Daniel tells a nurse he needs more tests for Kate, as he walks into her room. He asks Kate once more, to run through her medical history. She mentions a hernia operation, performed by Mike Horton, here at University Hospital. Daniel calls for a complete medical history. Kate demands more pain medication as Chelsea arrives and asks for news. They've nothing new to share.

Chelsea follows Daniel outside of Kate's room and tells him she trusts him. She is grateful for everything he has done for her and says she made the stupid mistake of falling in love with him and it's not his fault! Daniel's head spins as he tries to digest this. "What? You're in love with me?" Chelsea doesn't answer. She knows he needs to focus on her grandmother. She returns to Kate.

John Black: Resident Drug Dealer!

At University Hospital, Lexi tells Daniel that the offer to have him on staff still stands. He'll consider it. Worried, she asks to speak with him in private. They find a quiet spot and she talks to him about Theo's issues in school. Daniel is compassionate as she explains her concerns and the testing that he's going through. Daniel hugs her, just as Chelsea comes into the room. They break apart and Daniel tells her to hang in there. Lexi leaves and Chelsea feels bad and hopes Lexi will be okay. She calls him on his lies about having a girlfriend, but Daniel admits nothing. Daniel has decided to make a major change. He thinks she's amazing and insightful, and the way she treats her family is incredible. He admits he's avoided serious relationships with women and wants to change that. He calls himself careless with her affection and an impulsive idiot. "I'm attracted to you, Chelsea," he says, but he needs to deal with the age difference and his involvement with the other woman. Chelsea isn't happy with this but understands his need to do what he has to do. Chelsea won't throw himself at him anymore, she promises. She thinks he's making the right decision and sadly tells him to take care, and leaves.

At the hospital, Lexi flashes back to talking with Abe about Theo's issues at school. Abe shows up with important news to tell Lexi. He agrees that the best thing they can do is to have Theo see a specialist.

You're Done!

Daniel grabs Lexi and pulls her behind a curtain in ER and he tells her he bribed Nurse Maxine to get them breakfast. Lexi thinks it's sweet. "You think of everything," she compliments, blushing. Lexi says they've been having fun and will hate it when he leaves town. She gets cream cheese on her nose and the sexual tension is noticeable while Daniel removes it.

Later, Abe drops by the hospital, looking for Lexi, but she's in a meeting. Daniel sings Lexi's praises and is in awe of how she juggles her career and private life. Abe calls it trial and error and lets on that he tries to make time for his wife. Lexi returns from her meeting and since she has already had coffee with Daniel, they decide to grab a late lunch, to discuss a meeting with Theo's teacher.

Lexi meets Abe at the Pub and they discuss Theo and his issues at school. While Lexi worries, Abe doesn’t want to overanalyze the situation until they meet with Theo's teacher.

Nearby, Morgan berates Paul for disappearing, earlier. He couldn't be in the middle of that mess, he says, and when Morgan demands he tell her what's going on, he simply says he wants her to stay safe. Nearby, Nick and Stephanie discuss Max, who Nick thinks is stressed out from working three jobs.

Max is Spooked!

Maggie welcomes Lexie, Daniel, and Bo to the restaurant. They all compliment her on the green changes she's made to Chez Rouge. Just then, Hope arrives and kisses Maggie. Daniel's phone rings, just as Nick arrives. Not far behind is Chelsea, which takes Daniel off guard. Soon, a toast is made to Nick in celebration of his developing the alternative fuel source. Nearby, Chelsea grills Daniel on what he is doing there. He says he's meeting some guys from work, and steps forward to compliment Nick on his successful research. Chelsea makes a knowing remark about Daniel not liking commitment, which makes everyone feel awkward. Chelsea then walks away to speak to Nick, telling him how proud she is of him. He informs her that this almost didn't happen - he almost didn't get his grant! When he admits that a friend helped him out, she asks who it was. Just then, Stephanie arrives. Nick asks where Max is - after all, he had a lot to do with him getting the funding. Stephanie flashes back to Max admitting that he fixed Nick's work. She then tells Nick that whatever Max did it was to help, but Nick says he just wishes Max had given his papers back when he found them in the pub! Daniel stands with his friends at the bar, and is stunned when they start checking out Chelsea! Nearby, Dean Robbins arrives to present Nick with a check to build his new prototype. Everyone claps. Dean Robbins makes a nice speech about how the University is so proud of him! When Nick is asked to make a speech in return, he hesitates. Back at the bar, Daniel tries to stop his buddy from pursuing Chelsea, but to no avail. Just as Nick is taken away to meet some alumni by Dean Robbins, Daniel's friend accosts Chelsea. At a nearby table, Lexie confides in Hope that she feels her marriage may be in trouble! On the other side of the room, a guilt-ridden Nick admits to Dean Robbins that he had help with some of the calculations and may not be entitled to the check he has been given! Dean Robbins scoffs that all great men have help. He makes another toast to Nick and Bo yells, "Hear, hear!" Back at their table, Lexie tells Hope that they are getting therapy for their marriage and for Theo's sake as well. Hope smiles, and suggest they join the others. Chelsea, meanwhile, turns down the flirtatious friend of Daniel's, much to his relief. As the men tease Daniel that Chelsea has actually been looking at her own doctor, Daniel does a stiff shot!

At the bar, Dr. Jonas's companions continue to badger him about Chelsea, as he heatedly denies anything is going on between them! Nearby, Bo proposes a toast to Maggie and they all say 'cheers'! Just then, Max arrives. Stephanie happily greets him, but he is distracted by the sight of someone across the room. So intent is Max on the person he is staring at, that he doesn't even answer Stephanie! Back at the bar, Daniel says good night to his pals and leaves. Chelsea notices him go. As Nick continues to talk to Dean Robbins, Maggie spots Max. As she approaches and offers him a drink, Max continues to stare - at Dean Robbins - and abruptly says he has to leave!

Too Many Crime Shows.

In the Doctor's locker room, Daniel tells Lexi that he's exhausted after being in surgery. Lexi hasn't been sleeping either, due to personal issues. He offers to listen and Lexi goes into detail about her marital woes. Daniel thinks Abe must think she's all that and a bag of chips and that is sure they can work on it. Lexi asks him to share something now but he says there isn't enough time! He admits he can dish it out but can't take it and when she asks, he refuses to discuss Chelsea!

Abe arrives to take Lexi to breakfast. She's busy and can't. He asks when she's returning home tonight and she accuses him of being angry. They argue about their jobs getting in the way of their life and Lexi decides to take breakfast with him anyway. After breakfast, Lexi flirts with Abe and they agree to set aside one day a week to breakfast. Abe takes a call while Lexi tells Daniel about breakfast. With her hand covering his, she thanks him for listening. Once Daniel leaves, Abe wonders what that's about. Lexi explains she opened up to Daniel. Abe is insulted. Lexi says Daniel's a friend and that at least he listens to her! Lexi asks why he doesn't talk to her and Abe says he would but he doesn't know her anymore!

Bloody Brilliant!

Abe and Lexi meet with Dr. Carrington at home, who has taken them on for marital counseling. Abe thinks Lexi micromanages the hospital but Lexi says she has supported all his long hours and only asks him to support her. They admit they disagree on Theo. Lexi hovers and worries about him. "Something isn't right." Lexi thinks Theo has had minor meltdowns regarding their marital issues and says his time is spent between her mom and a nanny. The doctor asks them to use Theo as a tool to see how they're disconnecting with each other. He says they need to decipher how to remedy the situation. Abe apologizes to Lexi for being insensitive to her needs and issues surrounding Theo. Lexi apologizes for not being so understanding but says she needs time. The doctor gives them homework. They've got to go on an outing with Theo, without cell phones and write a 50 word letter on how the day went, afterwards. After the doctor leaves, Abe wants to know how she felt things went. Lexi thinks it's a start.

Environmentally Friendly!

At Abe and Lexi’s house, Abe tries to teach Theo how to stack blocks. Lexi doesn't want him to pressure Theo and is upset when Theo won't say the word “block”. She says she is doing what the speech therapist told her to do and they've concerns that he once spoke so much.

At Abe and Lexi’s place, Lexi speaks with the hospital on the phone. After her call, she tells Abe that they're trying to stabilize the baby. She is reminded of what they went through trying to get pregnant with Theo. They flash back to the excitement of the news and she remembers that they were so happy. Lexi is worried about Theo not speaking, but Abe thinks they are hovering over him too much. Abe comforts Lexi when she voices concerns that Kayla will lose the baby. She takes Theo off to bed and later returns with Abe offering wine. It's been a long time since they sat together. Abe offers to massage her aching back and after a while, the massage turns passionate and they head upstairs. Before they make it, Lexi takes a quick call from work, thinking it may be about Kayla’s baby. After the call ends, Abe tells her Theo woke up, but he got him back to sleep. They discuss their need for a marriage counselor.
