Abe finishes a speech at a press conference at the Brady pub and Donna Farrell bumps into Lexi. She runs the support group for Autism and wonders why they haven’t seen her at group in a while. Lexi has been busy and wanted to spend the extra time with Theo. Donna understands completely. Abe shows up and Lexi finds out that Donna also helps with Abe’s campaign. Lexi’s face falls. Chelsea interrupts and gives Lexi a “Redbook” with a good Autism article in it. She goes off to see her grandmother while Abe asks how she thinks the conference went. Lexi thinks it went well and starts wondering how Donna does it. She has four children – one of which has Autism, and she’s so busy. Lexi can’t get through the day with just one kid. She shows Abe her itinerary for tomorrow and asks how she’s supposed to do it all. Abe feels for her, and reminds her how important her job is. Lexi feels incompetent with Theo, and is envious of Chelsea. Abe thinks she’s a terrific mother. Nearby, Chelsea takes a call from Stephanie, who tells her she needs to come to the police station right away, so Chelsea leaves the pub. Later, Lexi cries as she reads an Autism article and as Abe talks with Donna about the campaign. Abe returns to her and Lexi shares her thoughts on the article. She has felt so sorry for herself, but the women in the article are noble and getting out there, making a difference. Lexi sniffs as Donna drops by and asks if she’d like to join the environmental task force. Lexi hasn’t thought of it, but then suddenly perks up. She’d love to do it! Donna is thankful. Lexi says she’ll be at the support group for the Autistic children next time there is a meeting, as well!
Back at the pub, Abe receives a call. He later tells Lexi that Bo and Hope have Trent Robbins’ killer and it’s Nick Fallon. Lexi stares, in shock.
Lexi takes Theo to the park and asks him what he'd like to do today. She rhymes off a few activities, but he has a meltdown. When Lexi asks if something has upset him, it makes things worse. When Chelsea arrives, Theo runs into her arms as Lexi stares, mystified. He bangs his head on Chelsea and starts to scream, so she calms him right down by singing "The farmer in the dell..." Lexi thanks Chelsea and realizes she needs to try that sometime. Chelsea only recently heard that children with Autism have unusual sensitivities to music. Lexi knew as well, but never thought to apply it. Theo has another meltdown when Lexi tries to get Theo to show Chelsea his truck, but Chelsea tells him nobody's trying to take his truck away and asks him to show her how the truck moves. He does so and Lexi cries that she doesn't understand why he responds better with Chelsea. Chelsea tells her she's not his mother and kids always act out with their parents. Chelsea asks to spend time with Theo. She needs cheering up! Lexi says she'll go to the pub for a while.
Lexi finds Kayla and Joe at the pub. Lexi explains what happened with Theo and how she's not as skilled at helping him as Chelsea. She admits she thinks Theo would rather be with anyone but her as he must sense her nervousness. Kayla gives her a pep talk and reminisces that she too felt inept once when Stephanie had colic as a baby, and only Caroline could comfort and calm her. She knows Theo feels Lexi's love and reminds her that they can't always be the ones to comfort their children.
Lexi, Abe, Bo and Hope are exuberant when Abe is named mayor, at the pub, but Tony notices that Roman looks troubled, he opens up to him about Stefano's part in the murder of Mariano. They wish Stefano would have stayed out of this election and Roman wonders if Abe will turn down the job.
Nearby, Evan asks Abe to make his speech. He thanks Lexi for putting up with him and says how honored he is to be the mayor of Salem, and accepts the position of mayor.
EJ makes a call from outside the pub, looking for Nicole, then goes into the pub and asks Bo for help. "Nicole's missing." They men go outside and EJ shares how Nicole was to be transferred to University hospital but she hasn’t been checked in under that name. Bo makes a call and finds out Nicole's in the jail infirmary.
Bo returns to the pub and explains what happened with EJ. Bo grins at Abe and says, "He's schmoozing like a pro!" Nearby, Roman congratulates Abe and admits he was concerned that Abe wouldn’t take the position. Abe admits he was conflicted and says it puts a damper on the celebrations knowing Stefano could have had a hand in Marino's death. He refuses to let anyone keep him from his civic duty. They stare at Bo and Abe says he plans to name Bo police commissioner. They'd like to finally get the upper hand on Stefano. Nearby, Lexi tells Hope that Abe wants to name the new police commissioner soon. The group gets together and congratulations are all around. Abe asks Bo to become the new police commissioner and Bo says he may need time to think about it, but laughs and says, "Why do you think I wore this damned tie?!" He's happy to be on board. Bo and Abe pose for photos and Tony says he finally feels as though Salem's in capable hands.
Abe and Lexi argue about all the decorations Lexi put up at the pub to celebrate. Abe doesn't think this should be a celebration because he's haunted by Marino's death. "He didn't deserve to die!" Lexi agrees and finally tells him about how she threatened Stefano to either cut all ties with Marino or lose his grandson. She says that later that day, Marino was found dead on Stefano's doorstep. Abe is shocked and Lexi admits that though Stefano refused to admit involvement, she worries he had Marino killed. She hopes she hasn't ruined everything for Abe. Abe hugs her and when Roman comes upon them to see if they're alright, Abe tells Roman everything. "We've got a picture of Stefano with a smoking gun," says Roman, and the two go off to talk to Stefano. Moments later, Tony arrives and Lexi confesses she thinks she made a mistake. She admits she told Roman and Abe everything because she felt so guilty. Tony is concerned and asks how she could have done this. He thought she'd let it go. She hangs her head and says Abe and Roman went to see Father! If this gets out, Abe will be destroyed!
Hope and a dapper Bo arrive at the Brady pub, with Bo griping about wearing fancy clothes.
Abe has returned to the pub and Lexi asks if he can forgive her for involving Stefano in their lives. Abe says she's not to blame. The blood is on his hands as he's the one to set it into motion. Lexi dries tears and Bo and Hope come to Abe and Lexi's side and Bo says he heard the election results are in! Later, Roman comes by and pokes fun at Bo and his tie. "Did Ma dress you," he asks and Evan eventually announces the mayor, who has won by a landslide - Abe! Everyone claps and cheers and Tony stands to the side, clapping but looks concerned.
Lexi and Theo arrive back at Java Café, and much to Abe's delight, Theo came, happily. Mona Roy arrives. She's from The Spectator and will be writing their article. "Aren't you cuter than two tigers and a ball of twine," she says to a shy Theo. Eventually, Theo runs to Mona with a hug, surprising all! Mona comments on his affection and admits she did research on Autistic children. She has an autistic child, herself, and Lexi's hoping that Mona will be able to define Theo as a child with Autism, not an Autistic child. They discuss how overwhelming it can be and how it can interfere with their day-to-day life. Off the record, Mona thinks it's important for a mayor to understand the average issues of people. Theo suddenly yells, "High score, high score!" He jumps into Abe's lap. Mona asks if it's all right to ask Theo questions. She asks what his favorite food is and he starts to dance around. Lexi explains he has food aversions and apologizes. Mona apologizes and leaves and Abe gets Theo's attention, finally, and holds his hand.
Abe, Evan, Theo and Lexi sit at Java Café and Evan tells them that the city is anxious to meet their new mayor. They've got to have family photos taken, but Lexi's unsure if Theo's up for it. Just to get him there, they practically had to drag him, kicking and screaming into car. Evan excuses himself to allow them privacy and Abe tells Lexi that she's the one who said they'd fight this thing together. He wonders what's going on. She runs hot and cold. Lexi worries about how Theo will react to being photographed. She wonders if Theo will be wondering if people are staring at him, wondering how the Carver's little Autistic boy is doing. Abe says this article that they're doing on him and the photos will help him win the election. They discuss things and argue and Evan returns to tell them what is expected of them. Meanwhile, Theo goes to another table and takes a coffee from the table, dropping it on the floor. He screams when a lady asks what he's doing, bringing Lexi, Abe and Evan to his side. The patron is upset with Lexi and asks if she could take care of her son. Lexi goes off on her and the lady realizes that Abe's running for mayor. She knows Theo's autistic. Evan, the manager, takes the woman aside and gives her free coffee, while Lexi makes more of an issue of it than it is, according to Abe, and packs up Theo for home. Abe is proud she's Theo's mother and tells her that they're real people, dealing with real challenges. They've nothing to hide! Evan arrives at their side and tells them the photo shoot will be another hour. Abe thinks Lexi should take Theo home and consider his words, but if she doesn't return, he'll understand. Lexi tells him they'll be back, because they're family. "And family sticks together!"
Lexi and Tony arrive at the pub, with Lexi fretting over Abe. Tony asks what's going on and Lexi says she has a part in Marino's death. She shares what happened between she and Stefano. Tony finds her ultimatum reasonable, but Lexi thinks her ultimatum resulted in murder. Tony knows Stefano can be ruthless, but she can't automatically assume he killed Marino. Lexi admits he did deny it, and Tony points out that Stefano wouldn't have the man murdered outside his own door! Lexi still has a gut feeling that Stefano committed the crime - for her.
Meanwhile, the killer tells somebody on the phone not to worry. By the end of the night, Samantha Brady will be dead.
