Outside the pub, John is watching Trent talk to Marlena when Nicole appears. She tells John that Trent destroys lives - he's almost as bad as Stefano. In fact, he's even more dangerous, because no one knows what he's capable of! John decides that he needs to be stopped then. With that, he walks into the pub, takes a hold of Trent, and sucker punches him! After Trent falls to the floor, John continues to kick him. "Get up!" Suddenly, John seems to have some sort of brain freeze. Marlena gasps. Trent crawls up off of the floor and says he's calling the police. John snaps to as well, and tells Marlena that he warned her not to associate with that man! She says he has no claim on her - she won't be his wife much longer. She tells John he has no idea how hard she tried to love him because she thought her husband was still deep within him, but she sees now she was wrong. He doesn't understand love - only ownership. She enrages him by saying he's just like Stefano, and that's why she's divorcing him. John pays for the damage to the pub. Trent says, "What about the damage to my face?" John leaves, and Marlena tells Trent that he isn't innocent in this. She informs him if he annoys her again, she'll rearrange his face! Trent says he could press charges, but Marlena warns him not to do that, and to leave John, her, and the Bradys alone! Outside, Nicole watches, cheering Marlena on. Suddenly, Nicole has to run away to be sick to her stomach! She thinks she ate bad clams. Trent stands in the pub grumbling, "You shouldn't have messed with me Marlena. Marlena leaves, wondering what is wrong with John.
Marlena turns up to get something she left at the DiMera Mansion. John invites her in and gives her a hair tie! She wonders why he really called her over. He blurts, "I don't think it's a good idea that you see Trent Robbins." She asks what this is all about, and John has no concrete reason to offer. She tells John that she has been pursuing him for months, and now that she has stopped - he doesn't like it! "You don't want me to date!" John says maybe he just doesn't want her to get hurt. She starts to walk out and he panics. "You're giving up on us?" She says the disk was one of the only chances they had left - and he wasn't really interested. He says maybe he would do things differently if he had the chance. She accuses him of just saying that in order to try to hang on to her! They start to bicker about Ava, and Marlena asks if he slept with her. He doesn't reply, just smiles tightly. Marlena says, "There's my answer!" He points out that she had urged him to see other people. Marlena bluntly tells him that she doesn't think they are any good together anymore, then leaves!
Outside the pub, Marlena is surprised to run into John again. He explains that he loves the coffee there. He asks if a divorce is really what she wants. He accuses her of giving up. She tells him she wishes to start a brand new life without him. He suggests that she is rushing this - especially considering what happened between them the other day. She disagrees - saying she's spent enough time on a man who is obviously dead and gone. He says he is still her husband. She replies, "In name only." He tells her that when he thought she was dead, he realized how important she is to him. Marlena appreciates the sentiment, but tells him she will be having dinner with Trent. John probes her feelings for the man, and tells her, "I don't like this. We're still married, and I don't want you seeing him!" Marlena gasps, "Are you jealous?" She tells him he is a hypocrite. He was dating Ava! He says that was different, but won't elaborate. Marlena says, "Goodbye John."
Sami sits with the children in the Mansion. EJ walks in as she is telling her daughter that she won't let her go anywhere. EJ tells her she has no choice. Sami disagrees. She says she has a terrible feeling about this! EJ admits that he isn't sure where she is coming from. Sami says that she doesn't want Allie waking up from one of her night tremors in a strange room - with Chloe looking over her! She contends that this is about what is best for her daughter. EJ tries to reassure her that Allie will handle it fine, but Sami remains upset. EJ notes that the girl will take her cue from Sami. He accuses her of making things worse. She angrily asks what she could have done to make things better. EJ replies, "You could've stayed married to me!" Sami says that wouldn't have helped one little bit! EJ says they'll never know. Sami points out that Lucas is an ex-con, and EJ reminds her of her difficulties with Will - the judge would have had to consider all of that. Sami maintains that she won't give Allie up! They talk about what happened when he got a court order so that Sami couldn't take Johnny out of the house. Sami says it's sick. "You think I'm a control freak? Take a look in the mirror - you're the worst!" EJ tells her that she needs to be a model citizen and stop plotting and scheming or she's going to make the situation worse - especially if she wants to appeal. He says she knows how she is and he won't have her pulling any of these stunts around Johnny. Suddenly John and Marlena walk in and John asks what they're fighting about now. They each state their cases. Marlena says joint custody seems fair. Sami blows up and storms out. John follows her. He offers his support. "I can see how difficult this is for you." Sami says this will damage her daughter - why can no one see that?! John agrees. "Trauma bites." Sami begins to cry and John puts his arms around her. Sami says she worries about both her children. John promises he would never let EJ keep Johnny from her. She thanks him.
At the DiMera Mansion, the phone rings and EJ takes the call. "Today?" He tells Marlena that Lucas is on the way. The doorbell rings and Lucas arrives at the Mansion. Sami answers the door. As Lucas explains that he has come for Allie, EJ confirms that the judge called. "Lucas's time with Allie starts today." Sami takes her daughter from EJ's arms, "Mommy loves you so much." John makes Lucas promise to take care of the little girl. He says, "Of course." Sami hands her over and turns away in pain. Lucas leaves. EJ says it will be okay. Sami flies into a rage. "I'm going to do something to fix this, and you are not going to stop me!"
At the pub, Trent runs into Marlena. He reintroduces himself and asks her to have a drink. She rebuffs him and turns to see John. He questions her about leaving the house early that morning on her own. He wants her to stay again, but she refuses to stay in a house with Stefano. As he presses her, she shouts, "No!" Trent looks on, amused. She walks over and sits down with him. "I'll have that Mimosa!" John heads over to the bar where Nicole is sitting. He asks who Trent is and she says he's a jerk. John decided he does not like him! Nicole natters in John's ear, but he just stares at Marlena. At the table, Trent notes that the man at the bar seems jealous. She admits that they're married, but it's not working. Trent asks, "Then why does he keep looking over here?"
Nicole and John sit down at a table, and she urges him not to play hard to get. "If you love her, go tell her." She says she knows what it's like to be in love with someone you can't have - and he has a shot with her! John feels he should just go over and break Trent's arm. Nicole notes that he can't do that, even though the man Marlena is with deserves to die. John is upset to hear that Trent has a dark side. Marlena watches John out of the corner of her eye as Trent continues to charm her and they exchange small talk. Trent asks her out for dinner the next night. She turns him down, telling him that she is not comfortable with the way he treated his son. She tells him she loves Max. He says he regrets it, and asks her to reconsider dinner. She says she is married. As he leaves, he gives her his digits. "If you change your mind, let me know."
Kayla arrives at the pub and embraces Marlena. She sits back down with Steve and they discuss the difficulties that Abe and Lexi are having over Theo. Steve says it doesn't seem like Lexi is handling it well, but Kayla says she'll be alright. Steve wonders if Theo might turn out to be one of the ones who doesn't have a severe case. Kayla says she hopes so, 'cause she doesn't know how much more Lexi can take! Marlena sits back down and John approaches. Coached by Nicole, he is prepared to tell her he loves her. Marlena, however, takes him off guard by saying she feels it is time to file papers for a divorce! John asks if that's what she really wants. She says she thinks they would both be happier. Steve watches them and asks Kayla if she thinks they are talking about Stefano. Steve reiterates that he is going to keep their child safe from Stefano no matter what!
Steve goes to Hope at Salem PD to ask if there is anything for him. He's looking for a lead on Hollingsworth. Talk switches to Bo. The investigation has them both losing sleep. Steve offers to help but he already is, she reassures him. Finding Paul would help everyone except for John, of course. Hope receives a call. "Paul has been spotted," she tells Steve, as she rushes off.
Over the phone, Stefano tells Tony that he's moving back into the mansion. Tony's surprised and says it's impossible to reclaim what's his. Bo arrives at the mansion and a weakened looking Marlena tells him Stefano is on the phone. After Stefano wonders why nobody is rejoicing at finding out he's returning to the mansion, Bo picks up and talks with him. Stefano will see them all soon, he promises and hangs up. Bo's there to talk about Hollingsworth. Marlena asks John not to let Stefano come to the mansion. John won't let him, after what they shared in her office! Bo tells John that he could face murder charges but John hasn't been accused of anything. He wants Bo to focus on keeping Stefano away from them and asks EJ to find out if the house and contents are legally his. Stefano's arrival interrupts them. "This house is mine and it's good to be back." Bo grins and arrests Stefano, and John tells Stefano to enjoy his new home, the state prison!
Back at the mansion, Marlena continues to feel weak. Anna takes her upstairs to rest and EJ tells John that he's not sure what rights Stefano has to his house. "I'm not running a bed and breakfast, so I want everyone out, except for Blondie." Tony refuses to leave the mansion and he and John argue. EJ interrupts and tells him it's impossible to predict what's going to happen. Tony says all bets are off, but if Stefano remains in prison, EJ says the mansion will be up for grabs.
