Back at the party, Hope opens all her presents and Bo gives Hope a fleur de lis necklace (it's one of the actress' designs). They kiss and profess love for each other. Belle and Shawn sip champagne and Belle says nothing will come between them. They drink to it. Doug brings a cake out and Hope thanks everyone for joining them. Belle goes to Hope and tell her she agrees with everything she said today. Hope is overjoyed until Philip arrives to wishes Bo and Hope a Happy Anniversary. Belle gets upset and tells him he's not welcome at this party. She says he's not fooling anyone and says there is no hope for them. "So get over it." She says. Philip tells her she has made herself perfectly clear and apologizes for his actions. He leaves and Shawn hugs Belle while Bo and Hope look on.
At the Brady home, Marlena reads Belle and Shawn's wedding invitation then looks at a photo of she and John and says wistfully, "Why aren't you here? You were supposed to be here." Maggie arrives.
In the kitchen, Max and Shawn are told by Doug that Shawn Sr. had a stomach pain and isn't going to be at the wedding. Roman goes off to check on him.
At the Brady's, the wedding is about to begin. Sami comes down the stairs, and then Chelsea and Claire follow with Marlena and Belle close behind. Abe and Lexi grin from ear to ear as Belle walks down the aisle. When Belle sees the watch on Shawn's arm, a look of horror crosses her face and she flashes back to Philip getting the very same watch caught in her hair. She flashes back to having sex with Philip.
Belle sees Philip when she looks at Shawn, and Marlena tells Belle her daddy's here, on her right side. "He's always with us." she encourages. Belle grins and starts crying as Hope, Steve and Steve look on. The wedding vows begin.
Shawn tells Belle it seems like a million years ago since they first got together and that things haven't gone as planned but his love has never changed for her. "You're everything that I need Belle," he says and goes on to say he can't imagine being anywhere but at her side. Belle cries and smiles while Shawn places a ring upon her finger. She says, she remembers in high school when they gave each other the purity rings and that they're a symbol of their deep commitment of how their love from this day forward will be pure. Shawn kisses her hand and she sees the watch. "Stop. I can't do this…" she says, sniffling. She makes a quick recovery and apologizes and says she's trying to remember what she was going to say but he keeps interrupting her. A sigh of relief is heard through the house as Belle tells him she's glad Shawn fought for her and Claire and that this proved that he loved her. "My dad wasn't the only hero in my life." she says and thinks if John were here today he'd be happy and at peace, knowing his baby girl was in good hands. She promises to be a good wife, to love Shawn and be faithful to him as long as they both shall live then slips a ring on his finger. "With this ring I make that pledge." The priest pronounces them husband and wife and they both smile and laugh as they stare into each other's eyes. Belle and Shawn share their first kiss as husband and wife!
At the pub, Doug makes a speech about Shawn and Belle after telling the family, Shawn Sr. simply had indigestion. Doug says this year, lost loves were reunited; they welcomed new members to the family and lost someone close to them. He brings up the loss of John and says John's there with them in spirit. "Dear God we miss you John, we always will," he says and he welcomes Belle into the family.
Shawn and Belle dance and stare into each other's eyes happily while the family looks on and Edwin McCain's song, "I'll Be (Your Crying Shoulder) plays in the background. Chelsea and Nick kiss and start to dance. While Julie takes Johnny and Maggie takes Ali, Lucas takes Sami's hand and they get on the dance floor. She asks him where they go from here and he kisses her cheek and tells her it's up to her.
Steve congratulates Belle and Shawn and they thank Steve for helping get Claire back.
Back at the church, the men take John's casket out to the hearse as the family follows.
At the pub, Bo is using a magnifying glass to search for a serial number on the fragments of glass from the hit and run driver's headlight. Hope asks Bo to take a break but he says there is no time to waste.
Stephanie goes to Max and they discuss John and Marlena's great love. She compares it to her parents and wonders how Marlena will be able to say goodbye.
Chelsea sadly talks to Billie about John's passing, and then wonders if they'll go after her. Billie says she's more worried about the rapist on campus and begs Chelsea to be on guard. She holds her and tells her she's all she has.
Inside the pub, Maggie tells Belle Marlena will call when she needs them. Tony blames himself for not being able to do anything for John but Anna reminds him it wasn't his fault he missed out on the last 20 years. He takes Anna's hand and goes to Lexi and introduces Anna to her. Tony says they're bonded because they despise Stefano as a father, and invites Lexi to dinner. She happily accepts.
Stephanie gets Kayla something to eat and gives Steve a paper with her new number at the sorority house and school schedule.
In a booth, Bo, Abe and Roman figure out that there is a serial number on the glass. They read, "27RL4. It doesn’t give us much."
Shawn Sr. makes a toast. Everyone raises their glasses. "To my boy Johnny, a Brady if there ever was one."
We see Stefano at the church. He leaves a pawn from a chess set, by Claire's painting and we see flashbacks of Stefano is having someone tattoo John's back with the phoenix, branding him as a pawn. We see John finding his name on a sign, John and Marlena rafting and then kissing ashore. We see John giving Marlena that beautiful charm bracelet and Shawn says, "To our friend, our son, our brother" Hope, Sami, Doug and Julie all reminisces about when John woke up from his coma and Shawn finishes, "Beloved, John Black."

Family gathers at the pub and Belle tells Sami that Brady and Chloe are snowed in and can't make it. Eric's not coming either, says Sami. Doug says the whole vendetta thing has gone out of control and Steve agrees, remembering he was the one who took John back to Salem. "I never figured that he'd end up being one of my best friends," he says sadly while Kayla hugs him.
Stephanie apologizes to Abe for his loss and Lexi thanks her. Celeste thinks John will be a very restless soul.
Jett asks Chelsea where Nick is and finds out that he's home with the kids. He didn't know John well.
Arriving late to the pub, Lucas runs into EJ and yells, "What are you doing here?" EJ says he came to repay his respects, and sets Lucas off. He belts EJ in the gut and EJ goes down, while Kate, Abe, Doug, Steve and Sami run outside to tell EJ to get lost and have some respect.
