Kate approaches Chloe’s door and says, “Time for the last goodbye.” Nathan stops Kate and tells her she can’t go in there. As Lucas joins them, Nathan explains that he has to examine Chloe and take a few notes before she goes in. There’s a noise from Chloe’s room and Nathan runs to cover it up. Meanwhile, Melanie helps Daniel escape and tells him to meet her at the park.
Outside of Chloe’s room, Nathan suggests that Lucas wait a couple of more days before deciding about Chloe. Lucas says he made his decision and he wants to do this now! In Chloe’s room, Kate tells her it will be over soon and Daniel will not be able to save her, no one will! Kate says it’s time to say goodbye! Chloe’s heart monitor starts beeping and Lucas and Nathan storm in. Nathan says Chloe’s vitals are showing definite improvement and happily says, “Miracles happen!” Kate tries to hide her disappointment.
Outside Chloe’s room, Kate nervously wonders if Chloe will remember her visitors and what they said. Lucas asks Nathan about the paperwork and Nathan says it will be put on hold since Chloe is improving.
Daniel calls Nathan and asks if Lucas backed off. Nathan says legally he can’t do anything since Chloe is showing improvement. Daniel warns Nathan to keep Kate away from Chloe. Nathan says he’ll keep him posted and Daniel passes the phone to Melanie. Nathan thanks Melanie for her help and Melanie says they make a pretty good team. Daniel tells Chloe she can do this and to come back to him. As Daniel repeats this, Lucas enters Chloe’s room and Chloe opens her eyes and says “Daniel.” Lucas looks at her with disappointment.
For the Last Time!
At the hospital, Melanie distracts the guard as Nathan enters Chloe’s room with a drug and syringe. After he sets the drug down, he unlocks the bathroom door and leaves. Daniel enters from the bathroom door and tearfully touches Chloe’s face. He fills the syringe with the drug just as Kate and Lucas enter the hospital floor. Lucas hesitates and Kate says they need to let Chloe rest in peace. Lucas says he will do this himself and Kate sends him to talk to the nurse as she visits Chloe and says, “For the last time!”
Melanie and Nathan pace and wonder what's going on as Lucas walks in and asks for a favor. He tells them he will be in Chloe’s room with Kate, in case anyone with forms asks for him. Meanwhile, Daniel puts the drug in Chloe’s IV and says it will be a few minutes now. He tells her he loves her, just as Kate puts her hand on Chloe’s door handle!
Off to the Dominican!
Dr. Wesley returns to Salem to take care of his daughter, Chloe, and examines her but tells Lucas he isn’t sure what he can do. Lucas blames himself. They head into Chloe’s room and Lucas shows Craig her living will. He’s not sure it’s the right thing to do, to take her off life support and asks for Craig’s advice. As a doctor, he knows the chances of recovery for her are slim. He becomes emotional and Lucas gives him time with Chloe. Craig tells her how much he and her mother and sister love her and that she didn’t deserve this. He kisses her head and Lucas returns. Craig’s checking into the Salem Inn and says he and Nancy will stand behind Lucas’ decision, knowing this isn’t the life for his daughter. He leaves and Lucas knows what he has to do.
Hot Chocolate and Asparagus!
Kate visits Chloe in her room at the hospital and tells her there’s nobody left to help her, but she’ll be there from time to time to tell her about how Daniel will go to jail and get a lethal injection. Nathan walks in and asks what the hell Kate’s doing there. Kate claims she’s the mother-in-law and has every right to see her, but Nathan says she’s not allowed in there. He feels for her and wishes there was something they could do for Chloe. "There’s nothing we can do for her now," says Kate, surprising Nathan, who wonders if she wants Chloe to get better at all! She’s being realistic. They discuss Lucas and Nathan’s not sure he should be the one in charge of her treatment considering what’s going on with their relationship. Kate doesn’t think it’s any of his business and stalks off.
Roman tells Abe and Lexi that he and Bo think that the kidnapper has something against Hope. Both of the kidnappers have records and Lexi needs to know that the guy who took Ciara was a registered sex offender. Lexi is horrified. They’re interrupted by Bo and Hope with Ciara. Ciara goes to say hello to Theo while Lexi hugs Hope. Hope and Ciara go into an examination room while Bo and Roman worry about whether or not she was molested.
Lexi comes out of the examination room and tells the men that it doesn’t appear as though Ciara was molested. There are hugs all around. Hope and Bo visit Ciara and are happy to get her back. Lexi interrupts and the two leave them alone.
Out in the waiting room, Roman thinks they should take Dean’s statement now. He tells them when he found the shed, he was looking through the crack of the door and reached for his cell phone to call for backup. That’s when he saw the male perp putting a blanket over Ciara. He reached for his gun. That’s when Dean pounced. Dean watches as Hope pulls away from Bo’s arms. Later, they consider there’s a third person. Bo wants to ask Ciara a few questions for her own sake. Bo gets up too quickly and almost collapses but Hope grabs his arms. She asks Lexi to look after him, considering he was hit in the head, earlier. Lexi takes him away and Roman wheels Dean in. Roman goes off to make a call while Hope thanks Dean for saving Ciara’s life. She’s thankful the woman was a bad shot. Dean flashes back to shooting himself and agrees to get counseling that the department offers. Roman returns and says they’ve got nothing that ties the perps to Bo or Hope.
Lexi returns with Bo, who has a clean bill of health. Ciara falls asleep in his arms and calls to Hope in her sleep. Nearby, Dean flicks his Zippo lighter, complaining he’d kill for a cigarette. Ciara hears the lighter and remembers hearing the same sound at the shed.
Pay Back and Pay Day!
Lucas visits Chloe and tells her he was cleaning out their house and found a living will. Nathan comes into the room and Lucas shows it to him. Chloe doesn’t want to be resuscitated if the prognosis is eventual death or vegetative state. If it’s not registered with an attorney or hospital, they can’t honor it. That will mean the power resides with Lucas.
More Dirty Work!
In the hospital, the nurses attending to Chloe marvel that she is rallying - just when they thought they were going to lose her!
