Acquired Taste!

Daniel finds Chloe working out at the gym and helps her fix her form with using weights. Chloe is surprised. "Is there anything you don't know how to do?" He tells her, "Opera singing!" They discuss Kate and how Chloe thinks she's lucky to have him as her doctor, until Philip interrupts. "Maybe not!" Philip thinks that Daniel is abandoning Kate, who is having terrible side effects from the chemo. Daniel reminds him that they knew this would happen and says Dr. Knapp is taking over for him so he can have a break. Chloe takes Philip aside and tells him Daniel's doing the best he can and that he's an excellent doctor and if Kate trusts him, that should be worth something. She encourages him to apologize to Daniel, so he does. When Philip goes off to take a call, Chloe goes to Daniel and says he doesn't understand the randomness of life-threatening illnesses. He can't get used to this. Chloe asks, "You really love her, don't you?" Later, Chloe tells him she was out of line for asking and thanks him for being so nice to Philip. Daniel calls his relationship with Kate complicated. She calls her situation very domestic and different. "Life is good," she grins, but Daniel asks, "But not great?" Chloe says she's lucky to have both Lucas and Allie, but admits sometimes she misses traveling. She had an exciting life in Europe that was a little lonely, but always exciting! She misses singing, but Daniel thinks she could have the best of both worlds. He misses the ocean and surfing and says surfing is in his blood. "So you're saying we can have our cake and eat it too?" Daniel replies, "Damned right!" Lucas wouldn't want her to give up her dream. Chloe smiles. Nicole would say the same thing. They discuss how Nicole's in jail for Trent's murder but Chloe knows she's innocent. Nicole's kind and caring and important to her. Chloe admits she's not exactly Ms. Popularity, but Daniel says maybe she's an acquired taste and tells her that's a compliment. "So are you by any chance airing the taste," she asks. Daniel says, "Definitely." Chloe calls this good for her ego, but Kate wouldn't like it. Daniel says he'll try to talk to Kate about her. Chloe's thankful.

Two Tigers and a Ball of Twine.

Kate paints her fingernails as Daniel looks over her chart. She recalls the first time she painted them and how sophisticated she felt. Daniel says she has another half hour of Chemo. Kate's tired, so Daniel leaves her. Kate reads and a nurse interrupts.

Outside her room, Chloe and Lucas arrive and Lucas has questions for Daniel. He wonders what Kate's odds are at beating this. He knows that it depends on early detection and how the patient responds to treatment. Daniel agrees that's true but isn't sure about her odds. There are too many variables, he tells Lucas and Chloe, but admits the odds aren't good, but Kate has a lot to live for and is going through an aggressive treatment. "It's her best chance to survive," he says and invites Lucas to call him anytime to discuss it. Chloe supports Lucas and thinks Kate will get through this. They hug, and when the nurse leaves Kate's room, Lucas goes in alone, to see her.

In her room, Kate continues to read until Lucas arrives. She welcomes him to the penthouse and laughs. She says it's feeling like a mini-vacation, but Lucas thinks she's trying to prove how strong she is. He asks her to use her energy to fight. He returns to Chloe and asks if she'd talk to his mother about fighting cancer while he goes to the gift shop to get her a present. Chloe's skeptical that Kate will want to see her but agrees to it. She goes inside, but Kate tells her to get out! Chloe cares for Lucas and knows she means a lot to him. She was happy to come in here, she says. Kate apologizes for being so rude and admits she cares more about her kids than herself, probably. Since her illness will be the hardest on Lucas, she'd like to call a truce. She still hasn't forgiven her for breaking Philip's heart. Chloe says that's fine and once she leaves, she stands outside Kate's door, taking deep breaths. Daniel comes upon her. "Are you alright?" She confesses she's a cancer survivor and still takes anti-rejection drugs. She still feels she's on borrowed time. Lucas arrives and they're set to take Allie out trick-or-treating. They plan to take photos for Kate. Daniel asks if they'll return tomorrow and give Kate time to rest this evening. Chloe thanks Daniel for the talk and they leave.

Daniel goes to Kate with the magazine Lucas purchased for her and lies on her bed and visits.

Your Worst Nightmare...

Chloe arrives at the Java Café and interrupts Philip's work. When he appears distant, she says she'll leave him alone but asks if he's seen Lucas. Philip tells her that Kate has lung cancer and is getting chemotherapy. He feels bad that he was glad not to have to see her at her worse, but Chloe calls him human. She reminds him of her own cancer and says people do beat it. Philip's scared to death, he confesses.

Back at Java Café, Philip is glad Chloe's tight with Lucas because he's not good at being a brother in a time of need. Chloe isn't sure he's right and asks who he'll talk to. Stoically, he says he'll be fine. Chloe will be there for both he and Lucas. Philip calls Lucas lucky to have her and with some issue, Philip finally agrees to let her help him and they knock knuckles as friends. Just then, Melanie interrupts and asks who Philip is hitting on, now! "Wow, it took me less than two seconds to dislike you," says Chloe, grinning. Philip tells Chloe that Melanie's had a bad week and Chloe leaves. "Take care. Ditch her," she says as she walks out! Melanie tells him that he tried to get her into trouble, but she just walked out on Bo and Hope. She thinks the letter cleared her and that they're arresting the person who did it right now. Philip doubts it. "Letters from dead people aren't proof of anything." Melanie doesn't know why she wastes her time with him she says and leaves. Chloe returns and asks why he bothers with Melanie. He calls it a diversion. Chloe says Lucas called her before she even got to her car. They made plans later, to see each other. They discuss Kate and Chloe tells Philip she's going to look after him and the sooner he realizes that the better. She gives him a peck on the lips and leaves. Melanie arrives looking sad and apologizes about his mother. She overheard his conversation with Chloe. Philip tells her it's fine but she again apologizes.

Alone with a Vegan!

At the cabin, Johnny points to Sami's baby bump and says, "Baby." EJ wants to know what his son is talking about, and hounds Sami when she tells him she has no idea. EJ asks why she's acting shifty, and Sami says she has no idea when she'll be back from witness protection. Her kids could be in college by then! Chloe and Roman arrive and Chloe blurts out that she thinks Sami's milking it for all it's worth! Lucas points out that Sami's having a tough time with this and EJ says Sami still hasn't answered his question. Sami says Johnny's learning new words, and they remember how she and Eric had their own secret language as kids. "There's nothing like twins," she says and asks Lucas and EJ to let the kids see each other while she's gone. Sami says goodbye as EJ leaves something in her pocket, and she leaves. Roman introduces her to Darryl, her guard. He explains she is to have no contact with anyone from Salem. Once they leave, Lucas is heartbroken for the kid's sake, but Chloe is happy she's gone. She accuses Lucas of being sad that Sami's gone. Chloe rants and raves that she's happy that Sami's gone and feels vindicated, but Lucas asks her to stop and listen. He feels the same way she does. "Does that make you happy," he asks. Sami has driven him nuts his whole life. "I'm sick of it," he admits! Chloe calms down and say she feels paranoid where he and Sami are concerned. Lucas thinks Sami will be gone for a long time. He thinks that Sami's also using her pregnancy as another reason to go into the program. Chloe brings up bad memories from Lucas and Sami's past, but Lucas would prefer not to rehash their history. Chloe wonders how Sami has still not figured out how her schemes never work. Talk turns to Allie and Chloe admits she really loves that little girl. Lucas moves in and gives Chloe a lingering kiss.

A Fly in the Baby Ointment!

Nicole and Chloe go through a baby names book at the DiMera mansion, but Chloe appears distant, so Nicole asks what's up. Chloe is worried about her, so Nicole cheers her up by telling her that EJ told her that he wanted a future with her, complete with a house and more kids. She admits to feeling insecure still, but Chloe encourages her to feel secure. Nicole finds Chloe a good friend and is happy she has forgiven her for past mistakes. Nicole thanks Chloe for her loyalty and knows she'd always be honest to her. Chloe feels guilty and steps out to make a quick call to Lucas.

Nicole and Chloe toast to being best friends forever. Nicole asks her who she called, earlier, when she was upset. Chloe called Lucas to tell him where she was, and talk turns to Nicole's health. Nicole admits it's harder to deal with stress without the booze. The specter of Sami Brady hangs over her and she knows EJ is drawn to her. "She's like a fly in the baby ointment!" When Chloe doesn't laugh, Nicole asks what's up. Chloe almost tells her that Sami's pregnant, but Lucas interrupts and stops her! Nicole is upset by Lucas barging in. Lucas tells Nicole that things won't be the same as they are with EJ and Sami, when Nicole has her baby. Nicole yells that she knows this! Lucas says EJ and Sami have a passionate history and Nicole cuts him short and asks if he's trying to depress her and tell her that her baby won't be as loved as Johnny. Lucas doesn't answer, as he receives a call from Sami, who is sniffling, and tells him that somebody tried to kill her! Upset, Lucas repeats what Sami has said and tells them he has to go. Nicole and Chloe both lament that whoever tried to kill Sami didn't go through with it, and Lucas rushes to be with Sami.

John arrives back at the mansion just as Chloe and Nicole are commiserating about Sami and her shenanigans. Nicole wonders where EJ is and John tells her that he's with Samantha, at the cabin. Chloe leaves, and Nicole is floored that EJ lied to her. John calls EJ a hero. He saved Sami's life. Nicole wonders what hold Sami has on him. John's not sure, but he figures EJ will want her close by, more than ever!

Lucas and Chloe arrive at the cabin and find Sami is shaken up but fine. Roman tells Sami she is going into a witness protection program.

Hissing at the Wrong Jaguar!

Lucas gives Chloe a massage as she moans about how Sami drives her crazy. "She's pregnant again? When is that woman not pregnant," she asks and continues a long rant about Sami, until Lucas asks her to stop. "It's boring, okay? It's the same old thing." He wants to enjoy their evening. Chloe apologizes and they get romantic. After they make love, they bask in the afterglow, and Lucas tells Chloe how talented, smart and beautiful she is. Chloe's lucky she found him, and they start kissing. "You really are a keeper," he says, and Chloe asks him not to forget it!
