Eye of newt? Tongue of frog?

On Tinda Lau, Shawn plays with Claire and her new teddy bear [from Gabby] when Belle walks into the room with clean laundry. Shawn comments that he wishes they had new clothes and tells her that since tips were good at the bar last night, they should treat themselves. Belle reluctantly agrees to get Claire a few new items since she's growing out of her clothes but refuses to get anything for herself. She notices how he has cleaned the room and is impressed with him. She goes off to get new clothes and leaves Shawn behind.

Shawn goes to work and notices that a drunken man is seated at the end of the bar. Gabby tells Shawn that he's a beach bum/millionaire, named Charlie. He's a drunk; she admits and tells Shawn that they need to keep an eye on him. Charlie pesters Gabby to dance but she rejects him. When he doesn't listen, Shawn tells him to get his hands off of Gabby and threatens to break them if he touches her again! The man backs off and a wide eyed Gabby tells Shawn that it's best he stay away from Charlie, then leaves the room. Belle comes back from shopping and shows off Claire's new dress, then apologize for kissing Shawn earlier. When he acts nonchalant about the kiss saying "I haven't given it a second thought!" she appears disappointed.

Belle and Gabby go upstairs and take a few snapshots of Belle and Claire. Gabby inquires about what happened between Shawn and Belle the evening previous, and Belle admits that she hurt Shawn's pride. Belle slyly asks Gabby if there was something going on with her and Shawn last night. Gabby answers in the negative and says that she's not into getting tied down to one particular guy. She goes on to say that she can see how much Shawn wants Belle and knows that Shawn will wait for her. "There is no other girl for him," she says, in reference to Belle. The two go downstairs and Belle mentions how she wants to send a photo to Roman. Gabby suggests they send another letter to Roman and include the new photo. She promises, "I'll ensure it gets to him."

Charlie asks for another drink and Shawn tells him he's cut off. He tells Belle to stay away from Charlie. She laughs his warning off and goes to sit with Gabby. Charlie starts talking trash about Belle and Shawn tells him to lay off. "That's my wife," he says, demanding respect. Charlie tells him "That's not the way I heard things!" This sets Shawn off and he grabs Charlie and punches him. The two men roll around on the floor of the bar until Gabby puts a stop to the fight. "Shawn, you're killing him!" she exclaims.

Green wedding plans

On Tinda Lau, Belle chit chats with Claire before she receives a visit from Duck, who is looking for Shawn. She lets Duck know that Shawn's not there and he's surprised Shawn would leave a woman and child alone at night. Belle is uneasy with the way the discussion is going and asks him not to pry into her private business with. She tells him it's been a long day and sees him to the door, asking him to ensure that her letter goes out tomorrow.

Belle can't get Claire to sleep so she brings her to Shawn to ask if he can tuck their little girl in. Shawn agrees to help and decides to sleep upstairs with Belle, much to her delight. Once upstairs, Shawn agrees to stop putting the pressure on Belle and start living for Claire. Belle doesn't appear happy to hear this.

Intercepted

On the island of Tinda Lau, Shawn stops Belle from making a call to the USA. He reminds her why she can't call back home but Belle acts as though it wasn't a big deal for her to call Salem, but Shawn tells her that she knows better. Gabby tries to take the blame and apologizes for encouraging Belle to make the call. She offers to take Claire to the bar for ice cream while they talk things out. They agree to it, and when she's gone, Shawn asks her why she went behind his back. "Because I miss her! I miss my mother and I knew you wouldn't understand that," she sobs. Belle tells him she can't live like this but Shawn reminds her that Philip will never give up on finding Claire and that she'd better damned well get used to their life as it is now and forget about Salem.

The two agree not to argue and she asks him to compromise. They write a letter addressed to the Salem Police Department to let Roman know they're safe. Once it's completed, Claire and Gabby come back, and Shawn gives Gabby the letter to send out to Roman while he and Belle put Claire to bed. Once they're gone, Gabby holds on to the letter with a thoughtful look in her eyes. She tears up the letter!

Dudley Do Wrong!

Back upstairs, the girls have moved two twin beds into the room and Gabby promises not to talk to Duck about anything. Belle wakes up and Gabby goes off to get a present for Belle. Belle takes out photos of Marlena and John and tells Claire someone is looking out for them. Gabby comes back with bath supplies, much to Belle's surprise. She's thrilled but when Gabby offers to hold Claire, and grabs her but Belle gets bend out of shape and demands Gabby to take her hands off of Claire. Gabby gives her back and apologizes but Belle apologizes and explains that when Claire is out of her sight she gets upset. She tells her that they were separated once and she's not yet over it. Gabby notices a photo of John and Marlena and Belle explains that her dad was really ill when she left. She wishes she could talk to them one more time, so Gabby suggests that they go downstairs and call Marlena! Belle sadly tells her it's not possible but Gabby says she does all of the bills and nobody will find out. Belle wants to do it but doesn't want to renege on the promise she made to Shawn, not to make a call. They rush downstairs and Shawn finds them at the telephone. "What are you pretty ladies up to?" he asks. They tell him nothing is going on and they start to talk about girl talk, so Shawn promises to take care of Belle while they make themselves more beautiful. Belle makes a call to USA. She can't get through and ask she asks what the problem is, Shawn comes up behind her!

A friend in need...

Shawn runs through a restaurant on an Island yelling, "Help! It's my little girl. She needs a doctor. Is there anyone here?" A man [Duck] comes up behind him with a shotgun and asks, "Who the hell are you?" The man thinks that Shawn is helping himself to his booze, but Shawn confesses to who he is and why they're there. Shawn brings the man to Claire, and the man admits Claire needs a doctor, and fast! Duck's daughter, Gabrielle, comes downstairs and in French, she asks her dad to find the doctor. She thinks the baby could die! Belle speaks some French and is shocked to hear that Claire is in worse off condition than she originally thought. Gabby gets some cold compresses and Shawn takes Claire's temperature. It's a staggering 103 degrees. As Gabby listens from the bar, Shawn tells Belle that they will be quiet about who they are. Gabby helps cool Claire down with cold compresses and as Claire sobs, Gabby explains that the people on the island are usually running from the law. Belle, Shawn and Claire get cleaned up and then the doctor arrives and gives Claire a shot. He tells them that they must pay $50 for the house call but since they're broke, Gabby agrees to pay for it from her tips. Belle and Shawn are grateful but grouchy Duck isn't impressed that Gabby paid for the shot and asks Shawn when he's leaving. Shawn asks for a job from Duck, but he's a tough cookie and isn't willing to help them. Gabby tells them that her dad is a crusty old war hero and his bark is worse than his bite, but Shawn still would like to keep moving. He agrees to stay when Belle pleads with him that they need a place to call home even if it's temporary.
