John stops reading and Marlena says that she can tell Colleen speaks her mind. Doug and Julie wonder how far Colleen wanted things to go, and if she knew she could stop what is sure to come next.
John continues reading Santo's words, "Beyond all question you are the greatest pain in the neck I have ever known. The mystery of you, how you think, leaves me speechless! Do you argue because you don't trust what might happen when the argument stops?"
Flashback to Santo and Colleen. Santo gives Colleen wine and asks her to relax but she accuses him of trying to get her drunk to take liberties! She asks after Stefano and Santo says he's upstairs with Mrs. Fitzpatrick, who loves to take care of the boy. Colleen wonders if Santo chases women like this all the time and he disputes her words. He reminds her he is in mourning and becomes frustrated with her mistrust of him. In a rage, he jumps up and starts flinging papers around. "What do you want from me?" he asks. He rips open his shirt and says, "Take my heart! It beats only for you!" He continues his rant, upset that she is calling him a liar, but he tells her that he will never beg for love. He asks her to choose. "It's your life, your future." He opens the door for effect. "Stay or go. If you walk out the door it is your cowardice that drives you." He gives her a choice and Colleen starts to silently cry. She heads to the door and closes it! When she faces him, she grins slightly and goes to him. The two kiss passionately.
John stops reading and Bo says, Santo got what he wanted. Hope thinks Colleen got what she wanted, and Marlena looks at the letter, stating that there is more! She reads, "To this day I still can't be certain if it's divine intervention or bad luck, but neither of us counted on having a visitor."
We flashback to Colleen and Santo. Santo calls Coleen beautiful and although Colleen is afraid, Santo promises he will show her…. They move to the bed and Santo takes off Colleen's shoes, tosses her on the bed and they start making out! Just then, Sister Mary Anne bangs on the door and calls for Santo to let her in! Colleen gasps!
Flashing back, Santo tells Colleen he'll release her, but she's more concerned with his wound, saying it's Christian to tend to a man with a wound. Santo becomes edgy and tells her that any kindness she shows will only get her into trouble. She agrees, "It wouldn't be the first time!" Colleen spits on a cloth in order to wipe away the blood from Santo's face, but Santo starts to laugh and backs up. He teases her and asks if she's trying to poison him! She calls it an old remedy that has worked for her family, but Santo thinks that there is only one thing will cure his pain. Colleen takes the hint and kisses Santo's cheek delicately. This draws them into another fervent kiss.
Julie and Doug, Lucas and Sami, Bo and Hope and John and Marlena sit around at the Brady Pub listening to Julie read the latest letter from Santo to Colleen. Sami tells the group that Colleen and Santo couldn’t escape their fate. "Nobody can escape their fate." She says, and says that lust sealed Colleen's fate. "That lust was her undoing," She comments, as she looks to Lucas, and tells him she knows something about that! Doug reads on. Santo says, "From that kiss came a new life with you by my side!" Bo barks out a laugh and says, "That must have been some kiss."
Flashing back, Colleen and Santo's kiss grows urgent, and Colleen becomes afraid and breaks it off. She jumps up to go until Santo begs her to stay. "I could never be satisfied with another woman." He says. "I want you to be a woman Colleen. I want you to be my woman." He proves his feelings with another kiss! Colleen breaks it off laughing, and tells Santo that with his fancy language, he could be an actor. She asks him to be just a man, "My man." Santo smiles at the sound of those words and Colleen urges him to speak to her in Italian. Santo gets down on one knee and in Italian; he professes his love for her! The group at the pub laughs and Lucas says, "Did he just drop the L word?!" Suddenly their laughter turns to fear, when Tony rushes in the door! Bo grabs for his gun but Tony convinces them that he's not Andre by telling them the names of the island girls. He shares the happenings from the DiMera mansion and tells them that before Bart died by Andre's sword; he ate the key that could stop the DiMera/Brady feud! When Hope suggests they cut Bart open and get the key, Sami is disgusted, but Hope's idea appeals to Bo and he, Tony and John leave for the mansion.
Julie continues to read the letter. Colleen admits to Santo that her grandmother always told her to be careful about what she desired. Santo begs her to tell him what she wants, and she runs her hands over her hair and tries to compose herself. She walks away from him and Santo can tell she is taken by him, yet she continues to deny her feelings. Colleen tells him that he's asking her to break her vows and asks where that will lead her. Santo replies that it'll lead her to him, but says that all that binds them together is sin. Santo reminds her that love isn't sin, but Colleen retorts that they're asking for eternal damnation. Santo doesn't care. "Take my soul, do what you want with it," he replies, passionately. They agree to be friends only but Santo asks Colleen if they're going to go dancing. Suddenly, Colleen is called away from her brother Shawn, who lets her know she's needed at church. With a last smile, she runs off with the boy.

Julie says that is the end of the letter, and they all wonder why Colleen died. Lucas asks Sami why she and EJ aren't fated to be together, since they look identical to Colleen and Santo. Sami tells him that he's not funny, and asks him to stop it, but Lucas keeps it up and asks once again why they're not fated to be together. Sami finally yells at him to stop it. She doesn't see his teasing as a joke, so he apologizes and hugs her.
At the pub, Sami can barely believe that Bo and Hope suspect grandpa Shawn of killing Colleen. Julie and Doug arrive with Marlena and John and a new batch of freshly translated letters to go through. They sit down around a table and Julie begins to read.
Flashback. Colleen meets with Santo on the moonlit beach. Looking in his seductive eyes, she prays to God for strength. She stands and begins accusing him, a married man, of making indecent advances. Staring off, he tells her that his wife died three days ago. He wishes that he and Stefano could have gotten back to say goodbye in time. Turning to Colleen, he tells her that if he lost her, he could not live. She moves away from him. This isn't right, she says. He tells her that God would never ask a beautiful woman like her to sacrifice herself and her passion. She claims that she can live without passion. He asks her to kiss him one last time then, just to prove that she feels nothing for him. He pulls her into a kiss and then tells her that she has a decision she has to make: Back to the church, or stay in his arms. 'I felt nothing,' she says, walking away. He picks her wrap up from the beach and offers it to her. When she turns to him, she tells him to toss it to her. He claims the wind would steal it away and begins to tease her with it. She becomes angry, telling him that he is not as irresistible as he believes and asking him to do as he promises. He tells her that he doesn't chase women and he takes his vows seriously, but now he is free of them. She asks him again for her wrap, but falls into his arms when she reaches for it.
Flashback to Colleen and Santo taking Shawn and Stefano down to the beach. He's reluctant to let the boys run off on their own, but she insists that they be allowed. Seeing that she's cold, he gives her his coat. As she reminds him that they should have a chaperone, he sits down and begins preparing their lunch. She wants to know what he really wants, 'no more of this blarney' about a friend for his son. He promises her that he only wants her company; he has deep respect for a nun's devotion...but he's puzzled about why she chose that path when she is so beautiful. To hide such beauty is a sin. She moves away from him and protests that she has wanted to join the order ever since she was a wee lass. He tells her that she should know the world before she withdraws from it. She tells him that he's a man with no direction while she has a calling to follow. After agreeing not to call her calling into question again, he asks if he can see her in a beautiful dress. She imagines that he wants to pinch her, but he promises her that he just wants to look. 'It is a sinful request,' she says. They both know what he is really thinking and she won't let him shame her or her family. Once she calls Shawn back to her side, they run off together.
The following night, however, Colleen does come to meet Santo. She arrives in a dress with her hair down. They sit on the beach bathed in moonlight while she tells him that she believes that he is the devil sent to tempt her from the right path. 'I am not tempted,' she assures him. 'I wish I could say the same,' he says. He will never be free of her, no matter how far he goes from this place. Looking up at the sky, she asks him about the world beyond Ireland. He tells her about New York. She dreamed of going there, but she doesn't have the freedom of men. 'It is not to be imagined: it is to be seen. Let me show you,' he says, touching her face. She steps away for a moment before he leans in to slowly kiss her. As their kisses become more passionate, little Shawn appears.
