Fourth of July Celebrations Begin!

Chelsea and Caroline prepare for the Fourth of July celebrations and reminisce about Grandpa Shawn. Caroline gets teary eyed and decides to go put a flag on Shawn's grave! After she leaves, Morgan arrives and reminisces that her family used to do Fourth of July picnics but her mom does the Country Club now and her dad's missing. Chelsea invites her to the Brady celebration. Morgan asks after Chelsea's date with Daniel. Chelsea says it was fabulous and Morgan wishes she had a man to sweep her off her feet. Chloe and Philip walk in the door and Morgan stares. Chelsea admits that Bo isn't happy that she's dating an older guy. Talk turns to Paul and Morgan worries about her father. She needs to see her mother, and may drop by the barbeque later. Caroline returns and thanks Chelsea for her hard work. Roman's headed over to help her bring the food to the party.

At their table, Chloe tells Philip that she told the police she saw Paul on the pier to help him, but Philip says it's unfortunate that it made things worse. The police now think that Phil paid Paul to set the fire. Chloe thinks the police need to find Paul and prove he set the fire. Phillip wonders if Chloe's being honest, since she can't prove it. She apologizes for not telling him before she confessed. Philip says, what's done is done and they decide to get together later. When Chloe excuses herself, Philip goes to a weeping Morgan, and asks what's going on. She admits she hasn't heard from her father yet. Philip comforts her and tells her that he's looking for her father, too, as he believes that Paul was working for John Black. When Philip hugs Morgan, Chloe becomes jealous and takes Philip from the pub. Chelsea arrives and is confused about what's going on.

Roman arrives at the pub and they discuss going to the cemetery to see Pop today. They'll miss him and how he used to weasel his way into getting extra burgers on past holidays! Talk turns to Sami and Caroline hopes she doesn't take EJ with her to the party.

GlobeTrotting Bohemian Commitment Phobic Surfer?

At the pub, Stephanie and Caroline discuss Max and Chelsea rushes in, needing help with dressing for her date. Max arrives and Stephanie doesn't want Max to meet his father, especially after the way he treated him. Max can take care of himself. He loves her, but needs to do this alone. Chelsea, covered with garment bags, is ready to leave. She comes out of the bedroom and kisses Steph goodbye. Again, Stephanie asks Max not to see Trent.

Dormant Brain Wave Patterns on Disk!

In Max's room, Caroline tells him that he can't just drop this bombshell about who his father is, and then say nothing else. Max concedes that he has known about him for awhile. She asks why he is in Salem, and Max tells her that he has a job here. She continues asking questions, and says she knows he's not alright. He apologizes for keeping it from her, but says he doesn't want to be like his biological father. "I want to be more like Pop!" She assures Max that he is like Shawn. Caroline then asks if he has spoken to his father. Max says he has - and the man is a jerk. He tells her that he doesn't want anyone to know that Max is his son. Caroline is surprised. Max says he doesn't want to have anything to do with his father - ever. Caroline tells him she thinks that would be a mistake! She then asks him what he learned about his father that is so disturbing! She encourages him to talk about it. Max tells her that his father abandoned his mother and him. He broke his mother's heart and left her all alone. He maintains that his mother died because of him - she got sick and she didn't get better! Max tells Caroline that Child Services contacted his father when his mother died, and his father watched as he was taken kicking and screaming into foster care - he didn't want him, and he didn't care! Caroline embraces Max.

I Just Came In For a Sticky Bun!

At the Pub, Hope tells Bo that she still can't believe Phillip would have had anything to do with the fire. Bo notes that he is the number one suspect, like it or not. At that moment, Chelsea comes in and surprises them by asking to speak to Hope alone! Nearby, Morgan and Chloe have another little run-in as Chloe thinks back to the kiss on the dock. As Hope and Chelsea go off to talk, Caroline approaches Bo and says she gave Max the morning off 'under the circumstances'. Bo asks what is going on, but Caroline won't tell him because Max told her in confidence. Nearby, Chelsea asks to borrow a pair of earrings from Hope and admits that she has a date. She gets a very disapproving look from Hope, however, when she asks to keep it a secret from her dad! Caroline and Bo watch, and he tells his mom that he has waited a long time for Hope and Chelsea to have a mother/daughter moment. Hope asks Chelsea why she doesn't want her father to know about her date. Chelsea admits that it's Daniel. Hope tells her she is very concerned about the age difference. Chelsea asks if she is going to back her, and Hope sighs. She then asks Chelsea if he asked her out, which Chelsea confirms. Hope is glad of that, and reluctantly agrees to wait to mention it to Bo. She says there is one condition - if there is going to be a second date, they have to tell him!

At the Brady Pub, Marlena meets up with John. She tells him she had a wonderful time last night. He suggests that next time maybe she could sleep over. He notes that he has kept her room the same! She says she doesn't think either one of them are ready for her to move back in. Over at the bar, Max and Stephanie talk and she asks why he didn't tell her about Dean Robbins. He tells her he has enough problems - he doesn't need her mad at him as well! As she presses him for information, he admits he has known about Robbins for years. Stephanie asks when he is going to tell his mother, but Max replies that he is not ready for that. Over at their table, John tells Marlena that they need to talk about Phillip Kiriakis! Nearby, Stephanie leaves, and Caroline comes out and asks Max if there is something on his mind! She tells him to talk about it and not keep things to himself! Back at the table, Marlena asks John if he is still wanting to talk about his theory that Phillip is behind the drug bust. John asserts that he knows he is! He then phones Phillip, growling at him to come to the Pub. Over in the bar, Caroline says that if something is bothering Max it hurts her too! Just then, Nick comes over. He realizes he has interrupted something important, but Caroline walks away in frustration, urging Nick to talk some sense into Max!

Stephanie, Morgan, and Chelsea arrive at the Brady Pub, passing Dean Robbins as they go inside. Morgan is disappointed to see that Chloe is at the Pub, calling her a 'harlot'. Stephanie spots Caroline and asks if Max talked to her, and is frustrated when she says he didn't. Max comes downstairs and Stephanie again presses him to tell his mother the truth. Max sighs and approaches Caroline, asking if she's got a minute. "It's about my biological father." He tells her about Dean Robbins and she thanks him for confiding in her. Nearby, Chloe and Morgan have a run-in, which ends with Morgan saying to Chloe, "You must be really threatened by me, and you know what? You should be!"

Pinky Swear.

Nicole meets EJ at the pub. He has found a way to force the divorce and get a huge settlement, without going to court, only if she promises to keep quiet about his annulment. She admits she likes holding this over him, but asks him for his respect. She doesn't think Sami's right for him, so he asks who is? "Someone who actually wants you." EJ winces. "Ouch." Nicole's trying to be a friend. EJ knows but he's not interested in others, because of his feelings for Samantha. He deserves better, says Nicole, and she promises to keep his secret. She asks, "Want a pinky swear?" He's confused. "A pinky what?" She shows him how to intertwine pinky fingers and he jokes that he now feels so much better! They seal the deal with a drink and EJ goes off to see Victor.

Stephanie finds Max working behind the bar. Caroline stops her and asks after Joey. Stephanie's happy to tell her that he's doing well. Max has finished his shift and is exhausted. When Stephanie asks what happened between he and Nick, he doesn't want to discuss it and kisses her and goes off to bed. Caroline comes to Stephanie and offers a friendly ear. Kayla interrupts and Stephanie goes after Max while Caroline hugs Kayla and tells her how happy she is that Joey's going to be okay. Talk turns to Max and Kayla tells Caroline that Max is great at physics, and relays the story of how he fixed Nick's work. Caroline is amazed. "He's a genius?" They discuss how Max has been waiting for closure with Pop's death. She wonders if she should talk to him.

Green, Green, Green!

A hung over EJ arrives at the pub and takes a spot at the bar. Caroline commiserates with his plight and serves him coffee. Nicole arrives and offers EJ a honey banana smoothie that's guaranteed to get rid of the hangover. EJ will do anything, as long as he feels better, so Caroline offers Nicole to get behind the bar and make the smoothie. EJ wonders why they're getting along. Caroline's happy that Nicole's divorcing Caroline's ex-lover, Nicole says and tells him she used to tend bar. EJ hopes he didn't embarrass himself last night. Nicole tells him he was fun and his secrets are safe with her. EJ slugs down Nicole's creation and asks what happened last night.

Back at the pub, Bo tells Caroline about the guidelines that they've got to follow in order to make the pub green. Max offers to help, and they find Shawn's green beer and decide to tap it. Kayla calls Hope with the bad news and Hope relays to the family that the baby's lungs are filling with fluid. The family worries and Chelsea disappears as Max takes off for the hospital.

Nicole and EJ leave the pub. EJ has some things to attend to and will talk to her soon. Nicole says, "Yeah, you'll hear from me alright!" Nicole finds John, outside the Brady pub, later, and he asks if she's seen Philip. She tells him not since she walked in on him and Chloe in bed! John finds this useful!

At the pub, John finds Caroline at the bar. She moodily gets him a cup of coffee while John wonders what happened to service with a smile. Hope finds John and is surprised that he's out. As a cop and a friend, she tells him he needs to prove his innocence before she'll believe in him. Later, Hope tells Bo that John maintains innocence, while Roman and Abe have proof otherwise.

Outside the pub, John calls Philip. It's time they met. Philip agrees to it and calls someone to let them know his plans. "He's in for a big surprise," says Phil. Chloe comes to Philip, but he has no time for her and races out of the restaurant. Curious Chloe trails after him.

Nicole bumps into John and asks where John's headed, but when he refuses to tell her and give her a lift, she becomes suspicious and decides to follow him.
