Bo and Hope wait at the pub for Melanie. When she arrives, they confront her about her confession to Max. They give her a choice. Answer questions here, or at the station. Melanie feels harassed and tells Bo and Hope that Stephanie made up her confession because she's jealous of her relationship with Max. Melanie lies that she never saw Trent the night of his murder, and asks them to go talk to Max. Unless there is evidence to the contrary, she asks to be able to mourn her father's passing in peace.
Good Set of Pipes!
At the pub, Melanie admits to Max that she's not sure if she killed Trent. Hope and Bo interrupt, but don't hear anything. They ask if all is well, and Bo doesn't believe Max when he tells him they're fine. Mel had and incident with Stephanie, earlier. They're there to see Caroline, but she's still at the park with the twins. Melanie and Max leave, and Melanie thanks Max for covering. She's going to buy him the newest video game! Max just wants answers, so they take a walk, while they talk. Meanwhile, back inside the pub, Bo and Hope think they're hiding something. Bo is certain that Max will do the right thing, but Hope's not so sure.
Back downstairs at the pub, Stephanie arrives. She finds out Max isn't there, and Bo asks her to stay. They ask why Max seemed to be covering for someone. Stephanie can't help. She's got homework and errands. She tells them she doesn't know anything for sure, but has to go. She runs off.
Melanie goes to the pub and asks Bo and Hope if they were wondering about that scene they walked in on with she and Max. They ask her to explain and she says all she can do is come clean. "Neither of you are going to like what I have to say," she starts off saying. She tells them she's adjusting to the move and her father's tragic death. Bo brings her back to reality and reminds her there was something she wanted to say. They go back and forth and she discusses meeting Max and how it's a gift. She says she and Stephanie are not friends, and asks them to look at her as a suspect, considering her prints are on the wallet.
Stephanie goes to the pub and tells Bo and Hope that she knows why Max has been so secretive. There's something they need to know about Melanie and what she's done to Max.
Honesty All Around!
At the hospital, Kayla asks Bo what can help Caroline’s case, and Bo says chasing down other suspects is key. He eyes E.J. and Nicole in the hospital hallway and says, “There’s one now.”
EJ and Nicole are at the hospital for a check-up and paternity test. Nicole says there’s one reason to all of this: Sami Brady. Bo approaches them and suspects that considering Nicole tried to kill her other husband, blaming her for Trent’s murder wouldn’t be a stretch. Bo warns Nicole that he’ll be watching her and walks off. EJ says she’s right about Samantha. After what Sami put him through with the twins, he needs to know the truth. He apologizes for offending her and she accepts, then Nicole tells him that he needs to understand that she’s not Sami Brady. EJ says they’re a lot alike and that worries him. Nicole confesses that she was scared about EJ’s reaction to her pregnancy. Nicole admits that for the first time she’s doing the right thing and this baby is a new beginning for her. She knows that all EJ cares about is how this affects his life. Kayla walks by and asks Nicole if she’s ready for her ultrasound. EJ tells Kayla that they also need a paternity test. Nicole goes inside the room and EJ gets a phone call and excuses himself. Kayla asks Nicole if Stefano knows about the baby.
At the station, Max and Stephanie meet with Bo, and Max gives Bo Trent’s wallet. Bo asks how he got it. Stephanie says that someone planted it in her purse and she’s sure it’s Melanie. She explains the argument they got into at the station, the day before. Bo tells them to wait as he has the wallet dusted for fingerprints. He leaves and Stephanie reassures Max that they’re doing the right thing. Bo returns with the test results and tells Max and Stephanie that they may have helped Caroline’s case, but implicated themselves. The only prints on the wallet are theirs!
Sweet Southern Squeeze
At Salem PD, Stephanie says if the DA decides to press charges, Max will wind up in jail, but she believes in his innocence. Melanie glances at Stephanie's purse, while Max says he's willing to take the rap for his mother. Bo arrives and tells Max he's free to go, but things don't look good for Ma. The DA went over the evidence, and the fight Max and Trent had earlier, explains the blood on the shirt. As well, three witnesses confirm that Robbins was alive when Max left the hotel room that night. While Bo's talking, Melanie sneaks Trent's wallet into Stephanie's purse! Bo promises to find the real killer. There are plenty of other suspects, he says, while looking at Melanie, who tells him there are probably plenty that he hasn't even thought of! She glances at Stephanie's purse. While Max and Stephanie leave, Bo asks Melanie to stick around, and they step into his office. They discuss what a creep Trent was, and about what happened in Trent's hotel room, before he died. Melanie calls him a real player and says he had a list of enemies that span the globe. He was a gambler and owed a lot of money. She asks him to focus on Trent's real enemies like Claude. He asks her not to leave town. He hopes for Max's sake, she's innocent, but leaves her with a warning. "One of these days you're going to slip up in this little game you're playing, and I'll be there."
Hope and Bo discuss Nick, in Roman's office. Hope says Chelsea is with him now, and Hope asks if Bo thinks he had something to do with Trent's murder. He doubts it. His money's on Melanie. Philip arrives and sees Melanie outside Roman's office. He shares that she came to him looking for help finding her father's killer, and says that's not why he's there. He wants to make a financial contribution. He's trying to update Titan's image. Bo and Hope are skeptical but find it generous. Hope will discuss this with the financial analyst at Salem PD. Philip leaves and bumps into Melanie. He asks why she has Trent's wallet. "He gave it to me." They take a walk as Philip asks for more information.
