Just making sure the guts are holding up alright!

Marlena reads a book at the townhouse. Belle and Claire arrive and Belle is happy to report her meeting with Hope went well. Marlena says her meeting went well too - turns out her old friend isn’t really a friend at all but she thinks she made her point!

John Black is Stefano's house guest!

Marlena, Sami and Belle burst into Roman's office. Marlena rants and raves that she no longer believes in the law and wants Stefano arrested. She talks about the depth of her pain and despair for John's death and worries she'll lose someone else. Roman says they have leads on Stefano but can't yet make an arrest. Abe apologizes to Marlena, but she tells them if they can't do it by the book, they need to consider another alternative! Abe reminds Marlena of their history with "almost" arresting Stefano. They need to do this right. Roman reminds Sami that understands - he too was kept from his family for years. Sami says he got a second chance but John didn't. Belle brings up Brady and Abe promises to keep them posted if they find a common denominator in the case. After the ladies leave, Abe and Roman agree to put a tail on Marlena.

Belle and Marlena run into Kate. Kate and Marlena agree that Lucas deserves a medal for shooting EJ. Billie returns. Lucas won't see Kate. This upsets Kate who knows Stefano won't give up!

Marlena and Belle arrive at Marlena's townhouse and Philip tells Belle how angry Shawn is with her for allowing him to sit with Claire. He tells her Shawn came over with Chloe to take Claire home. Belle is confused that Chloe was with him and he nonchalantly says, "I guess they're hanging out a lot." Belle is angered by this but Marlena asks Belle, "What were you thinking, allowing the man you had an affair with, babysit for you!? After Philip leaves, Marlena wonders why feels rational one moment and the next she feels like she'll explode. She apologizes for the way that came out but wonders to Belle why she didn't call Hope, Kayla or Caroline. She asks and wants Belle to start considering her actions. Marlena goes off to take a phone call. Later, the two get in their pajamas and share a vat of ice cream while they giggle and watch a movie. Marlena thinks Stefano's a real threat to them but the two agree not to let fear rule their lives.

He's a powerful speciman.

Philip meets Belle and Claire at Salem PD and happily takes Claire until Shawn or Marlena can pick her up. Chloe shows up at the police department and Philip tells her he still wants her working for him. He doesn't think Shawn will take Belle back if they work at it.

By her car, Marlena aims at Stefano's guest and yells at him to stop. He does so when hears a call from his cell phone but moves forward and when Marlena gets into her car, he fixes Marlena's wiper blade with his knife and runs off when he hears Roman's voice! Roman and Belle show up and she relays the story. She says she didn't see his face. He wore a ski mask. Roman takes her to see Crystal.

At the pub, Bo and Hope two kiss and discuss Shawn and how proud they are of him. When Crystal tells someone on her cell phone that Marlena didn't show up, Hope overhears and confronts Crystal about telling Marlena that John is alive. Crystal gives Hope a warning for Marlena to be careful. She's in danger. She leaves and Hope complains to Bo and then he takes a quick call from Abe, who lets him know what went down in Lucas' cell.

Later, Roman arrives with Belle and Marlena. Hope tells them Crystal left but not without a cryptic message. Marlena is tired of playing the victim and accompanies Roman to Salem PD.

Marlena visits Lucas at jail while EJ tells Bo that he got put in jail to save Lucas' life. He apologizes to a disbelieving Bo for all the pain he has caused and Sami interjects. She's frightened for Lucas. Bo says they're trying to get him released. EJ is angered by this and it confuses Bo. He says the Brady's will fight back if someone is sent after Lucas. EJ has no idea of what Stefano will do now but when Marlena walks, she says she has an idea!

Belle arrives and she and Sami both commiserate over their difficult times. Sami is angered that Lucas would lie after all the lies she has told in the past. Roman reminds her that Lucas forgave her and asks her to cut Lucas a break but Sami is stubborn. Marlena Marlena asks EJ to prove it to her that he is against Stefano. She wants him to prove to Roman and have Stefano put away.

In Abe's office, Abe, Roman and Bo agree they need to get Lucas to safety. They think they'll have a hard time pressing charges against Stefano for Carmine going after Lucas. The DA arrives and is asked to play down charges on Lucas. They plead with her to help them and tell her Stefano sent a man in to kill Lucas. Without EJ's word, that's heresy; she says and urges them to get a private cell for Lucas and character witnesses for court. He'll be in jail for a long time! They have the gun and the imaging from the bullet in EJ. She thinks Lucas intended on killing EJ DiMera (Wells?) and that is how he'll be prosecuted.

Outside Abe's office, Marlena tells Sami and Belle that EJ tried to convince her he's a new man but Lucas is the one who is a good man and a member of their family. They'll do what they can to help him. They march into Abe's office and Marlena asks how they plan on helping their family.

You be careful. I love you.

At Marlena's place, Belle, Philip and Marlena rehash how the woman and a man (Crystal and Rob) accosted her and Claire. Marlena wishes they'd have gotten a name. Philip wonders why the men who took Brady were interested in Belle. Belle doesn't feel threatened and balks at the need of a bodyguard or Roman's help. Belle is angered and feels Phil and Marlena are taking control of her life and when Belle runs off to take care of Claire; Marlena tells Philip she'll be the one to help her daughter. Belle returns and Marlena takes Claire to get cookies. She'll call Roman, she says, before she leaves. Belle tells Philip not to give her mom a hard time and apologizes. He can't turn off his feelings of responsibility off for them. He isn't taking advantage and asks her to call if she needs him as a friend. They hug and Phil leaves.

After he's gone, Crystal calls and when Belle picks up, Crystal says, "I'm so sorry Marlena, we didn't mean your daughter any harm." An alarmed Belle asks, "Who the hell is this?" Marlena and Claire come into the room and Marlena takes the call. Crystal again apologizes and Marlena asks how she got her number. Crystal claims Belle's in danger and asks to meet her at the pub. Marlena tells Belle she'll send an officer over while she goes to Crystal. Outside her townhouse, Marlena checks that her gun is in her handbag and leaves.

What's it going to be, fight or fold?

At Marlena's place, Belle sadly tells Marlena she didn't sleep well because of her guilt. Marlena reminds her that Shawn loves her and she has done nothing that can't be forgiven. Shawn shows up briefly with Claire, who runs to her mommy, calling out, "Hi Mommy!" Shawn leaves quickly, upsetting Belle. Marlena suggests Belle give Shawn time to forgive her and reminds Belle that she has been in her shoes. Belle realizes she slept with Philip to feel safe and loved. Marlena thinks this is a good start to know her feelings but wonders if Belle is still in love with Philip. Belle cares for both men but loves Shawn and married him. "He's my soul mate," she cries. Marlena says some believe that soul mates are bound together forever. Like she and John, Belle wonders. Marlena smiles and says she feels he's with her daily. She suggests Belle to take Claire to visit Sami, who needs her now that Lucas was arrested. Belle is shocked and says she'll go now. She runs off to get Claire.
