Lexi that there was a body found behind the alley at the Cheatin' Heart. He leaves.
Steve goes back into Ava's room to find out how she is. Ava asks him to come close and when he does, she asks him to get her out of there. Steve refuses, even when she tells him he owes her. She starts yelling, "Get me out of here," and Kayla comes to his side and asks Ava to take it easy. Martino Vitali appears behind Steve and Kayla and introduces himself.
