Julie and Doug arrive at the hospital. Julie acknowledges to Maggie that it will be a difficult Christmas for her in light of everything that has happened with Nick. Just then, Stefano walks in. Julie expresses her disgust! Stefano asks her if there is a problem - she tells him his charity is not welcome at the hospital! He reminds her that charity starts at home - and he feels very much at home there seeing as he owns a lot of stock. Doug tells him no one wants him there - he should move on! Steve, Kayla and family arrive, as do others, and Steve tells Stefano to get out or he'll throw him out!
Lexi and family arrive at the hospital in time to witness Steve threatening Stefano, and Stefano warning that he won't make his substantial donation to the hospital. Lexi tells Steve she'll handle it, then asks Stefano to go. Stefano agrees - if that's what she wants. They exchange curt 'Merry Christmases' and Stefano speaks to Theo. After he leaves, Abe says, "Crisis averted." Doug is in Santa gear by now, and the reading of the Christmas story commences.
The traditional Christmas celebrations have begun at Alice Horton’s house. Maggie comments on the necklace from Kate and cheerfully says that Kate giving her that necklace proves that Kate is sure she’s the right girl for Lucas. Lucas, Doug, and Julie walk in and say that Alice and Mickey are watching movies with Allie. Julie notices Chloe’s necklace and Doug tells Chloe that she’s a welcome addition to the family. Chloe thanks everyone for being so nice.
Back in the Horton house, Chloe looks at Alice’s photos and Lucas asks if she’d like to have that many kids one day. Julie asks Maggie if she ever thought Lucas and Chloe would end up together. Maggie says no but she’s never seen Lucas so happy. They cheerfully agree that Alice had a good idea and look at the tree. The Bradys and Carvers enter the Horton house to begin celebrations. Bo tells Hope he had a little help finding Theo, and that he’d explain later. Everyone starts the traditional trimming of the tree for Alice to see in the morning. John observes and asks Marlena why she brought him here. Marlena answers that this is what Christmas is really about. John looks at the tree in thought and finally realizes how important it is to remember. Meanwhile, Maggie and Julie give Chloe and Lucas a box of ornaments, including a new one made for Chloe. She thanks them and goes to place it on the tree next to Lucas’ but it falls and breaks. Chloe apologizes but Lucas says the only thing that matters is that they’re together. Doug makes a toast to the family and plays the piano as Chloe sings “Silent Night.”
Melanie continues to poke around in Trent's wallet, at Chez Rouge. She takes out cash for the dinner but Nick tells her to put her money away. He's paying. She asks if he can show her Salem's hot spots but he doesn't know them. She flirts and says she can teach him a thing or two.
Julie and Doug show up at Chez Rouge. They spy Melanie. Maggie and Mickey explain that Melanie is Max's sister. Julie says there is something about her body language that she doesn't like.
Back at Nick's table, Melanie asks Nick if he needs ice for his hand. She's never had anyone protect her before. She gets up and sits on his lap and theatrically calls him her hero.
Nearby, Julie and Maggie agree that Melanie's a trouble maker. Doug asks how they know. "Takes one to know one," says Julie, laughing. They're interrupted by Hope, who calls to ask Mickey to go to the station. Caroline was arrested for the murder of Trent Robbins. Julie finds it ludicrous and they all agree to go to the station, but first, they have to tell Melanie. Mickey tells her.
At the station, Roman is told that Trent was murdered and Bo is bringing a suspect in. Bo walks in with Caroline and Roman glances up. "Ma what are you doing here? Bo, I thought you were bringing in a suspect." He looks from Bo's distressed face to Caroline's bloodied hands and says, "No. Uh uh. This can't be." Bo tells Roman she was found holding what was probably the murder weapon. She says, "I didn't kill him. You've got to believe me." Roman believes her, and tells her everything will be okay. Mickey, Maggie, Julie and Doug arrive and comfort Caroline, who says it doesn't look very good. Mickey takes Caroline into Roman's office to talk, while Doug asks Bo what happened. Bo explains and Maggie offers to go sit with her. She does so and Roman goes to the lab while Bo calls Hope at the cemetery. Doug and Julie discuss how Trent wasn't well liked but Julie can't believe that someone would murder him.
Nick and Melanie arrive at the station. Doug and Julie apologize for her loss. Melanie wants to know what happened. Though what he did with Claude was wrong, he's still her dad. Bo asks if Melanie can identify her father's body when he's brought in. She can, and says she needs to prepare herself. She turns to Nick. "I'm so glad you're here. I don't know what I would have done without you."
Inside Roman's office, Roman and Mickey discuss the case with Maggie and Caroline. They may have to put her in jail, considering four witnesses saw her with what appears to be the murder weapon, and since she has known animosity with the victim. Roman must walk Caroline down to her jail cell. Julie yells to Bo that this is a travesty and Bo promises he won't rest until he finds out who did it.
Roman closes the bars in on Caroline, in her cell. She holds his hand, as though to say she'll be fine.
Daniel finishes his speech and he and Lexi leave the board meeting. The board deliberates while, outside the boardroom, Daniel cracks jokes about Eleanor being a constipated board member. Lexi knows she has made some mistakes, but Daniel asks her to stay positive. Lexi loves her job, but is having second thoughts, because of the pressure. "I need to be there for my little boy," she says. "Then you know what you have to do," says Daniel. They return to the boardroom and Eleanor is about to tell her that the board voted in her favor, when Lexi resigns as Chief of Staff. The board members are shocked, but she tells them it's best for her and for the hospital. Her focus needs to be on her family and on Theo. She'll continue her practice, with a more flexible schedule. She thanks the board members, but when Eleanor asks her once to reconsider, Lexi refuses to. She has made her decision, and leaves. Once the meeting is adjourned, Victor lectures Daniel about his fling with Kate. "How could you do this?" Daniel doesn't think it's Victor's business, but Victor disagrees. Daniel calls their time together a mistake. "It was only a couple of times." He's not giving up on Chelsea. They argue, but when Victor finds out that Kate is in the hospital, he rushes to her side.
Lexi arrives at her board meeting with Julie and greets Victor, Mickey and Doug. They take their seats and the board meeting commences with Eleanor recounting all of the good and bad that Lexi has done for the hospital. She focuses on the negative, saying that Lexi has had cost overruns, outstanding collectibles and says there was no fundraiser this summer, as there is each year. Lexi admits she had no time to work on the fundraiser, and Eleanor barks that she could have contacted the fundraiser committee. That's what they're there for! Eleanor asks straight out if Lexi's personal life got into her position. "Dr Carver was given a position for which she was completely unqualified for," says Eleanor. Daniel arrives and replies, "I couldn't disagree more." He shares that he likes the way things work around here. That says a lot about the person running the show. Eleanor wonders if Theo's recent diagnosis of Autism has affected Lexi's job. Julie doesn't like the line of personal questions and lets it be known while Daniel disagrees that this is the case. Lexi says that though she has been through a lot, her personal life will not affect her position. Daniel calls Lexi compassionate and thinks she's the best person to lead this institution. He calls the hospital fortunate to have her and thinks it'd be a mistake to lose her. Lexi and Daniel are asked to step outside while they deliberate. Once they leave, the board discusses what to do with Lexi.
At the church, Brad Baker, a Salem Spectator reporter, tells Abe to keep better tabs on his men and Roman asks what this is about. Bo tells him this isn't the time, or place. Brad disagrees and thinks the papers will be interesting and all about corruption in the Salem PD. Caroline asks Victor if he knows what this is about. Kayla asks Steve if he knows what this is about and Roman thinks this is a misunderstanding. Brad has proof. John listens from outside the door and thinks Hope can help them. He reads the anonymous letter, but Roman points out that this is meaningless. Kate thinks she should get Victor out of the church. Abe screams at everyone to stop chattering and invites the man down to the station. Brad claims Paul Hollingsworth is dead and Bo is protecting the murderer. Brad says there is a tape recording, and Bo got rid of it. Chelsea yells that he's lying and asks Bo to say something. Abe wants to know if there was a tape. Bo finally confesses, "Yeah, there was." There is a collective murmur amongst family and friends. "Oh no…" Brad refuses to reveal his sources. He and Abe leave and Bo apologizes to the family for making a bad decision. He apologizes to Hope and Roman tells him he needs answers. Bo tells Roman the tape was destroyed and nobody else is going to pay for his mistake. He says he's covering for nobody and knew what he was doing. "I'll accept the consequences." Roman has to arrest Bo. The family follows them out and John comes out of hiding, and then crosses off something in a notebook. (Perhaps Bo's name?)
Bo and Hope continue on their romantic carriage ride through the park, kissing and grinning at each other, and reminiscing about their past carriage ride in New Orleans. They arrive at the church and Hope's breath is taken away. Bo knew they'd be together forever when she first became his, in New Orleans and he wants to show her how much he loves her. He gets down on one knee and proposes. She accepts and says this means a lot to her. Bo was worried it wouldn't happen because of the whole cover up. Hope decides they won't discuss that today, and they enter the church to cheering family and friends. "We told you, you'd be surprised," yells Maggie, happily. Bo thanks everyone for being there and wishes Shawn, Belle and Claire could come. He reads highlights from a letter they sent, where they send best wishes. Doug and Caroline stand beside Hope and Bo. Doug will officiate. He says he's happy to preside over this happy occasion and remembers that he thought Bo was too much of a rebel to be trusted with his little girl. Steve and Kayla get up and reminisce. Steve says they must be in love, because they keep getting married over, and over, and over! Kayla knows it's special for each and they take a few moments to remember the wedding in New Orleans and we see flashbacks of their vows, then they talk about their second wedding. Ciara asks if she looked like a Princess and Bo tells her, "You bet she did!" They kiss, and remember that they then set sail with Shawn. We are treated to a flashback to Bo and Hope's wedding in the hospital, during the birth of Zach. Steve says that after that wedding, Hope and Bo had a Christmas Eve wedding, with all the trimmings! :)
