At the Kiriakis mansion, Kate and Philip eat breakfast. Well, he isn't eating because he's too upset. He worries that Bo thinks he killed Hollingsworth. "He may not be the only one," Kate says. He's annoyed; he thinks she thinks he's guilty. She insists she isn't judging him. "But I didn't do anything!" he protests, worrying. Henderson comes in with a letter he found on the doorstep. He opens it and hands it off to Kate. "I know your secret," it reads. "Someone is obviously trying to get to me and I do not like it," he says, assuming John is behind it. He leaves to put a stop to it. Kate burns the letter. "If John or anyone else threatens my son, it's the last thing they'll do," she vows.
At the pub, Tony and Kate are toasting to the success of her new "Hearth and Home" product line. Tony tells Roman that he is sure Kate will knock Martha Stewart off her pedestal and be the ultimate American housewife. Roman bursts into laughter. A call comes in from the station and Roman quickly tells his friends that Paul may have met with foul play. He leaves, unable to say more. Tony senses that Kate is hiding something and asks her what it is. She tells him that any act of violence that comes close to her family upsets her. She decides to call Philip and tell him what Roman said. As she leaves to do this, Tony recalls John asking him to put a spin on Paul's corruption charges. He wonders if Uncle John had anything to do with this. Meanwhile, Kate calls Philip and tells him what Roman said. He says he'll talk to her later. Tony sneaks up on her as she hangs up. He tells her he has another meeting and has to cut their meeting short. Tony calls Anna's voice mail to tell her he's going to see Uncle John.
Anna arrives at the pub searching for Tony. She finds Kate instead. Kate isn't friendly. Anna babbles about Tony and asks her to be civil. Kate relents and asks her to sit down and have a drink or five. She sits and tells her that her business folded and she is working with Tony now. Anna gabs about how Carrie and Austin are planning a family. She hopes Carrie turns out to be a better mom than she was. Kate doesn't bother correcting her by suggesting she was a good mother, much to Anna's chagrin. Kate admits that she was never a good role-model to her own children so she won't throw stones. Anna is sure that Kate was a tough woman who would do anything for her kids. Kate thinks she may have been too strong with them. Anna says they've all turned out fine. Kate isn't convinced. Anna says Lucas has time to learn. "Ten years unless he gets off on good behavior," Kate smirks. When they go outside, they hear sirens and noise.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Kate sits down with Philip and tells him not to fret. "Men don't fret," he barks. He feels like he's getting an ulcer. Kate reassures him, saying that the tape is gone. Philip feels terrible that Bo had to clean up his mess. Annoyed, he gets up from the table. She reminds him that he was always the compassionate one; the one who broke up fights... Bo and Victor know that. "You have no idea what I'm capable of," he says. He's done things she wouldn't be proud of. "No matter what it is, you are my son and my heart, so please talk to me," she says. He can't say anymore, but whatever he did, it was for the family. She tells him that's why Bo did what he did and why she destroyed the tape. Philip knows she's always lived a life in the gray area, but Bo has compromised his morality and could lose everything. She tells him to stop being pessimistic. He accuses her of only seeing what she wants to see.
Daniel is on the roof of the building he's gone to check out. Kate wanders out to him. He asks her what she thinks. She asks him how he feels. He thinks Chelsea will like it. She says it's perfect. "Perfectly twisted," he comments. She says he's a good man and will make the right decision. If he was a good man, he wouldn't be in this position, he grimaces. She asks him if they've been wasting their time. "It was a helluva time," he says. Kate makes him promise not to hurt Chelsea. "I would rather die," he vows.
Victor asks Bo to leave the evidence with him at the hospital and walk away, so Bo leaves the recorder in his hand and tells him to take it easy. He relaxes and Bo leaves.
Once outside Victor's room, Bo needs to talk to Philip alone. They go off and Kate wants to visit Victor. Daniel denies her entry and Kate asks if she's making him uncomfortable. Daniel says they're fine. It's in the past. Kate thinks they should stop discussing it. "That's fine," Daniel agrees. Kate calls Chelsea lucky. She's quite a catch, and beautiful. Daniel nods, "Yeah. She is." He tells her she can see Victor briefly, and brushes past her, slowly. "Thanks Doc," Kate says, sadly.
Kate visits Victor at the hospital and questions Bo and Philip's earlier behavior. Victor allows her to play the recording and Kate's shocked. Victor gets upset and Daniel enters the room, angry that Kate got Victor agitated. He accuses her of getting everyone's heart racing, or something to the effect, but they're interrupted by Caroline. Kate runs off, promising to return later. Daniel asks Caroline to make it short and he leaves. Caroline and Victor discuss Bo and Victor asks her to thank Bo for him. She wonders what she can get him and he jokes that he wants release papers. Once Caroline leaves, Kate sneaks back into his room and thinks they need to destroy the tape. She does so. "I'll burn it."
Philip sleeps at the foot of Victor's bed, in a chair. Victor dreams about Philip telling him that he did something that could destroy him and his family, and his monitor goes crazy, so Lexi and Kate rush into the room. "Something is clearly agitating him," Lexi notes, while she examines him.
As Lexi examines Victor, Kate and Philip wait outside. Philip's grumpy and tired. Kate wonders what's going on with Victor, and asks if Philip knows what it is. Philip admits he confided in Victor. He wasn't sure he could hear him. Kate wonders why he didn't confide in her but this has nothing to do with her. She tells him if he's in trouble, he needs to talk to her. Philip knows that Victor had a way of keeping clean, but he couldn't do the same thing and has let Victor down. Bo interrupts and Kate tells Bo what happened. He worries and Philip asks Kate to go to the cafeteria with him, to give Bo time alone with Victor.
Bo visits Victor, while Lexi is making notes on his chart. She tells Bo that something upset Victor, and asks him not to stay too long. Bo promises not to upset him but Victor wakes up and says he's already upset. Bo asks what's wrong and Victor says, "As if you didn't know." He asks about Hollingsworth and knows he has the goods on Philip. "How do you know," Bo asks. It's not important, but he asks if Bo has the recording. "This is your brother, Bo." Bo reminds him that though he promised to protect Philip, he is a cop and there is a murder. This isn't honorable! "Get out of here," demands Victor, but Bo reminds him he has an oath to uphold the law. Victor's machines start beeping again and Lexi rushes in with a crash cart and ushers Bo out of the room.
Lexi comes to Bo, who tells him they were talking one minute and the next, his monitor spiked. Philip and Kate arrive and worry, but Lexi asks them to ensure they just talk small talk with Victor. Don't upset him! Kate asks Bo if Victor said anything, but Bo snidely asks her to talk to her son. He goes back to see Victor, while Kate demands Philip tell her everything.
Victor asks Bo not to give things away. "Whatever you have on Philip," Bo asks him to walk away. Bo agrees to it and gives Victor the recorder.
At the hospital, Kate is glad Chelsea has Daniel to lean on. She can never find out what happened between us, because it would kill her. Chelsea listens. She comes to them and Daniel tells the two that Victor had a stroke and a top neurologist is involved. He's on a drug that they think will help, but it could go either way. When Daniel leaves, Chelsea asks Kate if she thinks of him so highly, why didn't she allow Daniel to operate on her? Kate claims he was too busy, but Chelsea doesn't believe this.
Daniel comes to Kate and Chelsea and tells them that though Victor's awake, he's not out of the woods. Kate asks to talk to Daniel. "About us." Later, Kate runs into Daniel again and she tells him she cares about him and doesn't usually sleep around. "Neither do I." Daniel flashes back to getting drunk at the pub and meeting Kate. He remembers that she helped him through a difficult time and he'll be grateful to her. Kate says it was fun for a while, but it needed to end. "Probably should never have started," admits Kate. They knew what they were getting into.
