A little party is underway at DiMera mansion with EJ, Nicole and Ava. Rolf serves them and there's a pianist playing. EJ tells the ladies he'd prefer to have an All American barbeque with weenies and hamburgers. "I don't do…. Weenies," says Rolf, with distain. The power flickers and EJ assumes the city's power grid is overloaded, due to the heat wave. He takes a call and leaves the ladies alone. Nicole admits that her feelings for EJ are hopeless but Ava disagrees. Nicole shares that EJ has a chance with Sami now, because she admitted to having feelings for him. Nicole's not a quitter but she doesn't need the heartache. Ava goes off to find John. The lights flicker as John heads down the stairs to get the door. Marlena comes in and asks if he has come to his senses. John says they've been through this and Marlena apologizes for letting her anger get the better of her. She doesn't get how he refuses to get his 'self' back. John says the man she loves is dead and gone and she needs to accept that. Ava listens from the other room. Marlena doesn't think he has a way of knowing and wants her husband back. She asks for the disc, to keep it safe, in case he changes his mind, but he refuses.
EJ tells his client to enjoy their holiday. He assures them that their court order will be in right after the holiday and makes a quick call to Sami, leaving her a message that he was happy about their talk and hopes to see her later. Lucas listens in.
EJ returns to the great room from his call and apologizes for upsetting Nicole, but needs to be honest with her. Nicole wishes him luck, but doesn't think that Sami will leave Lucas. They bet on it and Nicole says Sami will never admit to loving EJ and will never dump Lucas for EJ. EJ's annoyed that she could be right but he tells her that Sami's resolve is already starting to crack. John returns and wonders where Ava is.
At the DiMera mansion, Marlena tells Rolf that he needs to tell them how to get John's memories back. She knows he did this to John. Rolf denies it and Lucas listens from the hallway. Rolf says they can't retrieve his memory but Marlena has done research and knows that it can be done. Lucas enters the room in awe. He wonders why John is so quiet. John's weighing his options. Marlena says she knows what's on it and it's a brain map of John's brain. They need Rolf's help. Marlena refuses to tell John who stole the disc. John thinks it's Philip and tells her he thought she was on his side. She reminds him this isn't a game and this disc can give them a future. Rolf denies knowing anything about computers and thinks Marlena wants the old John so badly, she'll believe anything. John doesn't want anyone to do anything with the disc until Marlena reveals her source. She refuses.
At the DiMera mansion, Marlena asks if John isn't dying to discover what happened to him. He's curious, but not that interested. Marlena wants John to force Rolf to access the data. John says even if Rolf could access it, he's not sure he would. Lucas takes the text from Chloe and freaks out, realizing he can't recall what Paul was wearing that night! Meanwhile, John worries he'll end up worse off than Marlena thinks he is now. He won't take the risk. Marlena understands his thoughts but when John wants to get rid of the disc, she won't. Again, he asks for her source, but she won't give it up and asks Rolf to access the information. Rolf won't and says it must have been a project that Stefano undertook without his knowledge.
John sneaks into the room just as Lucas hangs up. "What was that about?" Lucas says it's private and he's trying to make things right. The doorbell rings and John says they never get time together. John barks out for Rolf to get the door. Rolf enters the room with Marlena, who tells Rolf to stick around, as Lucas leaves. Marlena tells John that this concerns getting her husband back. Rolf and John are confused, until Marlena tells them it'll all become apparent when they see the disc. She holds it up and thinks it's the key to unlocking her past.
At Kiriakis mansion, Sami hides the brown paper bag that holds the device Lucas purchased to interfere with his ankle bracelet. Rolf brings Ava into the great room, fawning over her beauty. John asks Sami for privacy, and introduces Sami. Sami makes it a point to remind Ava that John's married. Ava calls Sami a little spitfire and John again requests privacy. Sami takes a photo of them with her cell phone and tells him she can email it to her mother. "I'm sure she'll be happy to know how you're pining away for her," she says and slams the door on her way out. She takes a call from Roman, who wants to talk with Lucas. She covers for him. He's changing the babies. When Roman says he'll drop by, Sami panics!
Bo and Hope are taken into the great room, at DiMera mansion by Rolf. John isn't happy to see them and they tell him they're there with a search warrant. John sarcastically wonders if they think they're going to find, "A kilo of cocaine?" They start searching and Rolf shows Bo the master suite, while Hope ransacks John's desk. "Alone at last," says John. She looks at one of Stefano's old photo albums and smirks that it seems like they're just another happy family. John tells Hope that he is curious about the time they had spine shattering sex on a submarine! Hope's jaw drops! She'd rather not discuss it, but John's curious as to why they cheated on their spouses. Hope tells him they both always loved their spouses, even when they were sexual. It's a long story and refuses to relive it. John threatens to ask Bo, but Hope stops him. She tells him the whole story as he smokes a cigar. She says Stefano manipulated them into thinking they were other people who were lovers. She asks if he's satisfied but he thinks she glossed over the good parts! John asked if they had fun on the submarine, and Hope flashes back to it but lies. "I don't remember." John thinks it was hot, but Hope can't help think of how Marlena would feel if she heard this discussion. John agrees never to mention it again. When she believes him, he admits his surprise. Hope knows he's not the old John but thinks with the new John, what you see is what you get. She's getting used to him. When Bo and Rolf return, Bo tells Hope he found nothing. John tells them to talk to Philip, if he wants to crack the case, since he set John up. He also has proof, and says Phil has been meeting with Paul Hollingsworth. Bo remembers that Paul was on John's payroll, but John denies it. Bo thinks John wonders if Paul was on both their payrolls!
At the mansion, Sami comments that Allie remembered Lucas. Lucas is happy someone did and wants to know how long she has been sleeping with EJ. Sami says this is the first time. Lucas doesn't believe her and wonders, "Why EJ?" Sami reminds him he refused to communicate with her. She was heartbroken when she read the email. Lucas doesn't blame her for moving on but not with EJ. He's the reason their lives are upside down, he yells. Sami defends EJ and says Lucas needs to now take responsibility. Lucas says he is and didn't think it was fair of him to ask her to wait for him forever. She would have, she claims but Lucas didn't feel he had a choice. Sami apologizes and EJ arrives and concurs. This was the first time it happened. Sami asks EJ to leave and Lucas tells her she slept with the devil and he'll never believe her again. John arrives and gruffly asks, "Who are you and why are you addressing her with such disrespect?" Lucas reminds him who he is and John says, "Oh yes, another convict." Lucas realizes John doesn’t remember him. Sami asks John to stay out of it but just then, Marlena arrives and is happily surprised to see Lucas. She hugs him and he shows her his monitor and John makes a joke about it, after remembering he was fitted for one. John knew that Lucas was coming and says it was a surprise to delight the two of them but he's not sure he did the right thing because of EJ. Marlena tells Lucas he doesn't need to worry about EJ. John mentions that the convict was berating Sami when he arrived. Lucas spills that he caught Sami in bed with EJ, much to Marlena's shock. "Tell me that isn't true," she says. Sami says it was the first time. Marlena can vouch that there's nothing going on between Sami and EJ! John grins at this and Marlena tells Lucas that Sami missed him terribly. Lucas needs to be filled in on why they're still married. He calls her a liar and a cheater but John tells him that nobody speaks that way to his step-daughter. Lucas asks how John would feel if he found Marlena in bed with another man. He pauses. Perhaps he'd be mad. Marlena knows Lucas is shocked but doesn't like his choice of words. Sami explains that EJ has been there for her, helping her with the twins, day and night and has turned his life around. She was lonely, vulnerable and upset about reading the email. John questions the email and Sami explains how Lucas told her to move on. Arguing ensues and Sami calls EJ a better husband to her lately and Lucas is insulted. She says that EJ has changed. He has betrayed Stefano for her and disassociated himself with the DiMera family. Sami asks John for his objective opinion. John sides partially with Lucas for Sami's cheating, "The other part," he says while lighting a cigar, "Is relieved that Elvis finally did you, because the sexual tension was getting unbearable around here!" Sami yells to God and Marlena's shocked. John calls her family even more screwed up than he is! Lucas and Sami yell at each other and name calling ensues until Marlena asks them to take time to regroup. Lucas yells that he's out of there and runs out the front door. When his anklet beeps like mad, he returns to the house!
Lucas arrives at the DiMera mansion, which he calls his new jail cell, with a police officer. He knocks and they discuss how Lucas will get to be with his kids and Sami. He hopes someone can keep that snake EJ away from her. Rolf lets Lucas in and Lucas comments on why Rolf's not in jail. Rolf says Mr. Black decided not to press charges. Lucas tells a shocked Rolf he now lives there! He shows him his ankle bracelet.
Lucas rushes down the stairs and tells the police that he's leaving with his daughter. The cop says he's can't. Sami and EJ come in behind him and Lucas yells that they're not married and she can do what she wants. Sami cries out that she doesn't know why he is there. The cop explains Lucas is under house arrest. He's surprised Mickey didn't tell them. Sami asks for private time with Lucas, and EJ waits outside as Lucas says she made her choice. Sami cries that she would never have done it if she had known he was returning. She missed him and was lonely. Lucas doesn't buy it, but she reminds him he sent her an email telling her to move on with her life. Lucas yells that he didn't mean for her to move on with EJ. Lucas asks to see Allie so Sami runs off to get her. She returns with Allie and Lucas holds her. "You have any idea of how much I missed you? You got so big!" Lucas says while Sami grins, nearby.
Upstairs, EJ takes a glance at Sami's unmade bed as he twists his wedding band.
Rolf takes Allie up to bed and Lucas tells Sami they're finished. Sami tells him she'll never let him go.
Sami busts through the DiMera mansion door ranting about Nicole and EJ kissing in the sauna. Rolf quiets her down since the babies are sleeping. He asks why she's so agitated and she tells him it's because she's stuck with this arrogant, pompous man. She thinks it's lucky that they don't have to stay married for life. Rolf is confused because earlier she said EJ had changed. She thought wrong, she says and Rolf scoffs. He wonders if she feels a thumping of her heart for EJ. "No," She yells and claims she has no feelings for him. Rolf's brain is scrambled and he says this is why he hasn't had much use for emotions! He tells her fear is the only emotion one must listen to. Sami sarcastically tells him she'll take his advice, but Rolf tells her if she truly loves someone, she should cultivate that feeling. Sami cries that she wants to see Lucas, but he wants her to move on. Rolf confesses EJ was on the phone with Warden Pruitt from the prison. "It seems you might be seeing Lucas sooner than you think," he says. Sami doesn’t understand why EJ would want to help Lucas get out of prison and thanks Rolf for the help. He agrees to spy for her - if she'll owe him one in the future!
