Flashing back, Colleen and Santo's kiss grows urgent, and Colleen becomes afraid and breaks it off. She jumps up to go until Santo begs her to stay. "I could never be satisfied with another woman." He says. "I want you to be a woman Colleen. I want you to be my woman." He proves his feelings with another kiss! Colleen breaks it off laughing, and tells Santo that with his fancy language, he could be an actor. She asks him to be just a man, "My man." Santo smiles at the sound of those words and Colleen urges him to speak to her in Italian. Santo gets down on one knee and in Italian; he professes his love for her! The group at the pub laughs and Lucas says, "Did he just drop the L word?!" Suddenly their laughter turns to fear, when Tony rushes in the door! Bo grabs for his gun but Tony convinces them that he's not Andre by telling them the names of the island girls. He shares the happenings from the DiMera mansion and tells them that before Bart died by Andre's sword; he ate the key that could stop the DiMera/Brady feud! When Hope suggests they cut Bart open and get the key, Sami is disgusted, but Hope's idea appeals to Bo and he, Tony and John leave for the mansion.
Julie continues to read the letter. Colleen admits to Santo that her grandmother always told her to be careful about what she desired. Santo begs her to tell him what she wants, and she runs her hands over her hair and tries to compose herself. She walks away from him and Santo can tell she is taken by him, yet she continues to deny her feelings. Colleen tells him that he's asking her to break her vows and asks where that will lead her. Santo replies that it'll lead her to him, but says that all that binds them together is sin. Santo reminds her that love isn't sin, but Colleen retorts that they're asking for eternal damnation. Santo doesn't care. "Take my soul, do what you want with it," he replies, passionately. They agree to be friends only but Santo asks Colleen if they're going to go dancing. Suddenly, Colleen is called away from her brother Shawn, who lets her know she's needed at church. With a last smile, she runs off with the boy.

Julie says that is the end of the letter, and they all wonder why Colleen died. Lucas asks Sami why she and EJ aren't fated to be together, since they look identical to Colleen and Santo. Sami tells him that he's not funny, and asks him to stop it, but Lucas keeps it up and asks once again why they're not fated to be together. Sami finally yells at him to stop it. She doesn't see his teasing as a joke, so he apologizes and hugs her.
At the pub, Sami can barely believe that Bo and Hope suspect grandpa Shawn of killing Colleen. Julie and Doug arrive with Marlena and John and a new batch of freshly translated letters to go through. They sit down around a table and Julie begins to read.
Flashback. Colleen meets with Santo on the moonlit beach. Looking in his seductive eyes, she prays to God for strength. She stands and begins accusing him, a married man, of making indecent advances. Staring off, he tells her that his wife died three days ago. He wishes that he and Stefano could have gotten back to say goodbye in time. Turning to Colleen, he tells her that if he lost her, he could not live. She moves away from him. This isn't right, she says. He tells her that God would never ask a beautiful woman like her to sacrifice herself and her passion. She claims that she can live without passion. He asks her to kiss him one last time then, just to prove that she feels nothing for him. He pulls her into a kiss and then tells her that she has a decision she has to make: Back to the church, or stay in his arms. 'I felt nothing,' she says, walking away. He picks her wrap up from the beach and offers it to her. When she turns to him, she tells him to toss it to her. He claims the wind would steal it away and begins to tease her with it. She becomes angry, telling him that he is not as irresistible as he believes and asking him to do as he promises. He tells her that he doesn't chase women and he takes his vows seriously, but now he is free of them. She asks him again for her wrap, but falls into his arms when she reaches for it.
In the backyard of the Brady home, Julie reads that Santo writes back to Colleen, letting her know that he has been back to the church many times and has not seen her. Julie figures Colleen was having second thoughts. Doug ponders that Colleen was afraid to turn her back on the church. Bo wistfully says that he wishes he could go back and warn her.
Back at the Brady backyard, Bo says to Julie, "Hang on, that's Grandpa Pete!" Doug grins and says, "He was a tough old bird." Bo tells them that Pete would go out in the bogs, cut peat and carry it to a market in Galway. He says they burned peat because there was no wood in Ireland. Hope realizes that if that man was Pete Brady, the boy with him was surely "Pop" (Shawn Sr.)!! Marlena says that Shawn Sr. must have been preparing for his first communion. John wonders how much "Pop" saw going on between Santo and Colleen, but doesn't think it could have been much, considering his young age.
Back at the Brady's, Bo wonders if this is the start of the feud. Marlena says at that time it was only a one-way war. Doug thinks maybe it was grandpa Pete who threw the first punch, so Julie reads on to find out. She reads that Santo saw a divine purpose with his first meeting with Colleen.
In the backyard at the Brady's, Julie reads that Santo says he'll never stop dreaming that their paths will once again cross. Marlena say she hopes the translator doesn't take the holiday off, because she is dying to know what comes next! Julie happily tells her that the translator is as intrigued as they are. Hope admits that they still don't know much about Colleen and Santo. Bo thinks it's ironic that Pete knew from the beginning not to trust a DiMera. He figures Pete had his secrets! He also figures they'll learn more about Santo and Colleen without Shawn Sr.'s help.
Back at the safe house, Sami says that Colleen made the first move and Santo was interested. She figures they must have met at some point. Lucas starts kissing Sami and wants to make love. They head to the shower.
Hope and Bo clean up outside, after the 4th of July party when Doug and Julie arrive with the first two translated letters from Santo and Colleen. They relay how they've had Roman drop off copies to Sami and Lucas at the Safe House. Marlena and John arrive back at the party to find out what happened all those years ago. John says that all they know is that Colleen was a novice, and not yet a nun. John says they also know that Santo was hit on the head.
Back at the Brady's, Julie reads, that Santo lay there in the church in Colleen's arms and says that Colleen felt joy when Santo opened his eyes. "She was left breathless when he opened his eyes." She reads. Julie smiles at everyone, and says, "I don't think Colleen was shy!"
