Romance and Sin!

The killer rummages through Marlena’s townhouse and takes a call from somebody, saying he won’t leave until he finds out. When Marlena arrives, he hides. Marlena takes a call from John, who says he’s with his bounty hunter. She asks how things are with Brady, but he has no time for that. There’s a killer on the loose. Meanwhile, the killer gently takes the fireplace poker in his hand. Marlena worries about Sami, while the killer stalks her. He grabs her and pushes her up against a wall and demands to know where her daughter is - or she’s dead! Marlena doesn’t know where she is. “She was scared and left town. I don’t know where she is.” He tells her that Sami can ID him, and Marlena kicks him hard. He falls to the floor, and she quickly calls John. He picks up, from outside the pub still and as she says hello, the killer cuts the phone cord and wraps it around his hands. He asks again for Sami’s exact location but John quietly enters the room with a gun. The killer dashes around Marlena and holds the cord around her neck. John takes aim.

Emotional Terrorist.

John and Marlena bump into each other at the police department. Marlena thinks it's difficult for him not to recognize his own son and she thought his response was dumb. He's surprised. She doesn't usually use words like that. John has no feelings for him but Marlena thinks they could help each other. He could help Brady with a rough time and Brady could help him with his own issues. Marlena says he's running away from Brady but John calls himself detached and refuses to fake emotion.

John goes into Roman's office and tells him he has hired private investigators to help find Sami's shooter. Roman's angry and thinks he's probably trying to convince Marlena that he's back to his old self, in order to get her back! He reminds John that Marlena divorced him for a reason and this won't work. John says Marlena's happy he's doing this, since it'll get her daughter back sooner. Roman asks him to think about his son while he thinks about his daughter! John thinks this isn't his business, and leaves.

EJ arrives at Marlena's townhouse to talk to her about Brady. He says he's with Nicole and wonders if he should be worried about Nicole. He says this baby has changed and focused her and he knows she and Brady had a difficult relationship. He thinks Nicole has enough on her plate. Marlena asks him not to borrow trouble and have faith in her. Marlena notices that he is smitten! EJ says maybe she's right. Marlena offers free advice. "Why don't you ask Nicole how she feels about Brady?" EJ says he doesn’t want to do a silly thing like that but Marlena thinks it'll improve their relationship - honesty and all. EJ grins and thanks her for her time, asking for confidentiality. As EJ is about to leave, Brady returns. Marlena hugs him and leaves and Brady thanks EJ for letting him spend some time with Nicole. EJ wants to get a few things straight.

She Fell and Hit her Head... It was an Accident!

John arrives at Marlena's townhouse with news that he has hired a private investigator to help solve the mayor's murder, so that Samantha can be released from witness protection. Marlena is touched and reminded of the old John. When a knock comes to the door Brady stands there! A thrilled Marlena calls out his name and jumps into his arms for a big hug, while John stares, puzzled. Marlena introduces Brady, but John's indifferent. Brady says he went to see John first, but the doorman explained he wasn't there. Brady's happy to see John, but John is short with him and things are awkward. Marlena reminds him that Brady's his son, but John doesn't remember him. Brady explains he spent the last six months working on a farm in Vienna. "I thought rehab was tough," he says. It gave him time to think. Brady says he's there to make amends for what his addiction did and wanted to see his dad first, he explains, as he slaps John's knee. John jumps up, unexpectedly and tells Marlena he has somewhere to be. He leaves and Marlena apologizes. Brady knew it wouldn't be easy. Marlena admits that it takes time to warm up to him. Brady thinks they should be grateful he's alive and healthy. Marlena admits John seems to be ill, and explains his episodes. Brady starts to worry. Marlena explains his fear of hospitals and how he refuses help. She says it's partially why they're divorced. Brady thinks there is always a chance and asks her not to give up on him. She won't, but can't do it alone. Brady asks to help, which leaves Marlena tearing up. She asks him to move in with her. A knock to the door brings John, who tells her he met with his contact, who is on the case now. He sees Brady. "You're still here." Brady tells him, "You'd better get used to it, Dad, because I'm not going anywhere." Brady asks John to lunch, but he declines and asks for another time. After John leaves, Brady is upset to be a stranger to his father. Marlena comforts him and they hug.

Kiddie Cosmo.

Marlena gasps as John grabs her from behind at the park. She's shocked and tells him he could have given her a heart attack. John asks what she's doing there all by herself and says he didn't know she was back from Colorado. She had a full caseload and returned early, she replies. John received the divorce papers and asks if this is what she wanted. It's not. John asks if the divorce means that they're over. "That's exactly what it means," she says but just because they're not married; it doesn’t mean they have to avoid each other. She doesn't want them to feel awkward. Neither does John. Marlena asks how he's been feeling. She wonders if he's had any episodes or saw a doctor. He tells her they can't help him and she recalls that he told her the same thing 20 years ago, when they met. She explains that he pushed everyone away when he was afraid he'd hurt those close to him. She asks as a doctor and a friend if he'd let her help him again. "I'm fine on my own," he replies. Marlena thinks John cares about her and that's why he refuses, then suddenly John collapses into her arms with an episode. Marlena rubs John and he tells her he'll walk her home. He admits she seems different. She is, she says. It's hard going home to an empty house. "So you came out here to get mugged," John asks, which elicits a giggle from Marlena. John is astounded to hear that Sami went into the witness protection program and when Marlena wishes she could help her, John comes up with an idea!

Sleeping with a Killer!

Roman tells Sami that she's got to go into a witness protection program - without the kids. Sami worries, and Roman tells her facts. The kids will be in harm's way. Lucas reminds her they'll be at risk if they're around her, and Marlena promises the kids will be fine. Sami yells, wondering why Chloe's there. Roman says Sami's right. She doesn't need an audience around during this. EJ claps as Sami rants that her children need her. "Well done, Samantha, when you are right, you're right!" EJ thinks she'll be safe in Salem, but Roman reminds him that she was just shot at. EJ wants her to move into the mansion. Marlena gasps but EJ dismisses her. Marlena asks if she'll stay in the living room or the dungeon. Sami's eyes are still burning from what she witnessed on the sofa, she complains. Chloe thinks that Sami could use a change of pace, considering the way her life's going and Roman tells Chloe to shut up. Roman's got a friend at the FBI and gives him a call as Lucas tries to tell Sami to do the right thing and keep her kids safe. Sami feels her growing abdomen and whispers, "You're right." Everyone's confused as Sami says she's going into the program. EJ is angry, but Sami gets up to pack. EJ is still unconvinced but Sami asks him not to second guess her, and goes off to pack. EJ thinks there is something else going on and asks Lucas, but Lucas plays it cool. Later, they are alone as Sami packs and Lucas admits he hates to keep her secret. Sami cries about the situation, but Lucas comforts her. Roman will catch the shooter. Sami thinks she somehow deserves this for all her past mistakes but Lucas denies this. He also tells her he'll keep her pregnancy a secret. He wonders what she'll do for a doctor. She worries about that, about losing EJ, and leaving Johnny with Stefano and Nicole. Marlena goes to Sami to ask if she has anything to say to her before she goes. Sami shakes her head. EJ and Lucas take the babies to Sami, and Marlena tells her not to cry, or she'll upset them. Sami says goodbye to the children. Roman takes Sami aside and tells her she can't take a photo album with her because it'll tie her to her life there. Sami starts to cry, and isn't sure she can do this. Marlena has to leave, so says goodbye. When Allie feels Sami's abdomen, she says, "Baby." Sami looks caught, and EJ asks, "Baby?"

A Fly in the Baby Ointment!

Back at the cabin, EJ has pushed Sami to the floor. He tries to cover her, but she pushes him away and tries to cover her baby bump. EJ shouts that somebody is shooting at her and she panics. Later, Roman arrives with the police. The officers' cordon off the area and search for the shooter. Marlena and John arrive and Marlena comforts Sami, while John tries to figure out what happened. Since he isn't helpful, Marlena asks him to leave. Sami thinks the hit man knows she's a threat and he'll keep coming after her until he gets to her. After Roman makes a few calls, he tells Sami that he has arranged for an agent to guard her around the clock.

Lucas and Chloe arrive at the cabin and find Sami is shaken up but fine. Roman tells Sami she is going into a witness protection program.

Hissing at the Wrong Jaguar!

Sami continues to help the sketch artist with her recollections of the shooter, when Marlena arrives at Roman's office to support her. Sami cries to Marlena as she tells her story. She hopes the mayor didn't suffer. Marlena comments that she's sure his wife and family is suffering terribly. Sami wonders who would want to kill Marino?

Later, in Roman's office, Marlena asks Sami to pack up the twins to stay with her for a while. Sami smiles, but reminds her of the toys and crying in the middle of the night... she refuses the offer. "I'm staying with Lucas at the cabin." Marlena is surprised. "On the island?" Sami nods and Marlena points out that Chloe's there. Sami will eventually talk to her and promises not to turn the cabin into a war zone. Marlena asks her straight out, as to why she's spending so much time with Lucas, but she doesn't answer. John interrupts and he too offers Sami to stay with him at the Salem Inn, temporarily. Sami turns him down and leaves. John asks if everything is okay, but Marlena, who's in a bad mood, says she's certain Sami is in trouble. She's been secretive. John asks how she's been doing and asks why she hasn't filed the divorce papers. "What's the hold up," he asks, and Marlena admits she's not sure.

Sami goes out of Roman's office to call Lucas, but he's busy making love to Chloe! She calls again and Sami yells at him for ignoring the phone. She asks him to come get her at the police station. She tells him she came face to face with a hit man and Lucas panics. He tells Chloe he has to get Sami, even though she's upset.
