As Shawn sadly walks away, Belle tries to tell herself that she and Philip could be happy together. Carrie shares her own story about Lucas and Austin and tells her to tell Shawn she loves him and wants to spend the rest of her life with him. Carrie gives her sister advice about her relationships with both men, telling her to start thinking about Belle first, before everyone else. She asks Belle to let Philip go so he can find someone else who loves him as much as she loves Shawn. They talk more, and in walks Marlena and John with hugs and kisses for them both. Marlena tells her daughters she is staying right there! They ask her to stay with them so they can take care of her!
Marlena is found!
Later, John and Andre search the storage facility, finding furniture, linens and other assortments. They have no idea of what it is but John hopes it leads him to Marlena. They find a hidden compartment housing a large old chest. They open it to find Marlena in the chest! John picks her up and removes her as she gets orientated. Once she figures out what's happening she calls out to John, telling him she knew he'd find her!
Lives are spinning out of control and lies are unravelling!
Marlena enters the pub and introduces herself! Marlena agrees to help him with his memory and gives him a card. John is flabbergasted when Marlena tells him she's off to Trenton. She explains her plans and he is supportive of her. He promises to keep an eye out for Sami while she is gone and the two kiss, with the promise that when she gets back they'll be a family.
The gloved person strikes again!
Marlena arrives; wanting to know what's up with Sami and E.J. Sami tells her 'nothing' but tells her mom that she gave Austin and Carrie her blessing! Marlena is proud. But Sami tells her, "I didn't have a choice." Sami tries to get Marlena to believe that she and EJ are good friends. Marlena gives her advice not to date anyone new yet. Sami tells her mom of how proud she is for her new women empowerment group. Marlena explains that she is leaving for Trenton and is saying goodbye! Sami is hesitant to let her mom go, but tells her she's excited for her! The two say a tearful goodbye as E.J. promises to take care of Samantha.
As Marlena leaves, she thinks she sees someone stepping away from her door. E.J. goes after Marlena, to see if he can find whoever was at the door. They think it's the one who is sending the anonymous notes!
As E.J. leaves, Sami gets an anonymous phone call. The caller asks her, "Do you know where your son is?"
Sami finally lets go of Austin - for good!
At the hospital, Roman and Marlena discuss the 'non-wedding'. Roman heads down to the morgue. He tells Marlena to watch her back, because of the murder.
Carrie seeks out Marlena, upset that Sami left Austin at the altar. Marlena tries to explain to Carrie about what Sami might have been thinking and why she left Austin. Carrie put aside her feelings for Austin because of Sami! Carrie spills about her reasoning for not selecting Austin to be with her (because of the mysterious reason she couldn't have a child with Austin) Marlena implores Carrie to do the right thing, and not hurt Lucas more by staying with him. She tells her step-daughter to do what is right for her, not for anyone else, because "every action has a reaction". Carrie agrees to find the courage to follow through with it!
After Carrie leaves the hospital, Marlena reads the piece of mail, from the gloved person! Roman walks in on her as she reads, telling her he found nothing. He wonders what's in with the letter! She has good news! Jeffery Taylor in New Jersey wrote to her about her woman's empowerment group. He wants her to go to Trenton for helping out in setting up a group there. She doesn't want to go, because it'll take her away for a month or more! Roman is encouraging though, telling her it's a good commitment! She is hesitant, although she knows it's a once in a lifetime chance. She agrees to leave!
A murder in the midst!
In the brides' room, E.J. comforts Sami, asking her to come clean. She refuses, telling him that she didn't come clean with her dad, either and explains what she told him. She's in tears, thinking that she really did make her bed and lie in it, and she tells E.J. that she'll never change. She jokes with E.J. that being thrown in jail was the highlight of her day! The two joke and laugh about the arresting officer and how he looked when he found out who Sami was, and they burst out in a fit of the giggles, when Marlena walks in! Sami looks guilty, and Marlena wants to know what's going on.
Marlena asks to speak to Sami in private, and asks why she cancelled the wedding. She tells her of her reservations. Marlena is proud of her decision. They have a heart to heart about Lucas and Austin. Sami doesn't understand why she's the black sheep, when she had such good role models. Marlena leaves and Sami and E.J. make plans for the rest of the night.
