Austin asks who made the food he sees on the kitchen counter, and Sami admits that E.J did. She tells him she can't marry him anyway, and E.J. has nothing to do with it – Carrie does! She remembers seeing Carrie cry at her wedding, tears of sorrow, after losing Austin to her. She tells Austin that she knows that he and Carrie are in love with one another and that is why she can't marry him. Austin denies his feelings for Carrie. Sami implores him to be honest with himself that Carrie and Austin are meant to be together. Sami refuses to settle for second best. They agree to be friends always and Sami cries, but asks him to follow his heart, because he deserves to be happy.
Austin leaves Sami's apartment and barges in on Lucas and E.J. and the two go off to talk.
Austin takes Carrie to the rooftop. She asks Carrie to get back together with him, as he points to their initials on the wall. He is tired of pretending and wants to spend his life with her.
The investigation is underway.
At the Brady Pub, Lucas and Austin sit and discuss the wedding fiasco. Lucas tells Austin he thinks that Sami had an alternative reason for ending the wedding. He comes up with a few scenarios, but Austin isn't buying any of it. Lucas also points out that Sami shacked up with E.J. before the wedding. Lucas wonders what E.J.'s motives are.
Lexi comes into the pub, and tells Austin that he's lucky not to have married that witch! She almost spills the beans but shuts up quickly! She covers, but Austin thinks that she knows something that she's not telling, about Sami! She tells Austin and Lucas that Sami blackmailed her about cheating on Abe, and then when Austin is upset with her, she apologizes for hurting his feelings. Austin goes over to Sami's place to talk to her.
No wedding bells for Sami and Austin!
At the church, the wedding is still on. Father Jansen blesses the rings as Sami spies Lexi enter the church. Sami looks hesitant as Austin places the ring on her finger. Kate is sitting in the front row, in disbelief! Lucas seems to notice how Carrie looks tortured as she watches Austin, and Sami exchange rings. Sami is having a difficult time putting the ring on Austin's finger and tells him that she's sorry; she can't go through with it. With this, she races down the aisle, tripping on her dress and leaving the church.
The guests are in a tizzy, unsure as to what's going on when Austin speaks. He tells the guests that he is sorry but he doesn't want them to go anywhere. He's off to find Sami and tells them there will still be a wedding!
John leaves Roman and Marlena together while he chases off after the security men. Tek explains to John that they have reason to believe that everyone inside the church is in danger. Marlena and Roman are clueless and upset, not understanding what's going on.
Austin chases Sami to the bride's room and she refuses to allow him to change her mind about marrying him. She apologizes for not speaking up sooner, but tells him she doesn't deserve him. Austin tries to convince Sami that they belong together, that although there will be mistakes made; that they'll work together to ensure their marriage stays strong. He asks her to reach out for him but she refuses. She removes her rings and asks him to take back his.
Sami tells Austin she's a fake and can't do the right thing. She admits it'll never change. Austin isn't buying it, thinking that her expectations are too high. She disregards this, and shares that she's always on her best behavior with him. She doesn't think that he really knows the real Sami. She pleads with him to "Go away". He agrees to leave her but tells her "This is not over." After Austin leaves, Sami sobs quietly.
Austin makes an announcement. "As for now, the wedding is off. Hopefully that will change, but not today." Kate is thrilled, but EJ asks her not to let it show too much!
Austin thanks everyone for their support and the guests leave.
Will is upset, telling his dad and Carrie that his mom is a freak and that she blew it. Lucas consoles Will while Carrie consoles Austin! He explains what happened in the bride's room, and asks that she gives Samantha a ride home. He needs to find a new place to live. Lucas interjects, and gives Austin his apologies. He insists that Austin not give up on her.
Roman explains to John and Bo that Sami didn't come clean about the blackmail. He thinks it's too late, and asks that they all keep it quiet for Lexi and Carrie's sake. They all agree.
Not just your average wedding jitters!
The ceremony begins, and Marlena and Will read from the scripture. Will also says a few loving words about his mother and Austin, that gets the guests emotions going. Austin and Sami have written personal vows. Austin says his vows but when it comes time for Sami to say hers, she tells him she can't do it. Austin thinks that Sami is simply nervous, and tells her there is no need to say her own vows. She takes a deep breath and starts her vows. Both sets of vows are very touching, and sweet. Sami tells her parents that they're her heroes, as well as Austin.
