I will despise you until the day I die, Stefano DiMera!

Inside the pub, Maggie tells Belle Marlena will call when she needs them. Tony blames himself for not being able to do anything for John but Anna reminds him it wasn't his fault he missed out on the last 20 years. He takes Anna's hand and goes to Lexi and introduces Anna to her. Tony says they're bonded because they despise Stefano as a father, and invites Lexi to dinner. She happily accepts.

Stephanie gets Kayla something to eat and gives Steve a paper with her new number at the sorority house and school schedule.

In a booth, Bo, Abe and Roman figure out that there is a serial number on the glass. They read, "27RL4. It doesn’t give us much."

Shawn Sr. makes a toast. Everyone raises their glasses. "To my boy Johnny, a Brady if there ever was one."

We see Stefano at the church. He leaves a pawn from a chess set, by Claire's painting and we see flashbacks of Stefano is having someone tattoo John's back with the phoenix, branding him as a pawn. We see John finding his name on a sign, John and Marlena rafting and then kissing ashore. We see John giving Marlena that beautiful charm bracelet and Shawn says, "To our friend, our son, our brother" Hope, Sami, Doug and Julie all reminisces about when John woke up from his coma and Shawn finishes, "Beloved, John Black."

John Black, your death will count for something!

Stefano is in his hospital room reading the news about John Black's death when Tony walks in with a bottle of wine that he was saving for a dinner with John and Marlena. He thinks Stefano may want it to toast to his brother's death. Stefano asks him to go away. He doesn’t have time for his accusations but Tony tells him John's his problem. "You think you finished something last night, that you had the last word?" He goes on to tell him that once the tears have all dried, the Bradys will come after him with all they've got. Stefano says it warms his heart to know he cares but Tony chuckles and says as far as he's concerned, Stefano's already dead. That Tony keeps calling John his brother angers Stefano and he thinks Tony and Lexi will make good friends, considering they both have insulted the family. Anna comes to collect Tony and tells Stefano he deserves all he gets.


Later on, Stefano angrily calls for a limo.

If Andre's dead, who hit John Black?

At the hospital, a doctor apologizes to Stefano for the loss of Andre and then when Andre and Anna enter the room, the doctor is flabbergasted by Tony's looks. Tony explains that he and Andre being identical is along story and Anna tells him that the two are polar opposites. The doctor leaves and when Tony asks where Andre is, Stefano accuses Shawn Sr. of murdering Andre. Tony and Anna are shocked but Tony grins and says he wishes he could say he was upset! Stefano takes offense to this, but Tony reminds him of all Andre took from him these past 20 years. Stefano agrees that Andre wronged Tony, but Tony is aghast and says Andre not only wronged him, he stole his life! Tony is surprised when Stefano asks him to head up the DiMera dynasty. Stefano says, "I'm heading to Tuscany for business and while I'm gone…." Tony interrupts and jokes, "You want me to kidnap Marlena and reprogram Steve's brain?" Tony tells Stefano that he's not doing his bidding and that the cycle and mayhem dies with Stefano! Stefano replies sadly, that Tony always disappoints him. Tony argues that something good can come from this vendetta, like a book deal or a movie of the week. Anna asks the two to stop arguing and thinks they should leave. Tony walks out on them and Anna follows, asking what the use of being cruel is. Tony says he can't be cruel enough, and reminds her of Stefano's dastardly deeds, but Anna says things worked out right in the end. She feels for Stefano, but Tony thinks Stefano's having a good chuckle over this. Anna worries that Tony's sounding like a DiMera.

Anna and Tony run to Marlena's side to find out what's happening, when John is rushed into the ER.

Dr Miles Berman tells Belle and Marlena that John has some internal hemorrhaging. A fearful Belle hugs Marlena, who asks her to be strong. Marlena asks Tony and Anna to pray with them but Tony doesn't think a prayer from a DiMera is what his brother needs right now. Marlena and Belle pray alone while Lucas goes off to pick up Shawn. He encourages Sami to think positive thoughts, kisses her and heads out. Sami reminds Marlena and Belle that when John was in a coma, they never stopped believing in him. Marlena says she's right and says, "He can't leave us. Not like this."

Tony tells Anna sadly that though he and John are brothers, sharing the same father, they don't even really know one another. "Probably never will…" he says as Anna holds him.

Tony tells Marlena that he and Anna will leave the family and go to the scene to see if they can find out anything about the driver.

Sami blames herself for John's hit and run and apologizes to Belle. Belle stops her and reminds her she doesn't have anything to do with this. Sami goes to ask for an odd request - transparent tape!

Dr. Berman comes out of surgery and they wait for word on John, while EJ walks up behind them quietly.

Pandemonium in Salem!

Kate and Lucas arrive at the cemetery and tell Bo and Abe that Roman's in danger. She explains what happened and then Bo takes a call. He hears Roman say, "I'm taking Andre down tonight. Don't move until you hear from me." A concerned Bo relays Roman's words to the others, while Andre shuts off a tape recorder and kicks Roman's half nude body.

Tony stands outside looking though the lot of cell phones for Roman's. "This one's for keeps," he says as he dials.

Action at The Brady Pub

At the funeral home, Anna is frightened that Andre will try to kill Roman, after hearing the eerie note he sent to Roman. Bo tells her they've evidence of a prior threat if he tries anything. Tony reminds them all that when it comes to the DiMeras evidence has a way of getting itself lost. Roman paces and says he thinks something isn't right.

Bo explains that Stefano's hooked up to an IV in the bottom of the casket and will be transferred to a clinic outside of town. Benjy arrives at the funeral home in a wheelchair. He goes to pay his respects to Stefano. He signs "He's really dead?" Lexi nods and he starts to cry.

Lucas is confused by this display but Tony explains that Stefano's love is elusive and Benjy had hoped he would obtain Stefano's love, even though it was not possible. Tony kind of hints around thoughts that EJ is visiting Sami .

Benjy tells Lexi he came there for revenge, not to grieve! "I hate the old man," Benjy signs.

When Roman agrees to be bait for Andre, Anna is turned on his bravery. She tells Hope she'd like to do something nice for Roman, like make him dinner. Hope says, "So now you have standards?" She thinks dinner for Roman's a bad idea.

A terrible beauty is born!

Back inside the pub, Bo asks Shawn to make him a strong martini for Kate. Kate gulps it down as Roman tries to comfort her. She asks why he bothers with her and he's about to tell her when Anna and Tony walk in. Bo takes Tony away to talk about the funeral and Roman explains to Anna that Kate's staying in his guest room. Anna makes cracks about how loving Roman is to play the hero to the weak and defenseless. Kate rolls her eyes. When Roman takes off, Anna runs after him. Tony takes her place and remembers that the last time he saw Kate was in New Orleans. He says she was stunning then and still is.
