The Code.

Stefano opens the door to Anna, who slaps him hard across the face. Stefano is stunned but offers to let her in. She blames him for Tony's death, saying he tortured Tony. Stefano tells Anna what happened, but Anna says, "You dismissed him, knowing he’d do anything to win back your approval." She cries and tells him she came to look him in the eye one more time and tell him how much she hates him. Anna will make arrangements alone and says he’s got nothing more to do with Tony, in life or death, ever again! Anna says she’s glad Stefano didn’t get a chance to say goodbye. That brings her peace, which he’ll never have. She leaves.

I'm Shaking in my Boots!

Anna and John discuss his impending divorce, inside the pub. John seems very distracted, but says he knew this already. Anna encourages him to try to hold on to his marriage. John starts seeing double and has a hard time hearing Anna. He seems to have a seizure, and Anna asks if he's okay. He says he's fine and Anna says Marlena brings out the best in him. She'd like to see John better, she says. As she talks, John sees double again and passes out on the floor. Anna yells for someone to call 911.

Anna brings John to the hospital. He has had a seizure and convulsions, she explains as Kayla examines him. He's not an easy patient. Anna gives a call to Marlena and asks her to come to the trauma center. Marlena rushes over and Anna explains what happened. He's currently getting a brain scan. Marlena runs to John, and meanwhile, Kayla looks at John's x-rays and says, "Oh my God!" She wonders how this is possible.

Back in the trauma center, John pulls his coat on, and is ready to go. He says if he's not dying, he should go. Kayla isn't sure if he is dying or not but needs more tests. John refuses her. Someone calls and he rushes off, leaving Anna and Kayla worried about how Marlena has already suffered enough. Kayla says John could be headed for disaster.

What happened to the Cat in the Hat?

Inside the pub, Lexi and Hope have tea and discuss how happy Lexi is to have quit her job as Chief of Staff. She can now attend therapy sessions with Theo. Talk turns to Abe and Hope thinks what he did was noble, standing up to the Mayor. Hope thinks Abe can get more money working head of security somewhere. She wishes Abe could have stayed and helped her put Stefano away. Lexi says Abe is still planning on doing that but not with the police behind him.

Nearby, Anna joins Marlena for breakfast. She asks Pete for a coffee, intravenously! They catch up and Marlena admits she hasn't seen John lately. Marlena admits John has had some strange behavior lately - even more than usual. Anna has noticed this, especially in the past few weeks. Marlena thinks he's heading off the deep end and finds John erratic. He's been having terrible headaches. Anna thinks it's no wonder, considering, but Marlena worries about his anger. She tells Anna how he hit Trent and says she's still planning on divorcing him. She figures the new John is permanent and won't be able to love her the way she needs. She deserves better than a roll in the hay! Anna says it makes sense but asks if Marlena's out of her mind! Marlena shares children and memories with John. She shouldn't give up. Marlena reminds her that John's a different person, but Anna wants her to give John another chance. "Whatever happened to 'stand by your man'," she asks, "Or is that just a country song?" Marlena is lonely for John but he's not the same man. She can't risk investing in John. Anna is hurt for John. Marlena is flustered and starts to get up to leave but Anna apologizes. She's anxious for them to get back on track. They were the perfect couple once and it breaks her heart that they're not together. Marlena doesn't respect John, she admits. His regard for her changes, daily and he can't socialize normally. Anna starts to see things Marlena's way. Marlena is thankful for Anna's understanding and she says she has to start taking care of herself. She has a patient, so the pair hug and Marlena takes off. Anna makes a call to John after, and tells him it's time they had a long talk.

Ducks In a Row!

At the DiMera Mansion, EJ and John discuss what Stefano might be up to, holding a cocktail party. John wonders why he would be invited to one of his parties. EJ notes that he is invited too. Sami appears. "So am I!" Sami mentions that she left messages for John with the housekeeper, but they were intercepted. Stefano appears and says, "Indeed!" Sami recounts how Stefano showed up at the police station. John assures her he would've come if he'd got the messages. EJ wonders what Stefano's motive was in helping Sami. Stefano says he wanted to prove he wasn't such a bad guy. Sami notes that she didn't accept his help. John tells Stefano to stay away from Sami. Stefano goes to check on the champagne. Sami asks if they know what the party is about. EJ tells her he has no idea, but he's grateful she didn't take Stefano up on his offer for help. They start to argue about her going to the cabin and he tells her to grow up. She notes that her parents just said the same thing. Tony and Anna have joined the group and EJ asks Stefano if this party is just some charade to get them back on his side. Stefano says tonight they're going to see that he's not their enemy. He says the reason the family is torn apart is due to someone who can be more ruthless than he can! John takes Sami out in the hallway and she thanks him for being on her side. He says if EJ upset her it was only out of concern. He notes that he feels like she's the only one who gets him too - especially since Ava left. He then asks what he can do to help her. She says she isn't sure if anyone can help her, except maybe Stefano. John panics, warning her to have nothing to do with his brother! He tells her if anyone can stop Stefano - it's him. They then return to the party.

Stefano stands before his guests and says he hopes that what is revealed tonight will reunite the DiMera family as they realize that they have been torn apart by the criminal actions of someone they would least suspect! Just then, Marlena arrives. Stefano says, "My dear, your timing is impeccable, as always!" Sami asks what she's doing there and Marlena says she got a message from John asking her to meet him here. John says he didn't send her a message. Stefano admits that he did it - he wanted to make sure she showed up - she's the guest of honor! Marlena says she won't be staying, and the others all start making noises about leaving. Stefano tells them all to stop - they aren't going anywhere until he tells them why he has brought the guest of honor there. He turns to Marlena, saying that they will all be surprised to find that within her body beats a heart as black as his! Marlena tells him to go to Hell and walks out into the hall. John follows, asking her not to leave. She says Stefano is right, she's a doctor and she injected a man with poison. John says she had reason - he got what he deserved! Marlena gets tears in her eyes and thanks him. "He did take away the man I loved most in the world, and I'll never get him back again." John urges her to feel empowered by her actions - she protected her family. Back in the living room, Anna asks Stefano if they're supposed to believe that Marlena is responsible for his coma? Stefano says Marlena is a menace! Suddenly, Marlena walks back into the room and tells them that she did it! She injected Stefano with poison and put him in a coma! And given the chance to do it again - she might just do it! Anna is stunned, but Sami says her mother had no choice. Marlena says her conscience wouldn't allow her to kill him, so she had to incapacitate him - so he could no longer hurt anyone! Stefano calls it torture - he was a prisoner in his own body. Sami says he deserved it - she's proud of her mother! Stefano wants to know what EJ and Tony think now that they know the truth. They tell him he brought it on himself and he gets no sympathy from them. Stefano glares, and puts them all on notice. "Vengeance will be mine!" John, however, steps forward and puts Stefano on notice!

Back at the DiMera Mansion, Anna, Tony, and EJ wonder out loud what John and Stefano are discussing behind closed doors. EJ tells Tony it's time to make their move and take over from Stefano!

In the living room, John warns Stefano to stay away from Marlena and not breathe a word of what she did to anyone else. Stefano says he can't agree to that - she needs to pay! John says he'll have to go through him! Stefano says that's fine. John tells him what he went through in the coma is nothing! He leaves the room and Stefano strolls out into the hall laughing. EJ and Tony ask what's so funny. Stefano chuckles, "John. You two clowns." He assures them that he's putting all of his ducks in a row! John runs into Sami and Marlena outside. He tells Marlena he has her back and as long as he's alive, Stefano will never hurt her!

Glutton For Punishment!

At the DiMera Mansion, Stefano wants Anna to come and have a talk with him! He pulls out a photo album with old pictures of Tony in it. Stefano notes how proud he was of Tony. Anna says that Tony once idolized his father as well. Stefano grows serious and tells Anna that now, Tony has betrayed the family and he will pay! He encourages her to pass on the message to Tony, but she tells him that his empty threats are getting old! He notes that his children haven't lived up to the family name. He says all he ever did was cherish them! Anna laughs and says Stefano's version of love is brutal! Stefano then admits to Anna that he asked Kate to marry him so that she could give him another heir. Anna shakes her head and leaves.
